Horizons in Poetry is part of the Ron Allen Project, a 2021 Knight Arts Challenge Detroit winner. The project is made possible with funding from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Our Project is also supported by the Hannan Center and Kayrod Gallery in Detroit. Ron Allen founded Horizons in Poetry (HIP) in 1982 with Wardell Montgomery Jr. and John Mason. First housed in Cobb's Corner, a jazz bar in Detroit's Cass Corridor, every event had a featured reader followed by an open mic. The Ron Allen Project is proud to continue the series in a virtual format and we will be using this channel to post recordings of the events.
