FINANCIAL UPDATE

Jospeh Furlong, Treasurer

Sheila Kobrick, MBA, CHAE, Director of Finance, Human Resources, & Information Technology

Operations

Fiscal year 2024 was a positive year, ending with a surplus The Club's ongoing focus on membership recruitment ensured this favorable outcome The membership's continued support of the food and beverage operations was greatly appreciated, especially in terms of revenue from outside parties and Golf Clubhouse member dining.

Many of the Human Resources initiatives implemented have significantly improved the Club’s ability to recruit and retain top talent With the expansion of the Club’s safety training program, all employees are now able to participate, whether the training is completed in person or through the Club’s new Learning Management System.

Like many businesses the Club and its management team had to navigate the challenges

Capital

Throughout the year, many of the capital improvements completed were behind-the-scenes but nonetheless allowed operations to be improved or enhanced.

Upgrade and Maintain the Information Technology

Infrastructure: While not highly visible to members, these upgrades are vital to the Club’s operations, ensuring employees can work efficiently and members have a positive experience while on property

Improve Food & Beverage Efficiency: From the smallest banquet supplies to large walk-in coolers, the management team consistently seeks ways to enhance efficiency and provide a high-quality member experience which starts behind the scenes

Enhanced Parking Lot Appearance: The Main Campus parking lots now boast a fresh look and improved safety thanks to these enhancements.

Replace Company Trucks: Though vehicles may not directly impact the member experience, these vehicles are essential for transporting people, supplies, and equipment across the Club’s expansive property

Weather-Related Challenges: Mother Nature presented challenges with several rain events that caused significant damage to golf course foot bridges and culverts which required replacement

As the Club looks towards the future, the Finance Committee and Long-Range Planning Committee will collaborate to ensure that both obligatory and aspirational capital improvements are met.

Finally, I would like to take a moment and thank fellow Finance Committee members Jay Mottola, Richard Jahnke, Jeremy Kidde, David Christensen and William Houlihan for their time and expertise Their insights will continue to be a valued resource as we progress through Fiscal Year 2025

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE

Membership

In Fiscal Year 2022 the Club’s Membership Committee created a dynamic model that significantly improved our understanding of the Club’s membership make-up and dues revenue drivers. Each year we use this model to gauge the strength of the membership. We are delighted to share that by all accounts Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24) was an incredibly successful year for membership at our Club

Fiscal Year 2024 Highlights:

The addition of 28 Regular Members from our Oak Leaf/Acorn Program (vs. 13 in FY23)

The addition of 53 Oak Leaf/Acorn Privilege Holders (vs. 37 in FY23)

Membership Dues revenues exceeded budget by more than $300K ($6 7M vs $6 4M)

Oak Leaf/Acorn renewal rate of 83% vs goal of 75%

Oak Leaf/Acorn conversion rate of 90% vs goal of 75%

Our Membership count continues to remain over 600 at 615 (vs 601 in FY23)

Annual Report | Page 19

Oak Leaf/Acorn Program

Our Oak/Leaf Acorn program now boasts 109 Privilege Holders. As we enter Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25), we are pleased to report our Oak Leaf/Acorn program remains the Club’s largest driver of Regular Members In the upcoming fiscal year, we have 26 Oak Leafs/Acorns slated to convert to Regular Member, and four are slated to convert to House Member

Oak Leafs/Acorns Needed

We have much to celebrate, and our entire membership and Membership Committee have done an incredible amount of work in the last two fiscal years to welcome over 90 new Oak Leaf/Acorn families.

All of this said, we would be remiss if we did not inform the membership that the Oak Leaf/Acorn pipeline is significantly lighter than in recent years On-going member introductions are crucial to ensuring our Oak Leaf/Acorn program continues to drive membership In FY25, it is essential that we come together as a membership to introduce our family and close friends and colleagues to maintain the Club’s membership momentum

Marketing

In August of 2023 we unveiled a new Club website and mobile application, both of which more accurately reflect the beauty of our Club. In FY25 we will be focused on introducing enhanced functionality and booking capabilities on both the website and the mobile app

Since the introduction of the new website, we have begun the practice of sending targeted surveys to our membership to receive feedback on special events, tournaments, dining, etc. with the goal of improving our offerings across all campuses and activities. We ask that all members who receive a survey please complete it, so that we can continually enhance and refine what we offer

As was the case in Fiscal Year 2023, in Fiscal Year 2024 we continued to focus on our Club communications. This year we published seven editions of 1886 Magazine, a Special Events booklet, and new Golf, Racquets, Boathouse and Pool information guides

Special Thanks

A special thanks to all who work to grow our membership and improve our Club, especially the Club’s dedicated Membership Committee and Board of Governors who had an extremely busy year, completing over 85 Membership Interviews and Meetings with Privilege Holders and new Members in Fiscal Year 24

GOLF UPDATE

Another golf season is underway although rain has somewhat put a damper on Spring rounds. We look forward to better weather ahead as we approach our active season – and this season expects to be another busy one Last season, play was up more than 16% (or 2,500 rounds!) compared to previous year – and 18,213 total rounds eclipsed our 10-year high of 17,617 back in 2016

Since the Golf Course Enhancement project in 2022, we continue to find ways to make improvements to the golf course. Over the winter, architectural changes on #11 & #16 greens have created more pinnable areas on portions of these greens, while fairway expansion on hole #8 created more area within the landing zone from the tee

While member tournament play remained robust last season, we were especially proud to show off our renovated golf course to the members of the Robert Trent Jones Society last fall while hosting their Annual Meeting for the first time Our golf course was originally designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr in the 1950s then enhanced by his son ’ s golf course architectural firm Rees Jones, Inc just two seasons ago. The mission of the Society is to honor Robert Trent Jones Sr. and his work, to preserve the historical information and documents pertinent to the golf courses he designed, and to encourage and support the education of member clubs on the design principles of his courses

Perhaps the most exciting tournament of last season didn’t even take place at our golf course Tyler Cline & Cole Meitner qualified for the 9th U S Amateur Four-Ball Championship after sharing medalist honors with a score of 64 (-7) during their qualifying round at Rumson Country Club last Fall. Results article, scoring, and photo gallery can be found here. Please join us in congratulating Cole and Tyler for qualifying for this prestigious tournament held at Philadelphia Cricket Club on May 25th – 29th Although they didn’t make the cut, they were a wonderful representation of The Tuxedo Club against some of the best amateur golfers in the United States Congratulations Tyler and Cole!

Lastly, golf outings are a wonderful source of revenue for our Club as well as a great way to attract new members. Most of our golf outings come to us from a relationship a member has with a Charitable Foundation, Company or Trade Association. Our golf outing calendar is filling up quickly for this season, so reach out now if interested in hosting a group of friends, a company or charity outing

A special thanks to the Members of the Golf & Green Committee for their guidance and support throughout each season As we begin our active season, let’s all do our do our part to respect the course, respect your fellow players and staff, and respect the game we all enjoy We look forward to a great season

GREENS UPDATE

In the realm of Property Maintenance and Agronomy, 2023 proved to have its own set of challenges as in previous seasons. From a project standpoint, trees were purchased and strategically planted to the right of hole 11 to protect 14 tee and deter players from playing tee shots “ over the dogleg” right of the hole All the trees except one made it through the 2023 season After investigating the tree with a certified arborist, it seems this tree struggled during the late winter temperature fluctuations in temperatures and could not recover The Golf and Green Committee has discussed a replacement plan for this tree to be installed this fall if deemed necessary to replace Other projects were kept to a minimum to reduce project fatigue on the property, considering the major bunker renovation that was recently completed on the golf course.

A cold, dry (April and May) Spring in 2023 delayed recovery of Drill and Fill Aeration significantly Plans were discussed to have soil tests completed to make adjustments to our aeration program for the 2024 season 10 years of Drill and Fill practices have proven to pay major dividends for our putting greens and abandoning this process is not an option at this time The possibility of “scaled back” greens aeration was investigated All other normal cultural practices, chemical applications and maintenance was able to be completed on time and on schedule.

As the season progressed into mid-June 2023, hot weather and significant precipitation became the norm for the following 4 months to the end of September The golf course suffered major flooding on numerous occasions and our property received 8 inches of rain in June, 7 inches in July, 6 inches in August and 9 inches of rain in September, respectively Many of these storms occurred on the weekends, which undoubtedly affected rounds and revenue for the club During this season, drainage issues throughout the property became prevalent and proactive measures were taken to make significant repairs to culvert pipes on the entrance road at the course, as well as the large culvert pipe adjacent to 4 green. Repairs were expensive, but necessary and were completed in early 2024.

Overall, budget increases to our labor budget proved to be to be the most beneficial adjustment for the 2023 season Having a properly sized staff during extreme weather conditions enabled us to repair unexpected course damage promptly and our ability to react to any and all situations was evident during many circumstances Additionally, course conditions were improved by having the ability to mow all playing surfaces more routinely as well as complete sod repairs, creek and pond edge cleanup and other labor-intensive jobs and projects. 90% of our staff has returned this year and additional staff were added to the Main Club Landscaping crew. A special thanks goes out to the Board of Governors for approving budget increases and giving our properties the attention they deserve

2024 USCTA Mixed Nationals

The Tuxedo Club once again set the bar for hosting National Championships with the USCTA Mixed Nationals held at the club May 31st – June 2nd

With arguably the strongest and youngest field in memory; it was clear to all the spectators that the future of the amateur game is in good hands!

The top three teams of Annie Clark & Noah Motz (Westwood Country Club), Emily Young & Ned Batstone (International Tennis Hall of Fame), Kadi Meldrum & Rakesh Jasani (Aiken Tennis Club) all having a team HCP of under 23 the spectators were in for a feast of good tennis!

They were not disappointed as the Young/Batstone pairing eked by Meldrum/Jasani in the semi-finals 6/4 6/5 to earn their spot in the Final versus the top see of Clark & Motz.

Clark and Motz were leading one set to love in the final and 5/2 40-love in the second set when the momentum took a seismic shift and the Young/Batston pairing took the next 4 games (being down yet again 40-love and 5/4) and the second set Clark and Motz righted the ship quickly and spent the entire third set on the service end while winning

Other Tuxedo teams include Serena & Kurt Mueller, Hazel & Dave Christensen, Kim Kilgore & Dawson Chisholm, Amy Gold & Chris Heffernan, Calliope & Theo Yannuzzi, along with Francine Maitland pairing with Kip Gould from New York.

The Back Draw Final was an ALL-TUXEDO affair as Calliope & Theo Yannuzzi defeated Amy Gold & Chris Heffernan

A job well done by the tournament committee, as all participants rave about all things Tuxedo when playing at the Club

A big THANK YOU as well to the Club’s food & beverage department in providing a wonderful spread of food throughout the weekend.

BOATHOUSE UPDATE

Phil Tavani, Boathouse Chair

Daniel Britts, CCM, Assistant General Manager

The 2024 season at the Boathouse brings stability and sustained expansion. The Boathouse team, led by our Boatmaster Ted, continues the push to revitalize the lakefront activities of rowing, fishing, and sailing alike. Scheduling a lake cruise on a Club pontoon or the single hull offers our membership a unique and lovely experience

Jack MacLeod, our dedicated dockhand, has revitalized the Club’s fishing program by organizing four derbies throughout the season The inaugural event - our April Trout Fishing Derby - was a tremendous success After an intense competition for the top spot, member Chris Dollbaum emerged victorious with a stunning 24-inch brown trout The upcoming derbies are scheduled as follows: a Bass Derby in May and June, an All-Fish Derby in the summer, and another All-Fish derby in September.

The 3rd annual 1886 Regatta is scheduled for Sunday, October 13th, and we are optimistic that the roster will again feature many top athletes from around the country

Please help the Boathouse team by completing the survey sent at the start of the boating

POOL UPDATE

The Poolside atmosphere continues to thrive as an attractive venue for members, showing the membership’s commitment to a family-oriented, casual locale

With the return of our seasonal culinary stalwarts and Chef Arnold’s innovative flair, the Poolside is set for another leap in menu development Julia, now promoted to Head Lifeguard in her second season, brings a meticulous attention to detail that ensures top-notch hospitality.

The season-opening Pool Book contained a survey to help us continue to gauge the membership’s interests and to focus our resources to expand properly This includes bocce leagues, water aerobics, water polo, swim groups, and more

If you have not had a chance to take the survey, please do so here to help us push the Club towards what you, the membership, want to experience

Special thanks go to our Pool Director, Justine DeVito, for her relentless pursuit of excellence and program development at the poolside

Events at the Poolside Bar & Grille, such as Father's Day in Margaritaville and more, will be advertised in the Club’s weekly eblast.
