Numbers rising weekly and easily catered for with buyers ringside keen to fill orders. Tops this week of £213 and 495p/kg for several pens of Continental cross lambs out of Mule ewes from WN & D Smith & Sons, Cockerham closely followed by D & K Swarbrick, Out Rawcli e achieving £212 and 482p/kg.

PRIME HOGGS
Another yard full of Hoggs today greeted with buyers approval and an overall market average today of 385p/kg with over half the entry being heavies/super heavies. A top price today of 473p/kg was achieved by KA Purtill selling Beltex cross, other better end Hoggs 440p/kg to 470p/kg with nice grass finished Hoggs 410p/kg to 430p/kg. Hill bred Hoggs to 413p/kg for Cheviots, 409p/kg Horned, 390p/kg Mules, 385p/kg Herdwicks, 380p/kg Welsh and Swaledale 357p/kg.
Vendors must be congratulated on the quality of Hoggs forward today, keep them coming!! Endless pens £200 plus, peaking at £225 twice for Beltex cross from RJ Byron with others £221 twice, £220 (x4), £214 (x7) from various vendors. SPRING LAMBS & PRIME HOGGS
Trade holding firm for Springers & Hoggs
Spring lamb trade continues in its rich vain of form with Dorsets selling to 507.1p/kg from Messrs FE & CM Robinson & Son and Texels selling to £229 from Messrs W Garnett & Son.
Hoggs also maintaining massive demand. Another extremely mixed show forward however no let up in action as new faces ringside emphasised both lack of quantity and quality on show today. Good, well fed hoggs still selling extremely well. Heavies also better to sell today and the lighter end still gaining plenty of attention. Texels topped at £228 for a pen from Messrs R Lawrence. A trio of Texels from Messrs TA Teasdale hit £226 and Continental to £222 from Cornthwaite Moors Ltd. Texel topped pence per kilo at 441.2p/kg from D & J Woof. Fittest of Horned sheep still around the 400p/kg mark. Other Texels sold to 443.5p/kg from Messrs M & S Blease. An overall average of 375p/kg reflected the article forward with many vendors selling for the final time this season. More numbers required next week to meet strong demand! Another strong trade at J36 with a trade fit to stand with the past 2 weeks. Strong ewes are still in hot demand with lambs with plenty of age on them. This proved to be correct with a very strong packet of sheep comprising of Continental x, Cheviot Mule x, Masham ewes with Charolais/Beltex lambs from Richard Gardiner at Kendal College topping at £500 for a pen of Continental ewes with twins, the same firm followed with pens at £480, £475, £465, £450, £445 and singles at £320. Shearling trade remained hot with strong consignments of Mules and Texel on o er. Texel Shearlings topped the market from R Allinson making £460. Mules came close making £445 from G & KM Atkinson. The strength of lambs certainly made a di erence to trade today with buyers wanting the final pull on early spring lambs.

The calf ring started the day which included monthly sale of stirks with a total of 122 through the ring.
Younger rearing calves at just a month old to £760 for a Charolais bull from GJ & G Billington, Garstang with other Charolais bulls from the same good home at £680. Young British Blue also a month old from Lawsons Dairy, Cockerham to £750, with regular vendor JP & C Robson, Garstang to £680 also for month old British Blue bulls. Young Aberdeen Angus bulls always have a good following at Lancaster, with these to £710 from Wallbank Farms, Over Wyresdale with others to £640 from Walmsley Beef, Cockerham. Month old British Blue heifers from Lawsons Dairy, Cockerham to £670 other British Blue heifers to £630 from Wamsley Beef, Cockerham. Topping the leaderboard today was KH & D Holden & Son, Pilling with his Hereford steers to £2280, other Hereford steers to £2250 for a pen of six. Limousin steers to £2280 from TJ Lloyd, Settle. Aberdeen Angus steers to £2220 from EJ & PE Burrow, Storth who also had Simmental steers at the same price. Dairy bred steers to £1980 for Friesians from EJ Hodgson & Son, Lambrigg.
