Not even going to lie - I don't do cold. Some people love it - I love it in photos only. We were able to get out during the snow and ice early this month and get some really great photos of our Town.

With school being canceled for a couple of days, we had a few extra days at home with our youngest son. This is both a blessing and a curse (I think ALL parents can agree!). I think we ate all the food at the house in the first 12 hours of being iced in.

And if you happened to have seen my graceful exit from the truck one day, you'll understand my gratitude for massage therapists and chiropractors. :) If you haven't seen it, just ask. If you can't laugh at yourself, are you even living? hah! I can definitely laugh at mysel; especially in this instance.

City of Gunter Hires Ty Lake as Director of Communications and Marketing The City of Gunter has hired Ty Lake as their Director of Communications and Marketing.

Mrs. Lake brings with her more than 25 years of experience in communications and marketing having served both the public and private sectors throughout her career. Most notably working in the city government sector, where she served the City of McKinney for nearly 10 years holding positions such as: Director of Main Street, Director of McKinney Performing Arts Center, and Community Engagement Director.

"Ty's abilities and strengths stem from her embodiment of the concept servant leadership. I have witnessed Ty taking her varied professional experiences over the years working in both public sector and in the private sector and she has honed her talent with considerable proficiency. I look forward to her bringing those strengths and skill set to the City of Gunter," stated City Manager, Rick Chaffin.

Lake was born and raised in the Texas Panhandle and is the youngest of eleven siblings. After graduating High School and attending Amarillo College for a short period, she soon relocated to the Midwest. In 1996, she and her husband Brad of 25-years, moved to McKinney. Lake's background includes retail management, corporate marketing for a 450-store retail chain, nonprofit marketing efforts, special events and fundraising, city government and directing marketing operations for a National Tenant Company known as, Tenant Tracker.

"I am thrilled to be part of such an exceptional team and to serve a uniquely growing city that holds preservation and people so very dear. I look forward to utilizing my skill set and talents to increase awareness, share our story and continue to enhance the City of Gunter for the citizens, community and businesses alike," stated Lake.

This Valentine’s Day the Gunter Library hosted the 107 residents of Settlers Ridge to a special day. The library collected donations from the community and the GISD Kindergarteners made personalized cards for each resident.

The center’s Director provided a list of most needed and appreciated items. This included small blankets for wheelchairs and loungers where residents sit, grip soled socks and slippers, hand lotions, puzzles and word seek books.

Last some individually wrapped valentines candy to pass out to everyone.

The Gunter Library volunteers, members of the library and several local Gunter businesses and clubs graciously contributed to this donation drive providing all these items and much more. This allows each resident to receive gifts.

Our heartfelt gifts and cards were welcomed at the center and made for a special Valentine’s Day celebration.
