As a part of the introductory digital photography class at Pratt, many students and I explored and experimented with fundamental photo concepts such as depth of field, color, natural, and architectural lighting, and much more. Throughout learning about the camera and different editing programs/ capabilities, I began to become extremely engaged with lighting, motion, and the ways manipulating these two ideas can create different types of images. Tied to my interest in architectural photography, motion, and lighting only skim the surface of this relationship. While the images I submitted
“25 FEET Off Higgins” is a truly student organized zine publication that aims to showcase student work on an accessible and personal scale. We are unofficial, unpolished, nonbureaucratic, and off Higgins.

Hunter Tran “Memories and Moments from my Cam”
aren’t strictly tied to architectural photography, I wanted to show images I had a great time creating (whether that be from the editing, the production, or from the shared experience I had with my friends). I think the camera can be a communicative tool, and what I’ve learned most importantly this semester is the accessibility of the camera. Everybody is a photographer!
The book’s title acknowledges that Higgins is where we emerged and where we were originally from. However, we must stay away from its jurisdiction. 25 feet from Higgins is where students are allowed to smoke. “25 FEET Off Higgins” is where students are allowed to express themselves freely while having proximity to their base. It is a discussion from beyond Higgins; to be brought back into Higgins.
