NWA J36 NEMSA Sale Saturday 12th September The annual Show and Sale of North of England Mule Gimmer Lambs at J36 Rural Auction Centre had a stronger trade then what had been anticipated and was fantastic to see old and new faces around the ring from near and far afield. Compliments must go to the vendors the quality of runs of lambs forward at today’s sale. The pre-sale show on the evening of Friday 11th September had a fantastic line up of 17 pens of 10 and 9 pens of 20 in front of judges, Mr AR Edmondson, Ulverston, and Mr S Carnie, Wiltshire, thanks go to our judges for their expertise and thanks to our referee Mr R Little, Penrith. The winning pen of 10 was awarded to the Inman Family of Strickland Hill, who also took home the 1st Prize pen of 20. There was a 100% clearance with an overall sale average of £91.30. The Champion pen of 10 sold to £260 a head and the champion pen of 20 selling for £138 a head with both pens selling to Philip and Denise Elliot of Penrith. Other noted prices are P & A Fell of Castle Hill selling to £195 and Hodgson Brothers of Rydal selling to £155 with plenty of other top pens achieving £140 plus. Tupping lambs sold to slightly less trade than previous years with running lambs eagerly bid for from an active ring full of buyers with all sheep selling beyond vendor’s expectations. The Bruce Willison Memorial Shield for the Best Run of Lambs in the market was awarded to A & H Watson, Middleton Hall. There was a fantastic atmosphere throughout the day at J36 with one of the largest attendances of buyers seen at this sale.
