Celebrate National Jewish Book Month

Each November, the Palm Beach County Library System joins libraries and readers across the country in celebrating National Jewish Book Month. This annual observance highlights the rich tradition of Jewish literature and the many ways it reflects history, culture and contemporary life.

Throughout the month, discover works by Jewish authors and stories that explore themes of heritage, resilience, identity and imagination. From classic writers such as Isaac Bashevis Singer and Chaim Potok to contemporary voices like Nicole Krauss and Jonathan Safran Foer, Jewish literature offers perspectives that continue to inspire and connect readers of all backgrounds.

Visit your local branch to browse featured book displays or explore the Library’s online catalog for a wide selection of novels, memoirs, poetry and nonfiction. Whether you’re interested in tales of immigration, explorations of faith or modern fiction that captures today’s diverse Jewish experiences, you’ll find something to spark your interest. Library staff are also available to recommend titles for adults, teens and youth. For readers who prefer digital formats, many Jewish-themed titles are available as eBooks and audiobooks through the Library’s online services.

National Jewish Book Month provides an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of Jewish writers and to share stories that encourage conversation and understanding. Stop by the Library this November and take part in this literary tradition. For activities honoring Jewish heritage, look for the Icon.

November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor the history, culture and traditions of the first peoples of this land. There are currently 574 federally recognized tribes in the United States, each with distinct languages, practices and beliefs.

Native Americans were the first engineers, environmental stewards and storytellers here. From advanced farming systems like the “Three Sisters” method (corn, beans and squash grown together) to the enduring oral histories that preserve centuries of wisdom, their contributions shape the nation’s identity. The month also serves as a reminder of resilience. Despite centuries of displacement and hardship, Native communities continue to thrive, revitalize languages and share cultural practices. Celebrating Native American Heritage Month means recognizing both the deep history and the ongoing presence of Native peoples today. For activities celebrating Native American Heritage look for the icon.
