KC Library, Black Archives partner to launch Black History site

ansas City’s Black history is now L K presented more fully in a digital museum created through a partnership helmed in part by The Kansas City Public Library. The library was joined by the Black Archives of Mid-America and the Local Investment Commission (LINC) in creating the Kansas City Black History website, website, an electronic highlight important African Americans with local routes. There are more than 80 individuals highlighted in the resources from a range of industries and legacies. Visitors can learn about Cathay Williams, the first African American woman to enlist in the U.S. Army who joined in spite of a gender restriction on female soldiers, or get to know more about jazz giant Charlie Parker, including where he went to high school (spoiler: it was Lincoln High School).
