NWA Lancaster Machinery Sale Saturday 16th May North West Auctions held a very successful machinery sale at Lancaster with some good quality items on offer attracting buyers from far afield as Sheffield, Wales and Ireland. This month’s sale attracted larger equipment with a Kubota M8540 Tractor with Loader manufactured in 2009 from a local farm topped the trade sold to a top price of £15,350. A Case 4240 Tractor sold to £6,500 with a compact Kubota Tractor B600 4WD achieving £950. All types of grassland machinery attracted attention with a John Deere Mower from a local farm selling to £3,500 with a Pottinger Twin Rota rake selling to £2,300. A Lely Tedder from a local farm sold to £2180 with Niemeyer Tedder4 making £1,700. A large entry of timber created plenty of interest with sleepers selling to £110. The smaller items created a lot of interest with a Horner sheep shearing machine selling to £400 and a Power Washer to £300. An entry of Hand tools sold to £85 and £45 The opening sale of Household goods had an eclectic mix of items were forward for the household section of the sale with buyers keen to bid for most types of household goods and room to accommodate more lots furniture at future sales. NWA Lancaster Dairy Sale Monday 18th May The May dairy sale saw a lesser entry forward, comprising of 12 in-calf heifers, 6 fresh calves cows and heifers and a bull. The presale judge, Robin Boothman of Burnley awarded Lot 5, Whitecarr TC Madge, from T Cowell, Kirkham the Champion Rosette, which later went on to sell for the day’s top price of £1920. All 5 heifers sold to a respectable average of £1550. The reserve was awarded to Derick Cornthwaite with Garsby Ramos Kay 2, which achieved £1480. A run of in-calf heifers from PJ Holt & Son, Breedy Butts farm sold to a top of £1100. Finishing the sale was a pedigree bull from Henry & Mark Cornthwaite of Garstang, Kirkwood Emirates, sired by Amighetti Bigflake and from three generations of EX Cows sold to a final call of £1120. A 100% clearance throughout with plenty of buyer’s ringside looking to purchase fresh calved heifers. Show Results Champion Reserve Champion
