GREEN SUSTAINABLE TECHNOLOGY 6

The biggest challenge in ice rink operations is managing the electrical costs. Electricity can account for up to 80% of all operational costs. Grid power prices are subject to demand. At peak demand the cost is obviously more, this usually occurs in midday at the warmest part of the day when everyone is running A/C and industry is in full operation. Our aim would be to utilize solar polar, making the facility the first NET + ice rink in the world.

SUN-ICE ENERGY PTE and IAXCANADA GLOBAL OPERATIONS PTE, have created a system that utilizes solar power and Phase Changing Material (PCM) that stores the thermal energy created from the sun to run the refrigeration and A/C equipment through means of converting DC voltage to usable AC voltage to run the refrigeration equipment when the sun is available, and store the energy created in the PCM blocks to use when the sun is not available. This system will take the electrical costs out of the equation and reduce operating costs by up to 80%.

The system is already proven in Singapore as SUN-ICE ENERGY and Greenspace+ have free standing containers utilizing solar and PCM for the air conditioning. The Container remains at a cool 21 degrees Celsius, 24 hours a day without any support from the grid. There are no grid wires connected to the containers. The same applies with the ice rink operations.

IAXCANADA GLOBAL OPERATIONS & SUN-ICE ENERGY have built a simulation test rink in Singapore that will be fully operational on OCT 15, 2023 with a 5 meters by 5 meters ice slab to test the limits and operational optimization of the system. The system is completely automated and will be Data Logged for research purposes with the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. We invite everyone to visit our test location to see the results first hand.

IAXCANADA will incorporate this technology into the ice rink in Phuket and create enough solar energy to not only supply the entire facility with refrigeration and air conditioning, but also create enough to sell to the grid making the facility the first NET + ice rink in the world.
