It’s something that’s grown and developed over time. You’ve started that growth here with us and will continue to develop and refine it over time. It is our hope that every one of you can now look in the mirror and see that leader inside of you.

You are the leaders who are changing the world. It’s happening now and will happen in the future, because there is no age requirement, no gender, no race or ethnicity, and no title needed to become a great leader. YOU are it! YOU are important! The past year and half has reminded all of us how critical it is to have diverse and empathetic leaders in this world. 21st Century Leaders are those type of leaders.

When you reflect on your time with us, hold on to those 21st Century Leaders' core leadership competencies and values you've been taught and always remember that "leadership is not about you, it's about all those around you." As you embark on this new journey to college, the military, or as entrepreneurs, it’s your actions that will define you and your leadership style no matter your job or title.

We hope you found your 21st Century Leaders experience a fulfilling one as you connected with hundreds of diverse and passionate professionals and motivated peers, transformed your leadership skills, and felt inspired to give back to your community.

Favorite 21CL Memory: Going to 21CL Ambassador meetings in Atlantic Station!

21CL Impact: I really enjoyed 21CL and benefited from it because it taught me about how the professional world communicates- whether it be on LinkedIn or other forms of networking. Through roundtable conversations and HR workshops, I learned how to use my social skills in a professional manner.

LAILAH SIMMONS DUTCHTOWN HIGH SCHOOL | HENRY COUNTY

Future Plans: Attend North Carolina A&T State University and major in Computer Graphics Technology. I aspire to be a Graphic Designer and/or an entrepreneur and I have already started my own businesses. I make glass-bead bracelets and I have an online clothing shop where all of the designs are mine.

Favorite 21CL Memory: During EarthCare Institute in 2017. It was the first night and we did a "Walk To The Other Side" game; it was the first time I shared some of the saddest moments I'd been through and that embrace after felt good. That night I made an important friend, Terence Pennyman. We had fun and learned a lot about each other and are still in touch even though we haven't seen each other in person since then!

21CL Impact: 21CL has impacted me in many different ways and has taught me how to be a more effective leader and how to work better with others. My public speaking has gotten much better and in turn, I have had a growing ease in engaging with new people.

EMILY DEMPS NORTH ATLANTA HIGH SCHOOL | FULTON COUNTY

After graduating I want to become a positive influence in my community, instilling confidence among my peers and connecting big corporations to community-based organizations and ensuring there are long-lasting programs to improve people's lives!

Favorite 21CL Memory: While attending SYLI at Goizueta Business School and my team won the group contest! I thoroughly enjoyed the connections with peers, the networking opportunities and the excursions we went on!

21CL Impact: Because of 21CL I am a stronger leader! My confidence has grown, my communication abilities flourished and I am more able to leave a positive impact on my community!

Future Plans: Attend University of Georgia and major in Pharmaceutical Sciences & Russian Language. I want to become a pharmaceutical researcher and develop cost-effective alternatives to detrimental-to-life medications.

Favorite 21CL Memory: I don't have a specific one, but I enjoyed the team projects I was involved in. I liked being able to work with others and bouncing ideas in order to make a product that is representative of all of us!

21CL Impact: 21CL has impacted me as a leader and overall as a person by allowing me to practice my social and leadership skills with others, like how to take charge in a situation and keep projects progressing!

Future Plans: Attend Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design Dual Degree and major in Sociology and Illustration and later become an Artist and Community Activist!

Favorite 21CL Memory: My favorite memories are from going to SYLI and becoming friends with everyone, specifically Delaney Strunk who has become a mentor and a friend to me!

21CL Impact: 21CL has given me the confidence to pursue my interests and empowered me to bring those leadership resources back to my community. The organization has given me so many opportunities to network with career professionals and build my own identity as a leader. I have been part of 21CLubs for two years and have loved it. I hope to continue teaching other students how to become leaders too!!

Favorite 21CL Memory: My favorite 2CL memory is attending the summer program and interacting with like-minded peers and participating in group activities while having fun even through the computer screen!

21CL Impact: 21CL opened my eyes to believing in my capability to change the world and make it a better place as a leader in small rooms as well as in big ones.

No matter where I go I shall step up to the plate of serving those around me with the best of my ability to be the change I want to see!

Future Plans: Attend Albany State University and major in Marketing and later use my skills to reach people and make change in the world!

Favorite 21CL Memory: My favorite memory is my time at SYLI at the Emory Goizueta School. The group I was in was the gammas and we created our chant GAMMA GAMMA GAMMA U and all of us became such close friends!

21CL Impact: 21CL helped me realize the type of person I want to be. I have realized that when I have a passion for something, I can do anything and I have been able to see that people actually follow me when they trust and believe in me!

Thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of your family. You guys have helped me find some friends that I know I can always talk to. I love you guys!!

KENNEDY LEVISTER SOUTH COBB HIGH SCHOOL | COBB COUNTY

Future Plans: Attend Georgia State University and major in Journalism with a minor in Film and Media. I plan on becoming a writer for multiple journals, moving into broadcasting, and doing some work in the film industry!

Favorite 21CL Memory: My favorite memory from 21CL is meeting Carl Azuz and hearing about how he got to where he is today!

21CL Impact: 21CL has helped to make me much more comfortable expressing creative ideas and valuing my input as a collaborator! I’m so glad I had the opportunity to participate in this program, I met amazing people and it has benefitted me greatly!

Favorite 21CL Memory: My favorite 21CL memory is attending EarthCare and staying on campus at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville. I felt really grown up!

21CL Impact: 21CL has had a positive impact on my leadership journey. Being a part of this organization helped me to be a better speaker and presenter at school and at work. I appreciate the opportunities I have had through 21CL.

class of 2021 ALVIN WRIGHT CLARKSTON HIGH SCHOOL | DEKALB COUNTY

Favorite Quote: "Civility is not a sign of weakness." - John F. Kennedy Future Plans: Go to The George Washington University as a Posse Scholar and major in International Relations or Computer Science. I intend to work for the US foreign Service as a diplomat or as a Foreign Policy Expert.

Favorite 21CL Memory: During the one-week Youth Media Institute at Georgia Tech in the summer of 2019. We had a salsa dance, and I had a great deal of fun dancing.

21CL Impact: 21CL has profoundly influenced my life at the time when I was relatively new to the U.S. Participating in the WarnerMedia Youth Media Institute exposed me to American educational life, drastically increased my confidence, taught me leadership skills and professionalism. Partaking in the numerous interviews conducted by 21CL boosted my public speaking skills and I've also learned to be more inclusive and to accept differences in people. I have been part of 21CLubs and this has been transformative. I'm blessed to have been among the few students in America who got to have this experience. I love 21CL and I will never forget the lessons it's taught me and the indelible impact it's had on me.

Favorite 21CL Memory: My favorite 21CL memory is at the Mercedes Benz summit.

It was so interesting and enjoyable to listen to the speakers tell us about their roles in the company and how each one of them and together they contribute to the success of the company. We also got to take pictures in front of all the beautiful cars!

21CL Impact: 21CL has made me much more confident in myself and how I brand and present myself to other people.

Favorite 21CL Memory: My favorite memory of 21CL is the Networking and sharing of thoughts among the 21CL family.

21CL Impact: 21CL has taught me about diversity and about how listening and respecting other's opinions is extremely important for team-building and for success in general!

class of 2021 MADISON KENNEY GEORGIA CONNECTIONS ACADEMY | COBB COUNTY

Favorite Quote: "Ain't no thing like me, except me!" - Rocket Racoon (Guardians of the Galaxy)

Future Plans: Attend Kennesaw State University and major in Mechatronics Engineering which is a combination of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science that’s used mainly in the area of robotics. With the area of robotics still growing it’s very possible that there are jobs in robotics that currently don’t exist just yet and that I could even create my own job inventing, researching, and testing new robotics systems.

Favorite 21CL Memory: At the 2019 SYLI institute where I was the winner of a massive rock-paper-scissors game. At the final round having everyone around cheering was pretty scary and stressful but at the same time so fun and exciting to win, I had a good time!

21CL Impact: I've always been focused on STEAM and joining 21CL gave me a chance to focus on other things like leadership. As a 21CL Youth Ambassador, writing informative articles last semester was the most fulfilling thing to me because I've always enjoined discussing important topics like the electoral college, voting, and online learning. Overall 21CL has given me the opportunity to improve my leadership skills and be able to apply it to any situation, whether it be in or outside of the STEAM field!

Favorite 21CL Memory: My favorite memory of 21CL is participating in the WarnerMedia Institute for Future Leaders and hearing professionals in my field of interest talk about their career paths!

21CL Impact: 21CL has allowed me to build self-confidence and improve my professional skills which has consequently boosted my leadership capabilities.

CONNER KANALY LOVETT SCHOOL | FULTON COUNTY

Favorite 21CL Memory: On our Braves Day Summit, we were shown the baseball course, but more importantly where everything happens, scoring, announcements, the Big Screen. It was tremendously interesting and an amazing opportunity to be a part of!

21CL Impact: 21st Century Leaders has helped make me a leader I am today. I have more confidence around professionals; my elevator speech, public introductions/speaking, and my overall ability to network with anyone has been enhanced; whether that be a business tycoon or an ordinary person. Most importantly, 21CL has helped me gain connections with peers and professionals throughout the state of Georgia allowing me to have lots of career opportunities!

Future Plans: Attend University of North Carolina Greensboro and major in Nutrition Science. I'm passionate about healthy living and organic foods. Health is wealth and I 'd like to contribute in some way to a more healthy planet!

21CL Impact: 21CL gave me leadership skills. I was only able to attend the Virtual Institute, and I'm confident I would have even benefitted more with in-person interactions.

21CL Impact: 21CL has helped me to build and redefine leadership skills at a personal and professional level which will come in handy as I embark on a new chapter of my life going to college. I believe these skills are vital and necessary for success! What I learned has allowed me to better understand who I am as an individual and how I can be a better person in society!

21CL Impact: 21CL impacted my leadership skills by reinforcing my status because I am here for the people and will always be. I have achieved great success due to my Posse nomination and if it wasn't for Ms. Nicole Meadows, I would not know my Posse members today. This program believed in me as a leader and they have my eternal gratitude for that!

Favorite 21CL Memory: On the last day of the WarnerMedia Youth Institute, sitting in the dining hall for lunch with my friends in our formal outfits after doing a presentation and taking pictures and enjoying each other's company!

21CL Impact: 21CL has helped to develop my leadership skills and has reaffirmed my ability to be a kind, caring person, while also being a strong leader.

Favorite 21CL Memory: When I attended SYLI in 2019 and we got to visit the Coca-Cola Headquarters and listen to the COO of Zaxby’s and executive for Sprite!

21CL Impact: 21st Century Leaders has shown me that being a leader is about being of service to my community and that's more important than being in charge!

21CL Impact: 21CL has taught me to lead by focusing on serving others in my community. I have also learned that as I lead, I need to think about how I can make the world a better place for others. Additionally, I have been part of a 21CLub and I have learned many skills, how to prepare for interviews, resume-writing, setting goals, how to set up LinkedIn, how to be resilient in life, etc...

21CL Impact: What I learned from the Institutes I attended is that confidence is key to being a good leader and a good speaker. This came in handy when I had my interview for the Southern Leaders program at Georgia Southern, I was one of only a few that were chosen!

Future Plans: Attend New York University and major in Business Management with a concentration in Finance.

Favorite 21CL Memory: My favorite 21CL memory is waking up every morning to music blasting and someone banging on my door. I will say that in the moment it was a little frustrating but it helped me to wake up everyday feeling motivated and ready to be a leader!

21CL Impact: 21CL not only has played a huge role in my journey to becoming the person I am today, but has also given me so much confidence and has made me more secure with myself. Being around all the talented and driven people I have met through 21CL helped me to realize that my wildest dreams may not be so out of reach. After attending SYLI, I wanted to be able to expand my leadership and taking part in a 21CLub has let me achieve that. I have loved seeing the students in my community grow into amazing leaders. Being Co-President of a 21CLub has truly been a blessing!

Favorite 21CL Memory: One of my favorite memories is volunteering at a church and packing backpacks with snacks and seeing so many people be so efficient and calm and happy.

21CL Impact: 21CL has made me much more confident in my life choices and eager to step forward into life outside of school!

CODY NELSON ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL | DEKALB COUNTY

Favorite 21CL Memory: Two years ago at SYLI, the counselors ordered pizza for us, some people took too much so there wasn't enough for everybody. We ended up having a big discussion about it and we came to a solution!

21CL Impact: 21CL has helped me understand that being a good leader is about listening to others and considering everyone's input. At 21CL, I had great fun and a great learning experience.

Favorite 21CL Memory: Speaking at the end-of-camp celebration at the 2019 WarnerMedia Institute. It was literally incredible being able to speak in front of my friends and family and show everyone the leader I just learned I could be!

21CL Impact: I'll never be able to fully put into words just how much 21CL has helped me to grow. I've made more friends and connections than I can count, and the memories and laughs I made in this organization have a special place in my heart! Thank you 21CL, I will never forget this!

Favorite 21CL Memory: My favorite memory at 21CL is attending the WarnerMedia Institute! It was such a fun time to hear and learn from mentors! I loved being a part of others who wanted to learn like me!

21CL Impact: 21CL has helped me learn to step out of my comfort zone and try to absorb every amount of information there is. I learned how important connections are!

21CL Impact: 21CL has definitely forced me to step out of my comfort zone and be more vocal and assertive.

DORA RICE RPOVIDENCE CHRISTIAN ACADEMY | DEKALB COUNTY

Future Plans: Attend North Carolina A&T State University and major in Kinesiology/sports Medicine. I am inspired to pursue a career in sports medicine with an emphasis on kinesiology by the personal strength that it has taken to recover from my own injuries in cheerleading, gymnastics, and track; by generations of my family members who have sacrificed and dedicated their lives to the field of medicine and sports; and, by the way God heals the human body. My injuries include concussion, broken bones, hamstring pull, and sprains. I would like to immerse myself in the training, development, orientation, and treatment of students and professional athletes. My entrepreneurial spirit hopes to combine business and medicine in order to be able to open my own practice and give back to my community. I would like to ensure that underserved populations get deserving attention to excel in sports which increases confidence to think beyond their limitations. I want to learn how to inspire others to aspire to greatness.

Favorite 21CL Memory: Laughing and learning at SYLI Salsa Night!

21CL Impact: 21CL taught me that I can reach beyond my geographical, local community to make a difference. I learned about the power of ONE. Differences can be overcome through the universal language of dance, food, and fellowship. I have also learned that “courage is a skill.” My leadership experiences have challenged me to have more courage to do new things in other areas of my life. I was encouraged to Be Bold, Creative, and Open-Minded. I was reminded to be and do ME.

Favorite 21CL Memory: Attending my first 21CL summer institute in 2019! It was my first 21CL event and I had a wonderful time. I was nervous at first, not knowing anyone but over the course of that week I was able to network with peers that I’m glad to call friends. I didn't enjoy waking up so early, but that was a small price to pay for the fantastic week of meeting new people, doing behind-the-scenes tours in great corporations and networking with professionals all while having fun!

21CL Impact: As a leader, it's important to interact with other people so you can network and build strong connections. 21CL helped me gain more confidence to reach out to more people. I learned that it doesn’t matter who you know, it’s who knows you.

Although I seem outgoing and can talk amongst peers, I get shy taking initiative when it comes to people of a higher position, but I learned being a doormat won't help you get noticed in this world. Favorite 21CL Memory: My absolute favorite 21st Century Leaders memory would have to be doing the obstacle course during EarthCare in 2018. I was honestly so scared and so was my partner however we pushed through our fears and were able to climb up the rock. Through that experience, my partner and I grew quite close and ended up becoming the closest of friends which in all honesty led to me becoming who I am today!

21CL Impact: 21CL has had a significant impact on me as a leader and a changemaker. I have attended three summer institutes and served as a Youth Ambassador for three consecutive years. Favorite 21CL Memory: This may not be my favorite, but it is definitely the most memorable experience from my time at a 21CL Summer Camp. While at the WarnerMedia Institute performing a group activity where we all stood in a large circle and would each call out scenarios that applied to us. If it related to one, they would step forward, and if not, we stood back. This way, we could identify those who had similar life experiences as us. As the game went on, the scenarios got deeper and deeper to the point where many students and mentors had tears in their eyes. I loved this exercise because it allowed us all to connect on a level that I would not have expected to connect with people in a summer camp. We formed a bond almost like family, and we all recognized each other's vulnerabilities. We pushed each other up for these vulnerabilities, never exploiting them nor making fun of them. I think this was the activity that helped us all develop a bond for each other!

21CL Impact: 21CL gave me the first opportunity to put myself out into the real world to try and make my own connections. These were connections I made with my peers, mentors, and professionals in the media industry. I learned proper etiquette, how to introduce a professional in their field, and even discovered what an elevator speech is. I learned what servant leadership is and how to properly implement it in community service as a Youth Ambassador. The projects we completed as Youth Ambassadors, especially in the virtual setting, taught me how to coordinate meetings and assignments with people from all around the state. I learned how to keep up with deadlines and how to manage a team that didn't see each other on a daily, weekly, or even monthly basis.

Favorite 21CL Memory: The day I stepped on the Georgia Tech campus for the summer leadership experience a few years ago, I will never forget that! The friendship and camaraderie we built, the teambuilding exercises we engaged in like dancing, staying up and playing games, walking the campus, and being given the ultimate challenge of each team having to come up with the best business plan, were things I truly enjoyed and learned so much from. As if those experiences were not enough, the ultimate was meeting and mingling with top notch executives from companies like AT&T, Coca-Cola and the likes. Having access to them first hand, sharing their talent and knowledge with us, was absolutely priceless. I still thank 21CL for making these experiences possible. My team did not win, but we got honorable mention and 3rd or 4th place, I was most proud of the way my teammates worked so well together.

21CL Impact: Being around like minded students at 21CL trainings, and seeing how everyone's uniqueness is celebrated has made me realize that it's OK to be different and have one's own interests. 21CL always stays true to the students and families they serve. Their support and keeping their promises on every level, the standards and expectations they uphold, is truly a great example I will maintain and apply to my relationships. They have also taught me that I could do anything I put my mind to.

Favorite 21CL Memory: I really enjoyed the support of the staff and the friendship bonds created during my time in the 21CL program. I also will cherish the memories of networking and class discussions with my peer and the professionals I met.

21CL Impact: 21CL helped me to build my confidence level and reaffirm my dreams of becoming a professional in the future. During my time at the programs' experience, I was able to make presentations and speak in front of groups.

Future Plans: Go to Kennesaw State University and major in Computer Engineering. I have a passion for computers and networking, I want to be certified as a professional engineer and also plan to earn several certifications in the networking field like CCNA and CCNP. I want to be able to work with all types of computer hardware and software to help surpass the current limitations of computers and even create new aspects that help change the way computers are viewed and what purpose they serve in the world.

One other goal I have is to learn ethical hacking in order to help secure myself and others on the internet. Especially when coding, I know having a background in ethical hacking can help me ensure the code I use is not vulnerable to attacks. One other goal I have is to learn about how to properly manage my finances and invest into assets like stocks. I want to pursue my goal of financial independence and be able to retire early.

Favorite 21CL Memory: It was during SYLI when we all learned different styles of dancing; we were taught Merengue and a few other styles of dance. I had a lot of fun that night and even met some new people by being dance partners with them. I liked being able to relax and do something out of my comfort zone like that.

21CL Impact: 21CL has challenged me to be more than average by facilitating me to network and to communicate effectively. This impacts me every single day because I am able to better communicate with new people and have good conversations with mentors which in turn prepares me for times when I'll have a large audience to speak to or an important person who I'd want to connect with. Also, I can now network and clearly show my skills and experience to anybody who asks. I am prepared for the future!

SARAH OBURU ETOWAH HIGH SCHOOL | CHEROKEE COUNTY

I am working on the pre-law track to become a criminal and constitutional lawyer to work as a US Defense Attorney all the way to becoming the US Attorney General.

Favorite 21CL Memory: The WarnerMedia Institute in 2019 was the best week I have had with 21CL. There I made life long friends, created a cute little montage movie, played one too many UNO games, felt like I was living in a reality show all while growing personally and professionally. I had the opportunity to have a sit down dinner with my 6th grade celebrity crush, Carl Azuz. I snuck down every morning and got breakfast at GA Tech’s Panera Bread. I truly lived the college experience and made so many memories, took a lot of pictures and laughed and smiled more times than I could count.

21CL Impact: 21CL has taught me that leadership extends beyond a position or title.

I learned that leadership is about being a team player, being one who strives to leave a legacy behind of uplifting the people surrounding them while also learning from the team. 21CL has opened my eyes to the realm of possibilities for my career.

It has allowed me to combine my passions and turn them into lifelong projects. It has shown me how to network and connect with others that I would never have learned from anywhere else. It has provided me a community of like-minded peers who are constantly working towards the common good. Overall my participation in 21CL has been fundamental to my growth and success as an individual.

Favorite 21CL Memory: My favorite 21CL memory has to be attending the Youth Media Institute, allowing me to meet people that I call close friends, tour the CNN Atlanta Campus, Techwood Campus, and more... learn how to salsa, and learn about many careers in the entertainment and media industry. Although I wasn’t planning on attending the institute, a change of plans made me reconsider my decision and this was life-changing. I think that it’s safe to say that my life of an anti-social introvert ended after my legendary week at the camp, while my life of an introverted extrovert dedicated to advocacy speaking loud and proud began. I think that this camp jumpstarted Aylah Birks, while Aylah became an at home personality. Also, I remember that on the first day, it rained endlessly, and I had this huge umbrella, which was where I met so many of my friends, as we remained gathered under that huge umbrella squeezing together to keep from getting wet.

21CL Impact: 21st Century Leaders has impacted me as a leader by expanding my mentality and mindset on leadership, and also gave me networking, personal branding, etiquette, and friendship skills. While being a part of so many diverse, and driven individuals, it made me realize the brighter side of life, causing me to open up more and want to experience more. I also have been exposed to different cultures and practices which have inspired me to want to study abroad in college.

"Seoul and Elijah went to Bates Middle School together. Everyday he made a point of coming around to say or do something to make her smile. He loved that they both had the Major name and he just knew she was family. For her birthday, he bought her a monogrammed cup and some perfume for “his cousin.” She still has the cup but the perfume scent makes her think of how he made sure to put a smile on her face. He was “a warm fuzzy kinda person” and she remembers how his smile and words got her through some tough times. They were super excited when at the end of 8th grade they were both moving to Atlanta but we were never able to find out exactly where he was when we got here. He was one of the few boys at school who didn’t pick at her and she will always remember him for that!
