December Sale Report The Christmas Show & Sale of Dairy Cattle saw an entry of 20 forward for sale, with vendors retaining cattle for the Renowned January Extravaganza to be held on Monday 16th January. Mr Aubrey Greenhalgh of Enchanted Holsteins had the task of judging the Show classes, his eventual Overall Champion being awarded to the 1st Prize Non-Halter Led Heifer from the Inman Family of Strickland Hill Farming, ‘Witherslack Moviestar Lola’. The Reserve Champion being the 2nd Prize Heifer, ‘Sandley Clara 39’ forward from GH Sanderson & Family of Catforth, noted as being 23 days calved. In the Halter Led Heifer Class Messrs Burrow of Tunsteads Farm led the way with their homebred heifer ‘Stardale Pirlo Stella’ being tapped forward by the judge. Following the judging, the sale ring saw a firm trade throughout with an excellent overall average of £1698.95 being achieved for Newly Calved Heifers, leading the way from other local sale centres. There was just one cow forward which achieved £1720. Leading the way in the Sale Ring was the Champion ‘Witherslack Moviestar Lola’ presented by Wayne Inman which achieved £2180. Following on, from the Drinkall Family of Catshaw Hall was ‘Pennine Jill 23’ & ‘Pennine Peace 694’ both selling for £1920 each. Our thanks must go to our judge Mr Aubrey Greenhalgh for providing his time and expertise and to the sponsors – Wynnstay, Zoetis & Elanco along with Northern Nutrition for providing their generous support, without which the event would not have been the success it was. Sale Conditions Stock will be sold under the conditions of sale displayed in the Mart, recommended by the Livestock Auctioneers’ Association for England and Wales. All heifers offered for sale are not warranted as breeders unless otherwise stated. Please note that ear numbers for all cattle must be given to the auctioneers on the respective entry forms supplied. All unentered cattle and those missing their turn in the ballot will be offered for sale at the end of the catalogued entries. No lots can leave the market without a ‘pass slip’ being issued by the main office Purchasers have two working days from time of sale to satisfy themselves that all documentation received is correct and any discrepancies must be notified to the auctioneers within that time limit.
