7 Different Phrases that Changed My Life

7 Different Phrases that Changed My Life

by Carlin Armstead

Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do something.

Carolyn Armstead (My mother)

When I was born, I had an impaired left hand and arm. I believe, knowing I would have to live with it, my mother instilled in me early that there would challenges, and that people would treat me differently. So, this quote is my foundation for dealing with challenges due to my physical appearance. It is also what keeps me grounded and motivates me to move forward.

A mother's love is stronger than distance, more powerful than time and can transcend the grave.

Tyler Perry

My mother transitioned from this life to her Heavenly home almost 13 years ago. She is still with me in my heart. Her love is forever present with me. Love doesn’t end at death. As this quote says, it transcends and grows stronger, despite the gulf of separation that bridges mortality and immortality, and Earth and Heaven.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Jeremiah 29:11 (New King James Version)

During times when I was not sure of what, how, or when to do something, this Biblical quote encourages me to know that there is a plan and purpose for my life. It also states I have a mission and that I will live until it is completed.

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.Philippians 4:13 (New King James Version)

This is another Scripture that inspires me to not only try, but to accomplish that which God ordained for me to achieve spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

“For nothing will be impossible with God.”

Luke 1:37 (New King James Version)

The Lord gives me His strength in situations that may seem impossible. Since God is Omnipotent (all powerful), nothing can stop Him. So, as I live through and strive to be like Him, He transforms my strength into His strength by the Holy Spirit because I became a new creature in Him when I accepted His Son Jesus Christ into my life.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Proverbs 3:5-6 (New King James Version)

This quote helps me to feel secure in the fact that the Lord will lead and guide me through anything, if I acknowledge and trust Him in everything, and not depend on my own thoughts and feelings.

“Do what you have to do to do what you want to do.”

Theodore Roosevelt, Les Brown, Denzel Washington, Oprah Winfrey

I use this quote as inspiration to learn, foster, cultivate, and enhance my entrepreneurship skills. I believe that we all need to be good stewards of what we earn. We must work hard, be consistent, and be responsible to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
