NWA J36 Whiteley Hey Flock Production Monday 31st August st

On Monday 31 August 2015 the 14 Annual Production sale on behalf of the Whiteley Hey Flock of Mr P Slater was held at North West Auctions, Junction 36 Rural Auction Centre, Kendal in conjunction with Mitchells Auction Co, Cockermouth. A packed ringside of buyers from across the UK many of which are returning customers all bid hard for the genuine stock Paul produces. The consignment of 550 head included 144 shearling rams, 2 aged rams, 54 2 & 3 shear ewes, 200 gimmer shearlings & 150 gimmer lambs of which 50 head were black Beltex x Texel. All the stock was presented in their natural form with tight skins and exceptional carcasses. The prices started as they mean to go on with the first lot in the ring was a pair of Texel 2 shear ewes sired by a Langside ram purchased from Kelso 2012 for £8000 the ewes sold for £400 per head to M/s Beard Dormanstead, Carlisle. It was lot 3 a pair of Beltex x Texel 2 shear ewes which realised the top price in the female section at £470 per head. The pair are sired by the Black Jack ram and also sold to M/s Beard. Gimmer shearlings up held trade with a leading price of £380 being paid for 2 Beltex x Texels sired by the 10,000gns Ardstewart Swagger Jagger ram purchased in 2013 this pair also found a home with M/s Beard. Peaking at £260 per head were a pair of Beltex x Texel gimmer lambs which are well grown with brilliant confirmation once again they were sired by the Swagger Jagger ram. Purchasing this pair was Mr M Atkinson, Beck Hill, Richmond. At the same money was a pair of Black Beltex x Texel lambs which sold to S Oliver, Nesbit Cottage, Wooler. The black Beltex x Texel females sold well and gained a lot of interest. The leading price Texel ewe lambs was a trio sired by the £9000 Brijon ram purchased in 2014 from Kelso. Leading price of the day went to lot 25 a very tight skinned Beltex x Texel shearling ram which sold to M/s Knight, Stephney Farm, Calderbridge for 2300gns. He is sired by the 10,000gns Ardstewart Swagger Jagger he was presented with great carcase and character. The next highest price came in the form of a pure Texel sired by Pauls Garngour ram purchased at the 2012 Kelso ram sale of £4800, this ram sold to M/s Price & Rogers of Lower Sgynlas, Hereford for 2100gns. In all 19 rams broke the £1000 barrier.
