CONTENTS The Jacksonville Event Running Guide is published four times a year by the 1st Place Sports Running Club. The purpose of this guide is to give you the latest information on training and upcoming events, and to keep you updated on the running s ce n e. This magazine can be a substitute for entry forms, so please use the forms in this book to register for any of the listed races.

You can reach over 20,000 runners, wa l ke r s , and cyclists by advertising in this publication.

If you are entering 1st Place Sports races, you can get more information about upcoming events and results from our past races on the internet at www.1 st p l a ce s p o r t s .co m . P l e a s e save this m a g a z i n e for packet pickup information and day-of-race i n s t r u c t i o n s . S o m e o f t h e l a rg e r races will send you a confirmation of entry, but most of the time you should just pick up your packet as indicated on the race ad.

The Jacksonville Running Event Guide is mailed to runners who have participated in one of our events in the last quarter. It is free! All we ask is that you let us know when you have a change of address.

We wish everyone could receive a free Guide each quarter, but costs prohibit it. If you have run a race in the last quarter, we will mail you a Running Guide for the next quarter. If you do not get one and would like to receive one, you can pick up a copy at one of the 1st Place Sports running store locations.

5K TRAINING SCHEDULE This schedule is designed to give the beginning runner the necessary training to complete a 5K race at a comfortable pace. The key is to exercise for 30 minutes four times per week. The Saturday run should include a 5 minute walking warm up and warm down. Start out at a pace that you can hold for the entire run. 1ST THURSDAYS WITH JOI Thursday, April 5th: 1st Place Sports Town Center Store, 4870 Big Island Drive Brandon J. Kambach, MD, Spine – JOI Baptist South will present "Core Stabilization for Runners & Athletes," from 7 - 7:30 PM, followed by a 15 minute Q&A session.

Fun Run prior from 6 - 6:45 pm. Sarah Katsaras, PT/JOI Rehab – San Marco will be available to chat pre/post the Fun Run.

GOOD FORM RUNNING CLINICS Join 1st Place Sports as we offer a running clinic to help you become a faster and more efficient runner. The clinic is offered on Wednesday nights at your selected 1st Place Sports location at 6:00 PM. The clinic is free, but is limited to twenty runners per class. Running is a skill to be learned. Let us show you the proper techniques, which could make you a faster runner, make your running easier, and help you avoid common running injuries. The clinic lasts for about an hour, is fun and very informative! Please wear running shoes and apparel as we will have you run (2-3 minutes) as part of the clinic.

GROUP RUNS Most of our stores meet for group runs throughout the week. Call the stores if you have any specific questions about the group runs below: Mondays: Jacksonville Beach Store, (904) 270-2221 6:00 PM. All paces welcome. 3 - 6 miles.

Tuesdays: San Marco Store, (904) 399-8880 6:00 PM. All paces welcome. 3 - 7 miles.

Thursdays: Town Center Store, (904) 620-9991 6:30 PM. All paces welcome. 4 miles.

Town Center Running Club, dynamic stretching, followed by run! Food and drink specials afterwards at Libretto's! Vendor with product available to test out on the run! Don't miss it!
