Having studied project management at Purdue Calumet and accruing twenty years of experience, As 41 North Contractor‘s Vice President of Operations Mike McFadden oversees project managers and superintendents. Mike’s experience in the construction industry ranges from extensive renovations, civil construction, and ground up residential projects.

Lance comes with extensive experience across various market sectors and projects totaling hundreds of millions of dollars.

Holding a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Western Illinois University and pursuing a Master of Science in Management at the University of Illinois, his expertise is unapparelled and has contributed to the accumulation of his portfolio.

Halley supports business development of the Illinois branch of 41 North Contractors, as well as the company’s marketing.

Joseph Privitera, a Kansas City native, began his construction career as a union apprentice after earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City. CRYING TIGER DAVID COLLINS STUDIO | 6,400 SQFT. Crying Tiger Chicago brought a bold Southeast Asian dining concept to life through a complete transformation of a former restaurant space. Our team managed every phase— from demolition to final finishes—balancing modern design with functional efficiency. The build featured new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, a custom bar installation, high-end millwork, and a mix of natural wood and metal accents that reflect the restaurant’s vibrant brand.

Coordination with culinary consultants ensured the kitchen layout supported high-volume service, while lighting and acoustic solutions enhanced the intimate dining experience.

Working within tight urban site constraints required careful scheduling and collaboration with city inspectors and neighboring businesses. UCHI HAI DESIGN STUDIO | 6,300 SQFT. The transformation of Uchi Scottsdale was both a technical and creative accomplishment. The renovation involved converting the former Bandera restaurant into a refined dining space that harmonizes Arizona’s warm, earthy tones with Japanese aesthetics. Key features included the installation of sculptural arched wood ceilings inspired by southwestern ramadas, custom tables, and flooring in sandy shades—all reflecting a sophisticated yet welcoming ambiance.

Coordinating with Hai Design Studio, Hazelbaker Rush, and AV3 Design, the project required precision and adaptability, from integrating local and national artwork to ensuring the space suited a 207-seat dining room with patio and bar areas. Extra care was paid to finishes, lighting, and acoustics to foster both intimacy and energy. Every step, from sourcing materials to final installation, was focused on honoring the chef’s vision, Scottsdale’s vibrant culinary scene, and delivering an inviting, elevated experience for every guest.

BIAN CHICAGO STUDIO K | 45,000 SQFT. BIAN Chicago spans more than 45,000 square feet across two levels inside the historic Montgomery Ward warehouse, blending an “active zen” aesthetic with a full hospitality and wellness experience. Our team managed the gut rehabilitation of the site, transforming it into a luxury destination that brings together fitness, recovery, dining, and community under one roof. The project included stateof-the-art fitness studios, medical rooms, spa facilities, coworking areas, and a full-service restaurant operated by BOKA Restaurant Group, along with three bars that enhance the social and dining experience.

Exposed concrete, calming neutral tones, and abundant greenery were carefully integrated throughout to create a sense of balance, growth, and serenity. This project required careful coordination, technical expertise, and flexibility to preserve the building’s historic character while delivering modern luxury standards. The result is a standout space that reflects our ability to execute complex, high-end projects with precision and a strong focus on client needs.

BAR 504 JONATHON SPLITT | 3,500 SQFT. Bar 504 is an intimate cocktail lounge nestled above Le Select in Chicago’s River North, conceived as a sophisticated, late-night extension of the brasserie’s dining experience. The project focused on crafting a refined atmosphere within a compact footprint, combining custom millwork, rich finishes, and layered lighting to evoke warmth and quiet elegance. Structural and mechanical coordination was critical in the space’s development, requiring precise integration of supports, ductwork, and acoustic insulation to create a serene environment above the bustling restaurant below.

Every detail—from the backlit bar elements to the furniture layout—was tailored to balance functionality with design sophistication, ensuring smooth service flow and guest comfort. The result is a moody, polished retreat that complements Le Select’s energetic dining experience with an elevated sense of intimacy, offering guests a relaxed yet luxurious destination to unwind late into the night.

MARINA GRAND CURIOSO | 85,000 SQFT. The Marina Grand Resort in New Buffalo involved complex waterfront construction and hospitality-focused design. The three-story, 85,000-square-foot structure required marinegrade, corrosion-resistant materials to withstand humidity, wind, and proximity to Lake Michigan. Engineering focused on maximizing harbor views through extensive patios, decks, and large fenestrations, while maintaining robust building envelopes for weather resilience. The project integrated luxury amenities: suites with fireplaces, soaking tubs, and full kitchens; public spaces including indoor and outdoor pools, rooftop lounge, and a full-service marina, all demanding precise mechanical, electrical, and plumbing coordination for uninterrupted guest comfort.

Logistics and safety posed challenges, with careful scheduling of deliveries, limited site access by the water, and adherence to strict safety standards within an active marina environment. Flexible layouts and premium finishes had to meet both high guest expectations and operational needs.

FOXTAIL ON THE LAKE

ESG | 15,000 SQFT. Foxtail on the Lake involved transforming a former church into a modern Mediterranean restaurant while preserving its historical architectural features. The 15,000-square-foot structure underwent extensive renovations, including the installation of a new 3,000-square-foot kitchen, a 5,000square-foot outdoor patio overlooking Lake Opeka, and the addition of a 2,000-square-foot mezzanine. We had to carefully integrate new HVAC, sprinklers, deck lighting, and a concrete pad for outdoor rentals while maintaining original elements like stained glass and historic lighting.

The project required complex sequencing over 16 months to balance preservation with modern functionality.

Collaboration with restaurateurs and designers ensured the facility met upscale dining standards without compromising the building’s character. AFTER LSA | 5,700 SQFT. This sophisticated lounge and bar project required expert coordination to seamlessly align design vision, equipment installation, and construction sequencing. MAPLE & ASH STUDIO K | 8,800 SWFT. Maple & Ash was all about precision, coordination, and protecting the design intent at every step. The team had to balance a sophisticated guest experience with the practical demands of a complex restaurant build, making sure the custom leather bar wraps, artisan plaster walls, and signature “necklace” chandelier were installed flawlessly and aligned with the overall vision. The dual-floor layout added another layer of planning, especially around flow, sequencing, and trade coordination. Centering the space around a wood-burning hearth required careful execution to integrate structure, fire systems, and finishes without compromising the atmosphere. High-end materials leave little room for error, so craftsmanship and communication were essential from rough-in through final punch.

SUNDA STUDIO K | 8,000 SQFT. Building Sunda Fulton Market was a project that demanded careful planning, strong communication, and a steady focus on quality from start to finish. The goal was to deliver a restaurant that felt elevated and inviting while still performing as a highly functional hospitality space. That balance required close coordination between the design team, trades, and ownership to make sure every finish, fixture, and system supported the overall concept.

Custom millwork, premium finishes, feature lighting, and back-of-house kitchen systems all had to be installed with precision and in the right order. BLUE PLATE CATERING STUDIO K | 80,000 SQFT. Blue Plate Chicago’s Fulton Market headquarters reads like a highly coordinated ground-up hospitality facility designed to support production, client-facing, and administrative functions under one roof. The project’s value was in delivering a complex, food-service-driven building that included a large catering kitchen, commissary functions, tasting rooms, event space, and corporate offices, all while meeting the operational demands of a fast-growing caterer.
