Louisa Adams (1775–1852),

wife of President John Quincy Adams, was the first First Lady born abroad. Born in London, she faced personal challenges, including a perilous journey during the Napoleonic Wars, to support her husband’s career. As First Lady, she hosted influential events and enriched Washington’s cultural life.
