Terese Borowy,
owner of Terese European Skin and Body Care
Terese European Skin and Body Care has been operating in Marin for more than 25 years. Custom skin care treatments are always uniquely focused, providing products, procedures and techniques chosen to best achieve the desired results. Terese replenishes what Mother Nature forgot to give or has taken away.
Where did you learn your craft?
I have studied and practiced in Sweden, Poland, France and Austria. I enjoy helping people of all ages experience the joy of having beautiful, healthy skin. Seventy percent of my clients have been with me for more than 10 years each, with multiple generations of the same family under my care.
What kinds of services do you offer?
I offer a full range of customized, advanced skin care specializing in antiaging treatments like microcurrent facials and rosacea, acne and sensitive and dry skin therapies. I also offer brow shaping, tints, cellulite appearance reduction and more. I help people be the best they can be, at any age.
How do you choose a particular treatment or product?
I understand skin changes with time and treatments need to be adjusted accordingly. I create, select and test each step and product for maximum results. I choose the best products for each custom treatment, using many quality and cruelty-free brands such as Babor.
You use cruelty-free brands?
Yes, we use only cruelty-free cosmetics as well as traditional and highly effective herbal therapies. We support organizations like PETA, Boxer Rescue and the Humane Society, that are known for fighting animal abuse. We are proud to say that all gratuities earned are sent in support of these important and worthwhile causes.

Karen Tate, owner of Junction Shoes
Junction Shoes offers fine, stylish shoes by boutique European designers. Our focus is on footwear you want to wear every day for work, around town and casual evenings out. This reflects our Marin lifestyle. We appeal to the woman who has a relaxed and confident sense of style and a more minimalist than maximalist approach to living and dressing.
What inspires your selection?
There are those artful classic necessities in our life that beautifully combine form, line and function, like the fork, knife, spoon, our cell phones or riding boots. So, thoughtful design is the basis of the shoes, handbags, tops and accessories I choose. Textiles, sculpture and art history are reference points.
What led you into retail?
My background is in textiles. Most of my career was in sweater design and manufacturing back east. I went to work in those wonderful old granite New England mills. At trade shows I always enjoyed my retail buyers. Having a store is a natural progression from that. It has always been a dream to have my own shop.
How did your business come to be at the Hub in San Anselmo?
It was my intention to open a retail store. A year ago, while waiting for the traffic light to turn, it struck me that we needed a cool shoe store in the Ross Valley. The shop is located near the very spot where I waited for that light. And just 10 weeks later, I was open for business.
What product, service that you offer is your favorite?

Free parking outside my door is probably second to seeing my customers enjoying my unique selection, leaving with a new pair of shoes and finding a bounce in their step.
