Weekly Report and Newsletter - 17th September J36 Rural Auction Centre: Show & Sale of NEMSA Gimmer Lambs - Saturday 11th September 2021 North West Auctions held is annual Mule Gimmer Lamb sale on behalf of the Kendal Branch of NEMSA. There were 7413 gimmer lambs forward which sold to a market average of £124.88, an increase of £30.61 on the year. The sale peaked at £550 for lambs shown by first time vendors S Allan & Sons, Dufton. Other noted prices included the Champion pen of ten, from AC & K Pye, Abbeystead at £290 whom sold another pen of ten at £240.
Selside lambs proved popular as £195 was achieved on two occasions by TA & J Dixon and JA & CA Gibson. This was closely followed by Messrs Hodgson, Windermere achieving £192. Top pens of lambs generally selling at £145-£170 with keen interest shown for the middle run of lambs suitable for tupping, generally £118-£130, running lambs regularly selling at £110-£115. The much-desired Bruce Willison memorial shield for the best run of lambs in the market was kindly judged by Chris Harrison and awarded to TA & JA Dixon, Selside for an excellent run of 318 lambs.
