The 50 Anniversary show and sale of dairy cattle at Lancaster saw one of the best shows of heifers forward. The pre-sale show, was very kindly judged by Mr Tony Bell, Silverdale. Mr Bell was the first judge at the “new” Lancaster site, back in July 1965. The show ring, surrounded by on lookers saw a fantastic turn out of heifers put before the judge, in all four classes. In the first class, the halter led heifer, taking first place was Lot 14 from J Burrow & Son, Tunsteads Farm with Stardale Vast Vaakje 9. Second place rosette going to the same home with Lot 15, Stardale Admiral Stella 2. The non-halter led heifers, spilt into junior and senior classes, with Lot 39 taking the first place rosette in the senior class, Garsby Stanley Rolie, from W & G Cornthwaite, Matshead Farm. In the junior class, Lot 23, Longstar DVD Holly, from KE Robinson, Kiln Hall. In the cow class, taking first place was Lot 4 AH Price & Son, Longbank Farm, with Jackbeck Wisconsin Indigo Red 55, a powerful 3rd calved cow. After much deliberation, the Champion and Reserve Champion Rosettes were awarded to the First and second place halter led heifers from J Burrow & Son, Tunsteads Farm. All cows sold above and beyond expectations, with AH Price & Sons, first place 3rd calved cow realising £1920.
