MODERN DESIGN WITH CLASSIC DETAILS

A reimagined piece of New York history 393 West End Avenue resides in the landmarked West End-Collegiate Historic District. The storied area represents decades of architectural evolution, featuring some of the Upper West Side’s most acclaimed rowhouses and apartment buildings. Known for turn-of-the-century styles ranging from Victorian Gothic to Romanesque Revival, the neighborhood is home to an eclectic mix of historic residences dating back to the 1890s. As the leader in renowned restoration projects, CetraRuddy Architecture has thoughtfully preserved 393’s prewar details while adding the latest elements of modern living.

LOBBY The sculptural Belvedere Quartzite concierge desk adds modern energy to the grand lobby entrance — a bold counterpoint to the custom Grigio Collemandina and Bianco Spino marble mosaic inspired by classic parquet floors.

A prewar classic, transformed by CetraRuddy Originally built in 1927 by architects Goldner & Goldner, 393 West End Avenue begins its next chapter with CetraRuddy Architecture. Founded by husband-and-wife team John Cetra and Nancy J. Ruddy, the firm’s diverse portfolio features some of New York City’s most notable conversions. CetraRuddy is renowned for award-winning renovations of historic buildings — cementing their status as architectural visionaries.

An entrance for the ages 393 makes an impression at first sight. Antique bronze doors with distinctive lion medallions showcase its 1920s heritage. Eye-catching plaster tassels and a scalloped cornice reference the great opera houses of the era. The lantern ironwork is a classic masterpiece of metalwork. CetraRuddy tastefully restored the classic grandeur of prewar awnings. A metal-trimmed glass canopy adds a modern approach to the reimagined entry.
