The show features 10 pieces in a range of mediums: fabric, wood, acrylic and even film is used in three videos belonging to the show. The show’s eponymous piece, a picture of sheets drying in open air, is from a series called “Flags.” Nails and wires seem to pin newspaper clippings behind the semitransparent sheets. Among the sheets is a Cuban flag wafting in the wind with the laundry as just another piece of fabric. Mirabal called the series one of the most important works he’s done in his entire career.

La cuestión de si los cubanos merecían calidez o no cambió con el liderazgo. En una nueva muestra titulada “La Historia Detrás de las Sábanas”, el artista cubano Michel Mirabal ofrece otra forma de pensar sobre el país: la gente. La exposición presenta 10 piezas en una variedad de medios: tela, madera, acrílico e incluso se usa película en tres videos pertenecientes a la muestra. La pieza homónima de la muestra, una imagen de sábanas secándose al aire libre, pertenece a una serie llamada “Banderas”.
