Weekly Report and Newsletter - 24th June 2022 Lancaster Auction Mart: Weekly Sale of Spring Lambs, Prime Hoggs and Cast Sheep, Monday 20th June 2022. Spring Lambs 802 spring lambs were put before our busy ring side of buyers all keen to secure lambs from the first sale of the week, selling to an overall market averaged of 312p/kg or £130.14. Top price of the day came for a pen of Texels from JS Horner, Ingleton selling to £172. Top price per kilo was 361p for a pen of Beltex lambs from D Cockett, Ingleton. Heavy lambs were another strong trade with many selling at the £155-£160 mark, with an overall market average for heavy weight lambs being £144 per head. 38-42kg lambs full of meat were regularly selling at the 315-320p/kg mark. A pen full of 38kg lambs sold to £137 from D Cockett, Ingleton. More lambs are required each week for our ring side of nine active buyers. Spring Lamb Top Prices: Continental: £172 Ingleborough Park. Texel: £166 Lundholme Farm, £159 Burrow Heights Farm, £159 Old Parkside Farm, £157 North Farm, £151 Cocker House Farm, £150 Arna Wood Farm. Suffolk: £150 Inglebrough Park, £147 Knowsley Farm, £142 (2), £140 Cocker House Farm, £137 Hallbeck. Beltex: £141, £139, £137, £132, £130, £127 Wilson Wood.

Prime Hoggs 187 hoggs were forward with hoggs full of meat selling to a premium. Texel hoggs from Bargh Contractors, Heaton with Oxcliffe sold to £162 with others selling to £130 from the same home. Swaledale hoggs sold to £115 from J Bargh & Son, Heaton with Oxcliffe. A run of Swaledale hoggs from DC Miller, Claughton on Brock sold to £109. Prime Hogg Top Prices: Texel: £162, £130 Old Woodhouse, £108, £106 Throstle Grove Farm, £100 Lakeside View. Swaledale: £115, £110 North Farm, £109, £108 (2), £106 Cobble Hey. Mule: £112, £102 Rooten Brook. Suffolk: £109 (2) Mill House Farm. Scottish Backface: £109, £107, £105 Lakeside View.

Cast Sheep 123 cast sheep sold to another impressive trade with all forward averaging £126. Top price of the day was a Texel selling to £200 from JS Horner, Ingleton. A pen of 6 Texel ewes sold to £180 from H Cooper & son, Inskip. Mule ewes sold to a top of £140 from H Birkett & Son, Overton with the best Mule ewes selling £135 plus. Lonk ewes sold to a top of £116 from RS Raby, Farlton.
