Lancaster Auction Mart: Christmas Sale of Dressed Poultry, Monday 22nd December 2025. Saw a total entry of 190 birds which consisted of 137 turkeys, 37 capons, 11 geese and 5 ducks, selling to a good ringside of buyers eager to purchase. Best turkeys to £105 twice from G Hargreaves, Lancaster. DJ Barton, Carnforth annual consignment to £100. Plenty of other Turkeys round the £4.00 a lb mark. Geese to £70 from BJ Jenkinson, Eagland Hill. Chickens to £30 from JM & TJ Livesey, Inskip. Ducks to £20 from W Birbeck, Soulby. Gobble Till You Wobble- Poultry Sale Hits The Stu ing Jackpot Buyers piled in ringside at our dressed poultry sale, all desperate to grab Christmas dinner in the nick of time and with nobody going cold turkey this close to the big day. A full entry of 254 birds strutted through the ring let by a dominant 213 Turkeys, 3 Guinea


Fowl, 10 Chickens and 18 Geese making sure no festive table went under- feathered. Trade was absolutely flying, with Turkeys averaging a tremendous £54 leaving vendors crowing and buyers winging it no longer. A cracking top price of £160 was achieved by DH Lucas & FA Nairey proving the best birds still rule the roost when Christmas panic sets in. Even a Christmas cake slipped through the ring meaning this sale genuinely had all the trimmings. A packed ringside, frantic buying and prices well and truly stu ed – Christmas saved. J36 Rural Auction Centre: Sale of Pigs, Prime Lambs & Cast Sheep, Tuesday 23rd December 2025. PRIME LAMBS A cracker of a pre-christmas trade. With Christmas only two sleeps away, buyers clearly arrives in festive spirits. Demand was exceptional from start to finish pushing averages to 344p/kg overall and an SQQ of 352p/kg. Texels topped at £212 from RHM&S Boyren with the heavier end of sheep significantly dearer on the week. Others sold to £208 from Messrs A Clark & Johnson. Texels topped at 406.70p/kg from Messrs PJ&ES Rogerson. Beltex sold to 397.60p/kg for a nice pair from GT Metcalfe. A single Texel from FI&ME Little sold to the same price. 45kg Texels from JA Airey sold 388.90p/kg. Mule and Horned sheep also a lump dearer this week. Mules from stockdale farms hit 352.90p/kg. PRIME LAMBS A very pleasing sale to end what has been a buoyant year at Lancaster Auction on a Monday morning for which we would like to extend our thanks to all customers for their continued support. A feature of todays sale was the annual young handlers show & sale which this year saw regular auction mart attendee Freddie Swarbrick, Bensons Farm with the championship rosette showing a 44kg Beltex cross lamb which later sold for £188 to Mr N Brown, Littledale. Thanks must go to the judge Mr S Cornthwaite, Caton and todays sponsor Park Farm Mookshake Shack. Well done to all competitors at todays show. PRIME LAMBS A Christmas Bow on the Final Prime Sheep Sale of 2025 Lambs remain in very high demand here at J36 despite the slight drop in trade from a week ago today. With many horned, hill and mules about accompanied with more numbers about on the week, an overall average of 328p/kg was achieved ending 2025 on a high for supporters of North West Auctions. Today’s sale included a section for young handlers. Thank you to our judge Mr Lewis Hodgson, representing Plumgarth Farm Shop, who did a fantastic job judging both lambs and young handlers ability. Also a big thank you to our sponsor Rural Law Practice for their annual contribution. Lambs from 40kg to 44kg in fit condition once again the best article to sell. 42kgs from MH&AR Robinson selling for 395.2p/kg for a trio. Lighter lambs also a joy to sell Beltex/Texel cross from BJ Bowness selling for 374.4p/kg.
