From 2005–2010 he served as Artistic Director of Second Generation and Co-Director of the Ma-Yi Writers Lab, and since 2011 as the Director of Artistic Programs at The Lark. He has served since 2015 on the Dramatists Guild Council.

RALPH B. PEÑA (Director ) (he/him) Long Wharf Theatre debut. Recent directing credits include the Off-Broadway premieres of Jessica Hagedorn’s Felix Starro, Mike Lew’s microcrisis, Hansol Jung’s Among the Dead, and Lloyd Suh’s The Chinese Lady. His work has been seen at The Public Theater, Children’s Theater Co., Laguna Playhouse, Victory Gardens, NAATCO, and Ma-Yi Theater Co. for which he serves as Artistic Director. Under his artistic leadership, Ma-Yi Theater Co. has become the country’s leading incubator of new plays by Asian American playwrights with a history of productions garnering numerous awards, including nine Obie Awards, the Off-Broadway Alliance Award, nine Drama Desk nominations, a special Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Achievement in Theater and, most recently, a Lucille Lortel Award and the Ross Wetzsteon Obie Award. Ralph is a member of Ensemble Studio Theatre. This is for Damien, always and forever.

L O N G W H A R F T H E A T R E history Established in 1965 at the start of the regional theatre movement, Long Wharf Theatre was born on the notion that New Haven deserves an active culture that is locally created. Our founders shared the dream of starting a professional theatre company in Connecticut, built with the aid of community leaders and patrons of the arts. We are a theatre of international renown, recognized for a historic commitment to commissioning, developing, and producing new work that has become a part of the modern American canon. More than 30 Long Wharf Theatre productions have transferred to Broadway or Off-Broadway runs, three of which—Wit, The Shadow Box, and The Gin Game—won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama. We were among the earliest recipients of the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre (1978) and our productions have earned numerous accolades including Tony, New York Drama Critics Circle, and Obie Awards; a Margo Jones Award, and nominations and Connecticut Critics Circle Awards in nearly every category.

Under the guidance of Artistic Director Jacob G. Padrón and Managing Director Kit Ingui, in partnership with a dedicated staff and Board, Long Wharf Theatre annually engages 50,000 people like you through productions, arts education programs, and community partnerships. ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES The Claire Tow Stage in the C. Newton Schenck III Theatre and Stage II are both fully accessible and offer automated doors, wheelchair seating, and Induction Hearing Loop listening systems. The Induction Hearing Loop System is accessible to patrons with Telecoil enabled hearing aids; the system is also available via headset which can be acquired at the box office prior to the performance. Long Wharf Theatre gratefully acknowledges the support of Apple Pickers Foundation and the Carol L. SENSORY FRIENDLY Sensory friendly guides and sensory bags are available pre-show at the patron information table. Bags include noise reducing headphones, two fidgets, a picture communication key ring, a visual story about visiting the theatre, a notebook, pen and crayons. A valid ID is required for check out.

TOUCH TOURS Meet us in the lobby the first Saturday Matinee of each production, one hour before curtain, for a 30-45 minute interactive tour and presentation detailing elements of each production gathered from our props, costumes, and scenic departments.
