The First Steps Toward Becoming
When you begin learning to fly, one of the first things to do is find the right flight instructor. We are fortunate at the Kirtland Flight Center to have a great group of instructors who can guide you through the flight training process. One of those instructors is Mark Moyer. Mark became interested in flying when he attended the United States Air Force Academy, and received his first pilot’s license there in 1980, and has been an instructor since. “I enjoy teaching flying, and have been instructing at the Kirtland Flight Center for over 20 years”, Mark says. Mark has developed some unique approaches to help new students learn to fly. When asked about typical challenges new students encounter, he responded that one challenge many students face is simply learning to talk to Air Traffic Control on the radio. Mark tells his students to simply think of it like a phone call to order a pizza. “Hi Dominoes, this is [Mark], I’d like a large pizza please”, is very similar to “Approach, N7887N, ready to return for landing at ABQ.” Although each student is unique, Mark uses his skills to pass on to them his flying techniques, and his love of flying, in personalized training.
A PILOT
You can take your first steps toward a pilot’s license by contacting the Kirtland Flight Training Center. We have a fantastic fleet of aircraft, and our talented staff of certified flight instructors can provide you with personalized training. Let them help you realize your dream of getting your pilot’s license. Your award-winning Kirtland Flight Center Staff is ready, willing and able to help! Stop by the Kirtland Flight Center Aero Club, meet some great people, schedule a Discovery Flight, and learn to fly! Contact the Kirtland Flight Center at 846-1072 for more information on flight training opportunities and recreational flying.
