Bishop Beaman's Word 2023 Annual Conference

"However, I also remember what can give me hope. It is thanks to the Lord's great love that we are not consumed, for his mercies are inexhaustible. They are renewed every morning; great is your faithfulness! I say to myself, 'My portion is the Lord; therefore I will put my hope in him'" (Lamentations 3:21-24).

Upon being appointed to the Fifteenth Episcopal District in July 2021, the Mother Overseer and I immediately sought the face of GOD, that our steps would be ordered and prove to be His blessing to the wonderful people of the Fifteenth Episcopal District. The global COVID-19 pandemic was raging and millions of people were affected and dying. Fear was the dominant emotion throughout the world. The Fifteenth Episcopal District was spared. Thousands of our people were dying and infected. The Church as we knew it was unrecognizable. However, we forged ahead.

The word that GOD spoke into my heart and spirit still rings true; GOD encouraged and admonished me that, regardless of COVID and its decimating effects, we should remain FAITHFUL, FEARLESS and FOCUSED ON THE FUTURE. Since July 2021, we have been living our spiritual mantra and have been faithful and fearless. As we approach our last year of this quadrennium, let's embrace the third pillar of this spiritual mantra: being focused on the future. Beloved, GOD is always directing us towards the new!

The continuity is that we start with faith. Faith drives us to overcome fear. When we have successfully applied our faith and gained victory and supremacy over fear, our future unfolds like the dawn of a new morning. When we have embraced the "new", the continuum begins anew. In the "new", GOD calls us to be faithful. In being faithful, we must always maintain a winning spirit and defeat fear wherever the devil employs it. This faithfulness and fearlessness will always propel us into the next new thing! 15th District, let us always remain future-oriented. Our best is yet to come. This is a powerful statement. It expresses that GOD is good, we are experiencing the fullness of His goodness now, but there is another level of goodness that we are always moving towards.

15th District, let's keep our eyes on where the Lord is leading us, in our ministry and witness to win souls, work in Missions, in economic development, in the spiritual formation of our children, in social activism for justice, being a beacon for the oppressed, racial and ethnic inclusion and advocates for greater government for His Glory!

Our theme for the next Conference Year 2023-2024 is "Ministry that Propels Us into the Future".

The Mother Overseer and I want to express our appreciation to everyone who has helped in this ministry of the future. Congratulations to each Senior President, Pastor, Partners, YPDers, Lay Organization, Women in Clergy, Board of Christian Education, RAYAC, Evangelical League, Sons of Allen, Sunday School, Choirs, Liturgical Dances and Stewards. We mourn the loss of all those who responded to the call to the Church triumphant in this Conference Year. We especially mention the life of Senior President Manuel Esteves Sarmento, whose contributions to the Angola Conference are

Página 3 de 44

indelible. We commit ourselves to continue his dream of African Methodism in Angola until we reach its fullness.

We hope that the YPD and SMM Convention will be exceptional. To SMM Episcopal President Sr. Jantjies and YPD Director Sr. Jacobs, we are convinced that you have prepared our delegation for your respective quadrenniums. The Mother Overseer and I look forward to welcoming you to Orlando, Florida, U.S.A. To President Lomax Sisilana, we are further assured that our Lay delegation is also prepared to make a lasting impression on our Zion at your Connectional Lay Organization Biennial in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. We look forward to welcoming you.

This is the election year for delegates to the 52nd Quadrennial of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. We are looking for the best and brightest of our leadership to travel to Columbus, Ohio, USA, for this convention. We will travel as a "Fifteenth Collective".

We will seek to speak with one voice, defending the greater good of African Methodism and the 15th Episcopal District. I trust that the clergy and laity will seek individuals who will raise the banner of CHRIST and our Episcopal District with integrity, fidelity and the true spirit that makes us the Faithful, Fearless, Future-Focused Fifteenth Episcopal District.

Finally, Reverend Vuyo Gwarube, your contributions to the Mother Overseer and to Me are indispensable. Thank you for your faithfulness and genuine care for Us.

Grace and peace.

"The F-Force to Grade 15" The Reference Guide

At this stage of discussing the Reference Guide, let's consider our Core Values:

 We are Allen's Church (African Methodist Episcopal Church), based on the Christian principles found in the tapered books of the Bible and outlined in our Book of Discipline.

 We affirm the humanity of all people.

 We take seriously the ministry that brings glory to GOD and advances the Kingdom of GOD.

 Impactful worship is the key to our spiritual strength.

 The principles of biblical administration are the fundamental process of financing the work of the Kingdom.

 That every believer is called to the work and every worker is trained and every trained worker is committed to the call of Christ in the life of the church.

 That we are called to love God and to love one another.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (Apostolic Creed) Rev. Elisa Adão Dimbo

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord: who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified dead and buried. On the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from where he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, in Christ's holy Church, in the communion of saints, in the remission of sins, in the resurrection of the body and in eternal life. Amen!

O Lord, our Heavenly Father, we, your humble servants, desire your paternal goodness to mercifully accept this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; humbly beseeching you to grant that through the merits and death of your Son, Jesus Christ, and through faith in his blood, we and your whole church may obtain the remission of our sins and all the other benefits of his passion. And here we offer and present to you, O Lord, our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy and living sacrifice to you; humbly beseeching you that all of us who are partakers of your holy communion may be filled with your grace and heavenly blessing. And though we are unworthy, by our manifold sins, to offer you any sacrifice, yet we beseech you to accept this our sacred duty and service; not weighing our merits, but forgiving our trespasses, through Christ our Lord; by whom and with whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory be to you, O Father, Almighty, world without end. Ordination to the Diaconate

Bishop: Do you believe that you are inwardly moved by the Holy Spirit to assume the office of minister in Christ's Church, to serve God for the promotion of His glory and the edification of His people?

Candidate:Yes, I believe it.

Bishop: Do you believe without pretense in all the canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments?

Candidate:Yes, I believe in them.

Bishop: Will you be able to read and expound the Holy Scriptures diligently to the people you will be assigned to serve?

Candidate:Yes, I will.

Bishop: You will belong to the office of a deacon to help the priest in divine service. And especially when administering Holy Communion, to assist him in the distribution and to read and expound the Holy Scriptures; to instruct the young and, in the absence of the priest, to baptize and, in addition, to visit the sick, poor and needy, so that they may be helped by you. Will you do this willingly and voluntarily?

Candidate:I'll do it with God's help.

Bishop: Will you mold your own life and the life of your family according to the doctrine of Christ, and make yourself and them, as well as yourself, wholesome examples of the flock of Christ?

Candidate:I'm going to make an effort to do it, the Lord being my helper.

Bishop: Will you reverently obey those to whom the charge and leadership over you is entrusted, following with a cheerful mind and godly admonition?

Candidate:I'm going to make an effort to do it, the Lord being my helper.

Warning to priest candidates

Presbyter:..........................Rev. Domingos Daniel Quissaqui, PS

You have heard, both in his private examination and in the exhortation which has just been given to you, and in the Acts of the Apostles, of what dignity and how great is this office, to which you are now called. And now, again, we exhort you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to remember how high a dignity and how weighty an office you are called to; that is, to be messengers, watchmen, stewards for the Lord, to teach and admonish; to feed and sustain the Lord's household; to seek out Christ's sheep which are scattered abroad, and his children which are in the midst of this evil world, that they may be saved through Christ for ever. Always, therefore, impress on your mind what a great treasure is entrusted to you. For they are Christ's sheep, whom he bought with his death, and for whom he shed his blood. The church and congregation you must serve is His bride and His Body. And if it happens that the Church itself, or any member of it, takes any damage or hindrance because of your negligence, you know the greatness of the fault and also the horrible punishment that will follow. Therefore consider in yourselves the end of the ministry to the children of God, to the bride and body of Christ, and see that you never cease your work, your care and diligence until you have done all that you can do, for all who are committed to your charge for that agreement in the faith, and for that maturity and perfection of age in Christ, that there may be no room among you either for error or in religion, or for wickedness in life.

Presbyter:...........................Rev. Quintino Francisco Gonga, PS

You cannot carry out such an important work on the salvation of God's people with doctrine and exhortation drawn from Holy Scripture, and with a life in accordance with it, without the spiritual foundation that comes through reading and studying Scripture. This is why you must abandon everything that you do, and frame your life and the lives of those who are especially dependent on you, according to the rules of the same Scripture. For this reason, you must abandon everything and put aside, as far as you can, all worldly cares and teachings. We have good hope that you will have weighed and pondered these things with yourselves long before you arrived here, and that you will have clearly determined by God's grace to give yourselves to this office for which it has pleased God to call you, so that, as much as it is in you.

Página 30 de 44

Bishop:And now that this present congregation of Christ gathered here can also understand your mind and will in these things, and that this promise of yours can move you to fulfill your sacred duties, you must respond clearly to these things that we, in the name of God and His Church, will demand of you, touching the same.

Bishop: Are you sure in your heart that you are truly called, according to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, to the Order of Priest?

Candidate: Yes, I believe it.

Bishop: Are you convinced that the Holy Scriptures sufficiently contain all the doctrines necessary for eternal salvation through faith in Jesus Christ? Are you determined from the said Scriptures to instruct the people in your charge, and not to teach anything, as required by the necessity of salvation, but what you must be persuaded can be led to and proved from the Scriptures?

Candidate: I am convinced and determined by God's grace

Bishop: Will you give your faithful diligence always to minister the doctrines and sacraments and discipline of Christ as the Lord has commanded?

Candidate: I will, with the Lord's help.

Bishop:Will you be ready with all faithful diligence always to banish and put away all erroneous and strange doctrines contrary to the word of God, and to use public and private warnings and exhortations, both to the sick and to all under your charge, as the need requires? and occasion will be given?

Candidate: I will, with the Lord's help.

Bishop: Will you be diligent in prayer and in reading the Holy Scriptures, and in studies that help you to know them, leaving aside the teachings of the world and of the flesh?

Candidate: I'm going to make an effort to do it, with the Lord's help.

Bishop:Will you be diligent to mold and shape yourselves and your families according to the doctrine of Christ, and make yourselves and them, as well as yourselves, healthy examples and patterns for the flock of Christ?

Candidate: I will apply myself to this, with the Lord's help.

Bishop:Will you maintain and establish, as much as is in you, gentleness, peace and love among all Christians, and especially among those who are and will be entrusted to you?

Candidate: I will, with the Lord's help.

Bishop:Will you reverently obey your chief ministers to whom is entrusted the charge and government over you, following with a cheerful mind their godly admonitions, submitting to their godly judgments?

Página 31 de 44

Candidate: I will, with the Lord's help.

Bishop:May the Almighty God, who has given you this will to do all things, also grant you strength and power to do them, in order to accomplish the work he began through Jesus Christ our Lord.

And although we are unworthy, because of our many sins, to offer you any sacrifice, still we beg you to accept this our sacred duty and service; not weighing our merits, but forgiving our trespasses, through Christ our Lord; by whom and with whom, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all honor and glory be to you, O Father, Almighty, world without end. Amen!"

CALL TO WORSHIP

Rev. António Zeferino Afonso

Leader: I rejoiced when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord; our feet shall stand in his gates, O Jerusalem.

Congregation: Because one day at your side is better than thousands. I'd rather be a guard in the house of my God than stay in the tents of sin.

Leader: For in the house of the Lord our God, I will seek his best.

Congregation: Those who are planted in the house of the Lord our God will prosper in the house of our God.

Leader: Blessed are those who abide in the house of the Lord. The Lord loves his dwelling place, the place where his respect abounds.

Congregation: Because the Lord is in his holy temple, let all the world be silent to him.

Leader: May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, O Lord my Power and my Redeemer.

Congregation: Sing a new song to the Lord, for he has done wonderful things. Make a noise of joy, everyone, singing praises.

OPENING HYMN: Rev. André Manuel MESSAGE FROM THE LORD; HALLELUJAH!

HLS-IMEA/CAA HYMN NO. 124, PAG. 177- Kikongo 13

1.This is the Lord's message: Alleluia! Words of the good God of love! Christ saves the sinner: Alleluia! He saves him even with a look.

Oh, look, brothers, look! Oh, look only at Jesus. He saves the sinner: Hallelujah! He saves him even with a look!

2. Your debt paid: Hallelujah! Jesus satisfied it on the cross. He gave his life: Alleluia! To present you to God!

3. This offering is made to you: Alleluia! Eternal life in heaven. Oh, look at Christ: Hallelujah! Turn to your God now.

4 Accept salvation: Alleluia, Follow in the footsteps of the Lord; Publish his forgiveness: Alleluia! Proclaim the great Redeemer! Psalm 150:1-6)

1. Behold the millions who, in darkness and sin, live lost without a Savior! Who, who will proclaim the news that God in Christ saves the sinner?

"The Father has given me all power, on earth as it is in heaven! Go therefore and preach the Gospel, and behold, I am with you always!"

2. Doors open all over the world! Christians, rise up! Always go forward! Believers in Christ, unite your forces, Free the peoples from slavery!

3."Oh, come to me!" the divine voice cries out; "Come!" cry out in the name of Jesus; to save us from the eternal curse, His blood was shed for us on the cross.

4 O God! Hasten the glorious day, When all the redeemed shall be united, And in a mighty, holy, joyful chorus, Eternally give glory to Thee! (Isaiah 52:7)
