J36 Rural Auction Centre: November Online Machinery Sale.

The popular monthly collective machinery sale once again saw a full yard of items with over 1500 lots o ered for sale.

Once again, an entry of over 50 vehicles attracted keen buyers attention with a John Deere 3350 4wd tractor achieving £9700, other tractors included a Fordson Super Dexta at £4200, Ford 4600 2wd at £2200 and International 475 at £1350.

Vehicles achieved £4500 for a Nissan Navara, £3200 for Izuzu D Max, £2900 for Toyota Hilux and £2700 Volkswagen Transporter.

Other plant vehicles included a John Deere Gator at £4800, Skid Steer to £3700, Matbro at £2600, Sanderson Telehandler at £2500, Mini digger at £2300.

Well maintained items once again attracted the keenest bidding with clean items attracting export interest.

PRIME LAMBS

More fed lambs are coming forward each week and greeted with buyers approval. Topping today and achieving £171 was a Texel from TM Townley with others £170 from HJ&BE Kelsall, £168 KA Purtill, GM&A Jackson and £167 M Coxhead. Standards sold to £158 from both KA Purtill and M Coxhead and lighter weights £134 from TR Prickett. Hill bred lambs saw Mules sell to £147, Cheviots £142, Masham £140 and Swaledale £134. Leading the sale at 364p/kg was a Beltex cross lamb from TW&BH Woodhouse &

Partners, other better end fed lambs 340p/kg to 355p/kg, mediums 315p/kg to 335p/kg with out of specification 285p/kg to 300p/kg. An overall market average today of 305p/kg for lambs ranging from 31kg to 57kg, with 40% of the entry being horned and hill bred lambs.

Store lambs this week sold to £119 and £118 for Texel cross from JM Kelsall & Son, with Cheviots £104 from SE&J Gorst. All sold averaged £109.18. There are 50 Cheviot and Texel cross already entered for next weeks sale

CAST EWES

A sharp rise in demand saw all sold average £146! Continental sold to £212 for Texel cross from D&K Swarbrick who topped the Mules at £158. Medium continentals £160 to £180, with better bred £185 to £210. Medium Mules £130 to £145, with feeding types sheep of all breeds £110 to £125. Hill bred ewes to £174 for Cheviots, £142 Easy Cares, £138 Swaledale, £112 Dalesbred and £106 Herdwick. Cull rams sold to £206 with mediums generally £115 to £180.

With the new system well and truly in play, lambs fly through the ring at Junction 36 to a bigger trade on the week.

Texels top today at £198 from PJ&ES Rogerson, The same good home had another to £195. Other Texels sold to £194 from J Twigge. Continentals hit 354.3p/kg from JA&R Geldard & Son. 50kg Texels from Messrs MW&PA Rollason sold to 348p/kg. Lighter 41kg lambs were up to 346.9p/kg for a pen of four. 36kg Dutch Spotted sheep made 339p/kg from Alasdair Prickett. A large number of ewes forward from both farmers and feeders. Several pure ewes forward today, selling to £285 for Texels from H Geldard, others £225 to £260. First cross to £210 from PJ & ES Rogerson, with the stronger cross bred ewes £170 to £195, mediums £150 to £178, with the leaner end £130 to £145.

Mules to £162 from A Clark & Johnson, with the better end £145 to £150 and mediums £128 to £140. Feeding ewes were generally £95 to £115.

Hill ewes sold to £154 for Lleyns, £142 Cheviots, £126 Swaledales, Rough Fell £124, Lonk £122, Dalesbred £118, Herdwick £112 and Scotch Black Faced £104.

Cull farms sold to £218 for Lleyns, with most £150 to £185, with horned rams to £140 for Rough Fells.

BREEDING SHEEP

The end of season sale of breeding sheep saw Mule shearlings sell to £208 and others £182. Mule gimmer lambs peaked at £132, with others £120 and £105. Welsh ewes sold to £105 and £98. All classes of breeding sheep are still wanted and available on a farm to farm basis, please contact any of the auctioneers or fields sta for further information.

STORE LAMBS

The opening November sale of store lambs saw all classes and types extremely well competed for, with nationwide interest from new and returning customers.

The sale peaked at £148 for Texel cross from JA Chapman, with others £146 J Holme & Son and £140 JM&NJ Strickland. Other level pens of stronger end feeding lambs were £125 to £138, mediums £110 to £118 and longer keep £90 to £105. Hill bred lambs saw Mules to £129, £128 and £127, with stronger end £118 to £125 and mediums £104 to £115. Cheviots to £126, Gritstone £125, SBF £116, Rough Fells £108, Swaledale £81 and Herdwicks £79.

CALVES

A small at entry in Lancaster today, with bull calves selling to £770 for an Aberdeen Angus from H Kent. British Blues sold to £760 and £730 from G&ME Woodhouse, Ellel. Simmental bulls sold to £710 from TM Townley, Lancaster. Three-week old British Blues to £410 from T&CM Kelsall, Chipping. Whilst black and white bulls sold to £320 from H Kent. Then.

Heifer calves sold to £610 for Herefords from H Kent, with Simmentals to £580 from TM Townley and Charolais at the same price from JM&MH France. British Blues to £560 from Wallbank Farms with Aberdeen Angus £510 from the same home.

A few more stirks forward selling to £1120 for Aberdeen Angus bullocks from D&J Hay, with a run of four to five month old Hereford heifers selling to £690 from JR Newsham.

STORE CATTLE

Lancasters weekly store cattle sale saw trade once again up on the week with a tremendous show of well fleshed cattle.

Hitting the headlines today was WD & SW Nightingale, Great Eccleston with a Limousin steer to £2800, with other Limousin steers from EW & CR Clegg, Stalmine to £2520. TE Garlick & Sons, Freckleton with their usual run of quality Aberdeen Angus cattle to £2720 for a pair with a trio from the same good home at £2680. A single British Blue from Pilling Hall, Pilling sold to £2700 with JM Cockett, Ingleton not too far behind at £2680 for a trio of British Blues. Local vendor DJ Townley, Stodday saw his trio of Charolais steers to £2520. J Lamb, Glasson with a pen of 3 Hereford steers to £2520. Not many dairy bred steers in today but what was in looked well sold with AJ Wilson Farming, Nether Kellet to £2350 for Friesians with other Friesians steers to £1900 from H Birkett & Son, Overton. All steers today averaged £2190.

No let up for store heifers with a pleasing average of £1897. T & E Garlick, Freckleton continued his good days trading seeing his Aberdeen Angus heifers to £2400 with other Aberdeen Angus heifers to £2300 from JB Moore, Grange over Sands. Charolais heifers to £2400 from Pilling Hall Farm, Pilling. Other Charolais heifers to £2380 from DJ Townley, Stodday who also had Limousin heifers to £2150. A good number of British Blue heifers in today topping at £2200 from J & H Bland & Son, Levens with others from this same good home at £2150. AJ Taylor, Halton had Hereford heifers to £2100 with a Simmental heifer from the same good home at £2180.

OTM CATTLE

The weekly sale of OTM cattle saw 95 through the bottom ring.

A very plain show of cattle with a distinctive lack of meat. Anything meaty would see a stand on trade on the week.

OTM steers would see top price per head today with JH Woof & Son, Oxenholme selling Aberdeen Angus to £2475.45 or 374.5p/kg with others from the same home at £2342.63 or 369.5p/kg.

OTM heifers from A & FM Bolland & Sons, Ellel sold to £2247.49 or 339.50p/kg for a Hereford with Aberdeen Angus from T & E Garlick & Son, Freckleton at 369.5p/kg.

Friesian OTM heifers at £2007 or 334.5p/kg from EE Thornton & Sons, Heaton with Oxcli e. Other Friesian OTM heifers from JP & C Robson, Garstang sold to 309.5p/kg.

OTM cows saw plenty of trade for meaty cattle with D Fox & Co, Forton selling a Friesian to £2290.57 or 264.5p/kg with other Friesians to 254.5p/kg from EE Thornton & Sons, Heaton with Oxcli e. Other dairy bred cows to 269.5p/kg for Fleckviehs from SR & PA Thompson, Sedbergh.

Beef bred OTM cows to 314.5p/kg or £2195 from R Capstick & Son, Ingleton for a Limousin. Other beef bred OTM cows to 304p/kg or £2031 for a British Blue from RT Halhead, Cockerham. Aberdeen Angus cows to £2162.57 from R & B Parker, Killington.

Just 1 cast bull today from RE & P Miller, Barnacre a Hereford making £2330.33 or 249.5p/kg.

An overall average of 235p/kg was achieved with this including a consignment of very lean cows.
