Greetings from the Directors
We are excited to invite you to this, inaugural session of the Auer International Piano Academy in Seoul, or AIPAS!
I first came to Korea in 1974 as a young performer. Now, many years and many visits later, in 2024, I and my wife Junghwa want to help gifted young pianists from all over the world to develop their talent and share it with audiences in Korea.
We have long felt that there must be a better solution to the formidable travel problems inherent in such a festival: participants must often travel vast distances to participate, which involves not only a large outlay of funds but also considerable fatigue in a situation where they must absolutely be at their best. Our solution is to situate ourselves in Asia, where almost all our students hail from anyway. This offers enormous convenience and savings for them, as well as bringing the cultural aspects to the very place we are hoping to enrich clearly a win-win situation.
Our world-renowned faculty is looking forward to working with our talented and eager students to make this Academy a multifaceted and richly rewarding experience for everyone!
Finally, we are so touched by President Dae-jin Kim, and Dean Kangho Lee who see the potential of AIPAS and are opening the KNUA campus up to these young international pianists.
We look forward to greeting you all at AIPAS!
Edward Auer & Junghwa Moon Auer
