Q3 WITH 30 FSS

In Review

Building Community Through Connection and Celebration This quarter was filled with incredible opportunities for our Vandenberg community to come together and make memories, from cheering on the world’s best soccer teams to camping under the stars, our events brought something for everyone! Here are four highlights that made this past quarter highly memorable.

Kicking Off with the FIFA World Cup Final On July 19, more than 100 members of our community gathered for the FIFA World Cup Finale Watch Party to watch Spain take on Argentina. The excitement started when the doors opened for a soccer shootout competition at the PCC’s Gamer Grounds, featuring their multisport simulator. Three winners were crowned from the shootout competition, each taking home a prize! Then the Space Bar transformed into a lively watch party as attendees cheered on their favorite team. The event was a fantastic way for our community to come together, enjoy some friendly competition, and experience the excitement of the World Cup!

Investing in the Future at the Education Fair On July 14, the Education Center hosted their annual Education Fair, helping military members, spouses, and family members explore opportunities to further their education. More than 20 universities were on hand to connect with attendees, answer questions, and provide information about degree programs and other educational opportunities. The day offered plenty of fun for the whole family as well. Attendees enjoyed a free lunch, bounce houses for the kids, and prizes were available throughout the event! The Education Fair was a great example of how Vandenberg continues to connect its community with resources that can help them grow and succeed.

Camping Under the Stars at the 2026 Base Campout On July 31, Outdoor Recreation took families outside for the 2026 Base Campout at Cocheo Park. With a record number of families registered, the campout was one of the quarter’s biggest family-focused events. Attendees enjoyed a classic campout dinner of hot dogs and burgers. Families gathered for s’mores, yard games, and an outdoor showing of Finding Nemo. The night became even more memorable when attendees gathered to watch the launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket! The following morning, campers enjoyed a pancake breakfast before packing up their tents and heading home. With good food, family fun, and a night under the stars, the Base Campout created memories that families will always remember.

Vandenberg Summer Bash & Youth Celebration On August 07, the M&FRC and School Liaison teams hosted the Vandenberg Summer Bash & Youth Celebration, bringing together more than 1,200 attendees for a day focused on families, community, and connection. The event connected service members and their families with local agencies, businesses, and community resources, while enjoying activities designed for all ages. A highlight for local students was the School Liaison’s backpack giveaway. With help from Operation Homefront, school-aged children received free backpacks filled with school supplies to help them start the new school year. Summer Bash was an incredible celebration of the Vandenberg community and the partnerships that help make our base such a great place to live and work!

Looking Ahead Quarter 3 was a reminder of the many ways our Vandenberg community comes together. Each event offered something different, but shared the same goal: creating opportunities for our service members and families to connect, have fun, and make lasting memories. Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, organized, and helped make these events possible. We are proud of the community we continue to build together and look forward to an even more exciting quarter ahead!

Meet the School Liaison Officer: Crystal Adams! Crystal Adams is your School Liaison Officer for Vandenberg Space Force Base! Her mission is to make sure every military child has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially and emotionally, no matter where the mission takes your family. She works directly with parents, students, schools, and command teams to remove barriers, strengthen communication, and ensure families have clear guidance through every stage of their educational journey. Crystal assists families with navigating enrollment, registration, academic requirements, school options, and state-specific policies. When you PCS, She helps interpret the Interstate Compact Agreement also known as MIC3, support placement and credit transfers, and works to reduce academic disruption. If challenges arise with special education, discipline, access to services, or school communication, she will advocate alongside you to find solutions. She also connects families with base resources, youth programs, EFMP, mental health supports, and community agencies. During deployments or family separations, she helps coordinate communication and resources to support student well-being and stability.

She also collaborates with local school districts to strengthen partnerships, expand access to STEM and enrichment programs, and support college and career readiness pathways. In short, Crystal is here to provide continuity, clarity, advocacy, and connection for the entire base population. Whether you are a parent, a service member, or leadership, her role is to ensure you have the information, support, and partnerships needed to help your students succeed.

Please reach out anytime, she's here for you and your family!

MORALE, WELFARE & RECREATION (MWR) Our MWR program is designed to enhance the quality of life for military personnel, their families, retirees and civilians working on our installations. This program supports a variety of leisure opportunities, libraries, and youth programs that are vital to the well-being of our military community. Our MWR program is made possible through the generosity of donations and sponsorships from local businesses that want to make a positive impact on our community. As a supporter, they have the opportunity to reach the military market where we live, work, and play, and increase their brand awareness.
