Sale Conditions Stock will be sold under the conditions of sale displayed in the mart, recommended by the Livestock Auctioneers’ Associtaion for England and Wales.

All heifers offered for sale are not warranted as breeders unlessotherwise stated.

Please note that ear numbers for all cattle must be given to the auctioneers on the respective entry forms supplied.

All unentered cattle and those missing their turn in the ballot will beoffered for sale at the end of the catalogued entries.

No lots can leave the market without a ‘pass slip’ being issued by the main office Purchasers have two working days from time of sale to satisfy themselves that all documentation received is correct and any discrepancies must be notified to the auctioneers within that time limit. Paperwork must accompany livestock and if making multiple loads please make sure that the paperwork is presented with the first load.

TB Status Notification If you are a 1 year TB test holding, please ensure your cattle have been tested within the 60 days prior to sale date. Please bring a copy of your current TB Test Certificate with your passports and indicate on the blue entry form how many days remain on your current test.

January Sale Report The January Extravaganza at Lancaster saw a good show of ca le put before Judge Andrew Lawrie of Lanark. The pre-sale show a nice line up of heifers in both the halter led and non-halter led classes. Taking the first place rose e and later the Champion and Supreme Champion in the nonhalter led class was MJ & H Atkinson with Wyredale Seaver Sylvia 87, this flashy heifer sired by REW Seaver and sold a month calved giving in excess of 30 litres, she later went on to realise the top price of the day at £2420, selling to an undisclosed Lancashire buyer.

The Reserve Champion was awarded to Enchanted Beraka Bang, consigned by Enchanted Holsteins. Sired by Shanael Planet Beraka supported by two genera5ons of VG and sold giving 36 litres she went on to realise £2150 selling to EH & L Fearon, Cartmel.

The best pair of heifers was awared to J Burrow and Son with lots 19 & 20, Stardale Des5ned Vaakje and Stardale Reflex Vaakje 3, both of which made £1450, selling to Barber Farms and A Lawrie respec5vely.

Trade for ca le was slightly selec5ve, with the majority of buyers feeling the pinch of the current milk price cuts. Best ca le sold well with 4 in excess of £2000, good straight milking ca le sold between £1400-£1600. Plainer ca le and ca le lacking milk sold around the £1100 mark. An overall average of £1350 achieved. Cows sold to £1020 for a third calver from T Cowell.

In the Bull class, R & E Bu erfield took first place with Lot 73, INgleview Denton. The first in the ring, Sandley Patrick, from GH Sanderson & Family, sired by Woodmarsh Merchant and bred from three immediate EX cows who have had lacta5ons in excess of 16,000 litres. Sold for the top price of the day at £2600 to Ling Dairies Carlisle.
