1. O nline: You can go to the website listed for the event and register online. All online registrations receive a confirmation email.

There is a processing fee added to the base registration price.

2. I n-store Kiosks: You can register at any of our 1st Place Sports stores on our in-store computers. All in-store registrations receive a confirmation email. There is no processing fee when registering on our in-store computers.

3. P aper Entry Form: You can check to see if the event is allowing paper entry form registration. You can go to the event website to download their entry form or register using one of the generic paper entry forms included in this RunJax Guide. Paper entry forms do not receive an email confirmation.

This cross-country course starts and finishes at Ronnie VanZant Memorial Park, 2760 Sandridge Rd. This two-lap rugged cross-country course will not be suitable for strollers.

Spikes may be worn. Walkers are welcome, but there will be no separate walking awards.

The race will be timed using timing chips on your race bib.

AWARDS Awards will be given to Top 3 overall male and female, Top Master's male and female, Top Grandmaster's male and female. Awards will also be given to the top three male and female finishers in each age group as follows: 10 and under, 11-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44,45-49,50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79 and 80 & over. The awards ceremony will be held at Ronnie VanZant Park following the race.

FUN RUN A FREE One-Mile Fun Run starts at 2:00PM. There is no charge for the Fun Run, but you must register to participate.

Complete an entry form on race day or bring in a completed entry form. Please do not mail in Fun Run entry forms.

ALL packet pick-up will be done at Ronnie VanZant Park on race day starting at 12:30PM.

1/2 MARATHON TRAINING SCHEDULE

Here is a training schedule designed to help you complete a half marathon. This schedule assumes that you are currently running three miles, three or four times a week. The days of the week can be rotated to fit your schedule. The most important point to remember is to not miss the weekly long run.

HERE ARE SOME IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER AND USE ON RACE DAY: 1. Don’t start out too fast. The best way to have a successful race is to run an even pace.

Run at the pace that you ran your long runs.

4. Don’t do anything new on race day. Eat and drink what you usually do before your long run.

2. Wear the same shoes that you used to do your long runs. Do not buy a new pair of shoes to use in the race unless you can run at least three of your long runs in them.

5. Get up early on race day and give yourself plenty of time to get to the starting line.

3. Drink water before, during and after the race. Don’t wait until you are thirsty to get water. Start drinking a few hours before the race and drink at every opportunity during the event.

6. Line up at the starting line in the area not to close to the front. This will help keep you at a reasonable pace.

7. Read the race instructions in your race packet prior to reporting to the starting line.

The information they contain can be very helpful to your having a good safe race.

The 5K will start at 8:30 AM on Wells Road. The course takes you out and back along the beautiful St. John's River. There is a water stop near the half way turn around. See map for more details. Strollers are not allowed in the 5K. This is the first race in the 2018 Grand Prix Series, and certified by the USTAF. The results will be posted near the finish. You can also check your results at 1stplacesports.com after the race.

AWARDS Medals to all 5K finishers. The overall and age group winner awards ceremony will be at 9:30 AM near the finish line. Top 3 overall, top master, top grand master, and top 3 in each age group. Age groups include 10 and under, 11-13, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 & over.

Awards given to males and females in each category.

PARKING

FUN RUN

Parking is available at bestbet. Please park in the extreme west or east sides of the lot, as the center spots are reserved for the Poker Room clientele. Race registration and packet pick up are located in the open field area on the east side of the Kennel Club.

The FREE One-Mile Fun Run starts at 10:00AM in the field behind bestbet. Entry forms available race morning (do not mail in). Ribbons to all and $1,800 in participation money for elementary schools as a courtesy of bestbet.

The fun run is free, but all participants must register on race day. Suzanne Baker is the fun run coordinator & can be reached at srbaker@oneclay.net.

RACE CHECK-IN AND TIMING CHIPS Race day registration and packet pick up tables are open at 7:30 AM. The chip is in the bib. Bibs w/o Chips are used for the One Mile Fun Run. You must cross the mats at the start and the finish to be included in the results.
