GOLF COURSE UPDATE

By Chris Muldoon, Director of Golf

We are approaching the middle of the summer and generally our busiest time of year on the golf course As we look back on the first couple months of the season, we’d like to recognize some of our recent tournament winners.

Despite the threat of inclement weather, the Men’s Invitational was a huge success as a full field of 120 players enjoyed three days of golf, camaraderie, and competition. For likely the first time in Club history, Joe Furlong & guest Ed Coughlin repeated as Invitational Champions with help from an impressive pitch shot from Furlong in the Flight Champions Shoot-Out

Some of our other “Silver” trophy winners (since June) have included:

Igor Kosharsky broke through in the DeRham Cup (18-Hole Individual Stroke Play for Members under the age of 50) for his first “Silver” victory - less than a month after converting from Oak Leaf to Regular Membership

Andy Kosovych added another “Silver” trophy to his collection with a five-stroke victory in the Hay Cup (18-Hole Individual Stroke Play for Members 50 years of age and older)

In our first Mixed event of the season, A. Jay & Kellie Baldwin captured their third McVickar Cup (2015, 2017, & 2023).

Cheryl Rubin & Karen Banyo overcame a large deficit and finished strong to win the Ladies’ 18-Hole Governor’s Cup This marks the third time Mrs. Banyo has won the Governor’s Cup, but the first time for Dr Rubin

Most recently, Jatindar Kapur & Cole Meitner endured the rainshortened Mason & Tomes Cups and finished on top. Inclement weather on Sunday forced the event to be shortened to 27 holes (from 36) Kapur held off good friend Gagan Singh to win the Mason Cup (Net) for his first individual “Silver” victory, while Cole captured his fifth straight Tomes Cup (Gross) despite trailing Joseph Furlong IV and father Charlie Meitner after Round One

There is still so much to look forward to over the next few months. We look forward to sharing those results.

From all of us at Tuxedo, thank you for your continued support of the golf program I encourage you to contact me or any member of the professional staff if we can be of any assistance throughout the remainder of the season.
