Prime Hoggs A larger show with 700 prime hoggs were forward, which saw a strong demand for all types and a pleasing average of 281p/kg achieved. Texels sold to a top of £163 from R&DL Cornthwaite, Nateby with Beltexs selling to £154 from AG Butler, Hambleton. Heavy Continental bred hoggs were regularly selling at £145 to £150. A nice show of better bred hoggs were forward, with the best seeing Texels to 330p/kg from KA Purtill, Wigan with Dutch Spotted selling to 325p/kg from I Richardson, Catford with numerous pens at 310p/kg plus. Medium weighted lambs sold to a flying trade with 44kg Texels to £140 from KA Purtill, Wigan with P Lawrenson & Son, Chorley achieving the same price. Over half todays sale would be upland bred hoggs which saw Cheviots to £149 from P Prickett, Hutton Roof with others to £141 from A&J Smith, Ingleton. Mule saw a top of £134 from AG Butler, Hambleton with other pens of Mules to £121 for 45kg hoggs from RH&C Ayrton, Abbeystead. Dalesbred sold to £110 for 39kg hoggs from S&J France, Over Wyresdale.
