10 Things to do THIS This Easter Basingstoke town centre provides all you need to tickle your taste buds, enjoy a night out with friends or the perfect family day or evening out. For a few tips here are our top ten reasons to make Basingstoke your destination of choice this Easter! 1 We’re sure you’ve all noticed the current craze that is all things unicorn – from stationery to clothes, it has become very popular among the young (well across the ages it seems!). To celebrate this, Vintage Treasures are holding a Unicorn Makeover Workshop on 13th April at 10.30am. From unicorn hair horns and sparkly lips to unicorn cake and milkshakes, you are sure to have a magical time! All children over 8 are invited to join them and be transformed! 2 Take your loving little ones to the Haymarket to see the wonderful ‘Don’t Dribble on the Dragon’ on 11th April at 2.30pm. Based on the fabulous new book by Steven Lee and with magic designed by the late Paul Daniels, this spectacular musical adventure is sure to remind us all of the importance of family and is the perfect show for the whole family to enjoy!

of his scariest creatures! Join them on 20th April at the Anvil as she tells of her most exciting wildlife experiences from the far corners of the world, whilst introducing the audience to some of the fiercest and most frightening animals she met along the way! Are you and your family brave enough? 7 Well, it just isn’t Easter without a Panto – Robin Hood is showing at the Anvil on 23rd April at both 2pm and 6pm. Join heroes Robin Hood and Maid Marian in this swash-buckling, arrow-slinging, tights-wearing comedy adventure! With an all-star cast including Dani Harmer (Tracy Beaker, Strictly Come Dancing) as our favourite Maid, George Sampson (Britain’s got Talent) as Robin Hood and Andy Abraham (X Factor runner-up) as Sheriff of Nottingham, Enchanted Entertainment return with another fantastic Easter pantomime for the whole family to enjoy!

3 Also showing at the Haymarket is the Moon’s magical story about the tippetty-top Tap Dancing Mermaid. Mystery, stunning puppets, original live music and tap dancing – what’s not to love?! Tickets available for 18th April for all children aged 3+.

8 We all know that Easter is the perfect time for a little indulgence! Take the family out for a lovely treat at Sundaes Gelato where they have an abundance of delicious treats to choose from!

4 Let your children bring their favourite fairytale characters to life in an adventure where they are helping the Funky Fairy rescue the Fairytale Story Book from the Red Queen! Full of drama, dancing and singing led by an experienced drama teacher, this workshop is set to be heaps of fun for children aged 4–8. The Discovery Centre, Tues 18th April from 2 to 2.45pm.

9 For those of you who don’t have kids in tow, head down to the Tea Bar in Top of Town where Johnny Marvels and his Blues Groove Band are playing on 13th April. Also, on 15th April Connie Deadman and The Freight Train Runner will be entertaining with an eclectic range of Folk, Blues and Rock covers. Sit back or dance along – you are certain to have a great night! The Tea Bar will be hosting several entertaining nights over the Easter Period, so feel free to pop in and enquire!

5 This Easter, bring your old clothing back to life with trims, scraps and embellishments – all provided with expert guidance of course! Be Your Own Fashion Designer, a workshop for children aged 4–16, will be at the Discovery Centre on 20th April from 10am–1pm. A chance to upcycle those dull items of clothing and allow your creativity to flow! 6 For those braver, older kids aged 5+, Naomi Wilkinson will be hosting a show full of fun and surprises as she is joined by Animal Mark – and some

10 Multi-award winning comedian Russell Kane will be entertaining with another blisteringly funny stand-up performance about growing up and growing down. Whether you’re 16 but feel 21 or 40 and tragically faking 25 – do not worry, no one is ever the ‘right’ age – this is the curse of being a real person! Don’t miss this chance to experience this comedy genius in person on 21st April at the Anvil, with tickets costing only £19.
