As we approach spring, the Flowers Plantation Foundation crew and contractors are hard at work preparing the community for the season ahead. From mulch rotations to plant care, here’s a look at what’s happening as we transition into spring.
Mulch Rotations and Berm Maintenance
Our annual mulch rotation is nearly complete, with fresh mulch being applied to each of our community entrances for a polished look. Berms that are on the 2025 rotation are also being completed to ensure the community’s beauty continues to thrive year after year.
Backflow Reinstallation and Certification
With warmer weather, backflow systems will be reinstalled and recertified to ensure they’re ready for the spring season, helping maintain the integrity of our irrigation systems.
Crepe Myrtle Pruning and Plant Care
Crepe Myrtles along the parkways have been pruned to prepare for blooming. We’ve also trimmed ornamental grasses, variegated liriope, and other plants throughout the berms to keep the landscape looking its best.
As the weather warms, lawn crews will be out in full force maintaining the berms and surrounding areas. Their efforts will ensure our community’s landscape stays vibrant and healthy throughout the season.
Welcoming the Community
Spring also brings more residents out for walks, and we encourage you to interact with our team. If you have any feedback or just want to say hello, please don’t hesitate to step over and talk, we are always available to listen and explain items.
For any questions regarding exterior maintenance or landscaping, contact Steven Driver, Superintendent of Flowers Plantation Foundation, at steven@flowersplantation.com.
A Beautiful Spring Ahead
With all the hard work underway, Flowers Plantation is ready to showcase its spring beauty. The vibrant greenery and colorful blooms will soon be in full swing, offering a stunning environment for everyone to enjoy.

Thales Academy at Flowers Plantation campus has grown in many ways since opening in 2022. We now have a bustling student body of over 600 Pre-K through 9th grade students this year and expect to grow more each year as we continue to add high school grades annually through 12th grade.
We are proud to have achieved a national Top 20 Ranking in the Classic Learning Test’s CLT8 exam—an 8th grade standardized test that assesses language arts and mathematics. Our students continue to achieve mastery in many subjects and skills across all grades.
Kindergartners are reading fluently out loud, our third graders can write letters in cursive, our seventh graders debate articulately and respectfully in their Socratic seminars, and our ninth graders know basic auto repair skills alongside their ability to read and analyze The Odyssey. We also regularly recognize students who show strong character, which is a cornerstone at Thales Academy.
This year, we added a junior high/high school athletics program (Go Vikings!), started a National Junior Honor Society chapter, and collaborated with our broader community in various efforts, such as The American Legion for our Pre-K–5 Veterans Day performance and the Johnston County Department of Social Services’ Angel Tree project. We are so grateful for our Flowers Plantation and Johnston County communities.
Our school works to instill wisdom and virtue through beauty, truth, and goodness in the classical tradition. We look forward to continuing to provide a high-quality education with low tuition to the Flowers Plantation area.
By Caitlin Moody, Pre-K–5 Head of School, and Brittney Massey, JH/HS Head of School
