Lumina Massage

A Vision for Healing, Connection & Community

When Kimberly Graham, NC LMBT #19000, returned to Johnston County after years away, she carried with her a vision shaped by personal healing, deep study, and a desire to rebuild something the world had lost: meaningful human connection. A Johnston County native who grew up in the McGee’s Crossroads community, Kimberly felt called home to attend Johnston Community College’s Therapeutic Massage Program, graduating in 2020 at the peak of the pandemic when people were afraid to hug, shake hands, or receive touch.

“To enter the field during that moment in history was profound,” she reflects. “People were craving connection in a digital world. They needed to feel safe again, to feel seen again, to feel like they mattered.”

It was in this climate that Kimberly began creating what would become Lumina Massage, now open in the Flowers Plantation community.

The name Lumina symbolizes: • Light – bringing clarity to what the body needs • Reflection – seeing clients as whole and worthy • Transformation – honoring the body’s continual unfolding • Connection to nature – remembering our place in seasonal rhythms Growing up in a farming family, Kimberly learned the importance of lunar cycles, seasons, and quiet observation— wisdom she now brings into her work.

“I see the body the same way,” she says. “It knows how to heal.

My role is to illuminate what’s needed and create space for transformation.”

A Personalized, Therapeutic Experience Rooted in Excellence At Lumina Massage, every appointment begins with the person not a preset routine. Clients receive their full 30, 60, or 90 minutes on the table, with each session shaped by their current needs, stress levels, medical considerations, and goals for wellness.

Kimberly’s training includes Swedish and deep tissue massage, lymphatic drainage, prenatal and postpartum support, oncology massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, salt stone therapy, sports massage, stretching, and cupping allowing her to support clients across all ages and life stages.

This blend of therapeutic depth and nurtured presence creates an experience that is both grounding and transformative.

Connection at the Heart of Every Session Kimberly’s approach is defined as much by empathy and presence as it is by advanced training. Clients often say they leave feeling truly seen, heard, and understood, an experience that has become increasingly rare in today’s fast-paced, digital world.

“My goal is to create a space where people feel safe, supported, and welcomed as they are,” she says. “People walk through our doors carrying stress, grief, hope, and responsibility. I want Lumina to be the place where they can set it down for a while.”

She adds, “Wellness is not a luxury—it’s a connection to ourselves, to each other, and to the natural cycles that shape our lives.”

When Jane found out about winning third place, she says, “I was overwhelmed with joy that I received third place in a national essay contest. I was so proud of myself that I was able to write the longest essay I’ve ever written, 1,630 words, and do it so incredibly well.”

THE SELMA CYCLEPATHS Kick Off 2026 on the Right Path

New Year’s Resolutions! How are you doing with yours? If any of them include getting/staying healthier or being more involved in the community, the Selma Cyclepaths is a group YOU should consider joining.

The Selma Cyclepaths is a local cycling club with two primary goals: 1. To bring awareness/financial support to the quest for a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

2. To Promote a healthy lifestyle through cycling and friendship.

Benefits of cycling: Cycling offers numerous physical and mental benefits. It is an excellent choice for fitness and well-being.

It supports weight management, cardiovascular health, joint health, muscle strength, improved flexibility and balance.

Mental health benefits include stress relief and enhanced cognitive function. When you ride with a group you have the added benefits of social interaction, motivation and encouragement.

We finished the 2025 Fundraising year raising over $85,000 for the National MS Society through volunteer work and monetary donations. 10 of us volunteered at Raleigh’s annual Turkey Trot in November to earn $$ toward our 2026 fundraising. Registration for the Historic New Bern Ride (the MS Society’s annual ride we participate in and use to drive our fundraising) is open February 4th. The ride will take place September 19th & 20th.

We cycle year around (weather permitting) on Saturdays and Tuesdays. We roll out from Thanksgiving Elementary School on Saturday mornings and ride roads less travelled by motor vehicles throughout Johnston and the surrounding counties.

On Tuesday mornings we ride the Neuse River Trail leaving from Anderson Point Park. We’d love to have you join us.
