PRIME LAMBS
Festive Quality Shines as J36 Hosts Another Big Show.
A superb Christmas show of prime lambs accompanied another exceptionally strong entry at Junction 36, where big numbers forward have now become the norm. Buyers were out in force for the festive o ering, which saw the best and lighter end of well finished sheep fly from start to finish. However the large amount of heavy and weathered sheep about met more resistance
Trade topped today at £220 or 440p/kg for the first prize trio of lowland lambs from Messrs JA&R Geldard & Sons. These were bought by todays judge, Mr Tomkins of Hallsford Farm, Carlisle who very kindly did the honours. Other lambs sold to £208 for 3 beltex from Messrs RA Batty and £200 for a pen of 5 from Messrs LE&A Ridding for quality continental sheep.
