Come We That Love The Lord
AME Hymnal No. 541
Come, we that love the Lord and let our joys be known; Join in a song with sweet accord. Join in a song with sweet accord, And thus surround the throne, And thus surround the throne.
Refrain
We’re marching to Zion, Beautiful, beautiful Zion; We’re marching upward to Zion, The beautiful city of God
Let those refuse to sing, who never knew God; But children of the heavenly King, But children of the heavenly King, May speak their joys abroad, May speak their joys abroad.
The hill of Zion yields A thousand sacred sweets Before we reach the heavenly fields, Before we reach the heavenly fields, Or walk the Golden streets, Or walk the golden streets
Then let our songs abound, And every tear be dry We’re marching through Immanuel’s ground, We’re marching through Immanuel’s ground To fairer worlds on high, To fairer worlds on high
THE DOXOLOGY
L.M. The Old 110th AME HYMNAL 600 Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son and Holy Ghost. Amen
Rev. Leslie Leukes
Leader: Let your light so shine before men that they may aee your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
People: Whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them, for this is the law and the prophets.
Leader: Not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord shall enter the Kingdom of heaven, but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
People: As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
Leader: God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love which ye have showed towards His name, in that ye ministered to the saints, and do minister.
People: Charge them that are rich in this world that they be not high-minded nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; that they do good; that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate, laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come that they may lay hold on eternal life.
Leader: But whoso hath this world’s goods and seeth his brother hath need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
People: He that have pity upon the poor, lendeth unto the Lord; and that which he hath given will He pay him again.
THE HYMN OF PRAISE Rev. Sam S. Herero And Are We Yet Alive
AME Hymnal 295
1.And are we yet alive
2. Preserved by power Divine And see each other’s face? To full salvation here, Glory and praise to Jesus Again in Jesus’ praise we join For his redeeming grace! And in his sight appear
3. What troubles have we seen
4. But out of all the Lord What conflicts have we passed, Hath brought us by his love; Fightings without, and fears within And still he doth his help afford, Since we assembled last. And hides our life above.
5. Then let us make our boast
6. Let us take up the Cross Of His redeeming power, Till we the crown obtain; Which saves us to the uttermost, And gladly reckon all things loss, Till we can sin no more. So we may Jesus gain. A-men THE INVOCATION Rev. Johannes J. Schmidt

Rev. Angelica B. Sauerwein
I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified dead and buried. The third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Church universal, the communion of the saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

There Is A Fountain Filled With Blood
AME Hymnal No. 235
2. The dying thief rejoiced to see Drawn from Immanuel’s veins; That fountain in his day; And sinners, plunged beneath that flood, And there may I, though vile as he Lose all their guilty stains. Wash all my sins away.
1.There is a fountain filled with blood
3. Dear dying lamb, Thy precious blood
4. E’er since, by faith, I saw the stream Shall never lose its pow’r, Thy flowing sounds supply, Till all the ransomed Church of God Redeeming love has been my theme, Be saved to sin no more. And shall be till I die.
Bishop Silvester S. Beaman
“You that do truly and earnestly repent of your sins, and are in love and charity with your neighbour, and intend to lead a new life, following the commandments of God, and walking from henceforth in his holy ways, draw near with faith and take the holy sacraments to your comfort, and make your humble confession to Almighty God, meekly kneeling.”
Bishop Silvester S. Beaman
“Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, maker of all things, judge of all men, we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness which we from time to time most grievously have committed by thought, word and deed against your divine Majesty, provoking most justly your wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly repent and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is grievous unto us. Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father for your Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake. Forgive us all that is past, and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please thee in newness of life, to the honour and glory of your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord. A-men.”
Rev.
“Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, who of your great mercy has promised forgiveness of sins to all them that with hearty repentance and true faith turn unto you, have mercy upon us; pardon and deliver us from all our sins; confirm and strengthen us in all goodness; and bring us to everlasting life through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.”
Rev.
“Almighty God, unto whom all hearts are open, all desires known, and from whom no secrets are hid, cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your holy spirit that we may
Annetha Hangue, P.E. Hendrick I. Ludwicht, P.E.perfectly love you, and worthily magnify your holy name through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.” (Music No. 3)
THE PRAYER OF ADORATION Rev. Betty Schroder, P.E.
Minister: It is very meet, right and our bounden duty that we shall at all times and in all places give thanks unto you, O Lord, Holy father, Almighty, Everlasting God.
Everybody: Therefore, with angels and archangels, and with all the company of heaven, we laud and magnify Your Holy Name, ever more praising You and saying: Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of host; heaven and earth are full of your glory. Glory be to You, O Lord, most high. Amen.
THE PRAYER OF HUMILIATION Rev. Penias E. Topnaar, P.E.
“We do not presume to come to this your table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in your manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather crumbs under your table. But you are the same Lord whose property is always to have mercy. Grant us, therefore, Gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of your dear son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood that our sinful souls and bodies may be made clean by His death and washed through His blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him and be in us. Amen.” (Music No.4)
THE PRAYER OF CONSECRATION
Bishop Silvester S. Beaman
“Almighty God, our Heavenly Father, who by your tender mercy did give your only son, Jesus Christ, to suffer death on the cross for our redemption, who made thereby his oblation of himself, once offered, a full perfect and sufficient sacrifice, oblation, and satisfaction for the sins of the whole world; and did institute and in his holy gospel command us to continue a perpetual memory of that his precious death until his coming again; hear us, O merciful Father, we most humbly beseech you, and grant that we receiving these your creatures of bread and wine, according to your son, our Saviour Jesus Christ’s holy institution, in remembrance of his death and passion may be partakers of his most blessed body and blood: Who in the same night that he was betrayed took bread, (here the Minister is to take a piece of bread into his hand) and when he had given thanks, he broke it, (the celebrant breaks the bread), and gave it to his disciples saying, ‘Take, eat, this (and here lay his hands upon all the bread), is my body which is broken for you. This do in remembrance of me.’ Likewise after the supper he took the cup (and here to lay his hands upon all vessels containing the wine ) and when he had given thanks he gave it unto them saying, ‘Drink all of it, for this is my blood of New Testament, which is shed for you and for many for the remission of sins; do this, as often as you shall drink it, in remembrance of me. Amen.”
O Lord, our Heavenly Father, we your humble servants, desire your fatherly goodness mercifully to accept this our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving; most humbly beseeching you to grant that by the merits and death of your Son, Jesus Christ, and through faith in his blood, we and your whole church may obtain remission of our sins and all other benefits of his passion. And here we offer and present unto you, O Lord, ourselves our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy and living sacrifice unto you; humbly beseeching thee that all we who are
partakers of his holy communion may be filled with your grace and heavenly benediction. And although we be unworthy, through our manifold sins, to offer unto you any sacrifice, yet we beseech you to accept this our bounden duty and service; not weighing our merits, but pardoning our offences, through Christ our Lord; by whom and with whom in the unity of the Holy Spirit all honour and glory be unto you, O Father, Almighty, world without end. Amen.”
Minister: Glory be to God on high
People: And on earth peace, goodwill towards people.
Rev. Albert E. Biwa, P.E.
Minister: We praise you we bless you, we worship you we glorify you.
People: We give thanks to Thee for Thy great glory, O Lord God heavenly King, God the Father Almighty
Minister: O Lord, the only begotten Son Jesus Christ; O Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, that takes away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us
People: You that take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer.
Minister: You that sit at the right hand of God the Father receive our prayer
People: You that sit at the right hand of God the Father have mercy upon us.
Minister: For You only are holy; You only are the Lord
People: You only, O Christ, with the Holy Spirit are most high in the glory of God the Father. Amen.

People: Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.
Leader: Blessed are they that dwell in thy house Lord, I have loved thy habitation, the place where thy honour dwelleth.

When the bird waketh, and the shadows flee; Fairer than morning, love li-er than day light
Dawns the sweet consciousness, I am with Thee

Sweet the repose beneath Thy wings o’er shading
But sweeter still, to wake and find Thee there

The Lay Litany:
Leader: The Lay organization needs bold, and forward-thinking disciples who are unafraid to grow, study, lean and stand up for what is right and just in the life of our Zion.
People: O Lord, gather us together as the Lay Organization, intertwine our hearts and unite us in purpose for service and action.
Leader: The Lay organization is dedicated to the education of the church in its entirety. It is our bounden duty to teach and to learn, to care and to share, to be accountable to authority and to take authority within the scope of the law.
People: O Lord help us to understand that the Lay Organization goes beyond simply being a member, it is a commitment to excellence in service.
Leader: The Lay Organzation holds as its guiding principle a love for the history and lessons of the Church founded in a blacksmith shop and grounded in the struggle for equality for all. We know and honor denominational rituals which are steeped in the rich liturgy of our Zion.
People: O Lord, remind us that the Lay organization goes beyond just knowing, it is a commitment to know and tell the AME story.
Leader: The Lay Organisation is alive, aware and astute about the issues facing our church and our society at large. We rally against injustice, we stand up in times of need and we fight back with our vote and our voice to defend, support or advocate for those who are less fortunate or unable to do so.
People: The Lay organization stands as a sanctuary for all who will come beneath its wings to learn and be taught, to teach and be trained, to nurture and lead others, to be bound by and honor African Methodism and the laws, doctrine, history and legacy thereof. It is a haven for those who are not ashamed in this present generation and for generations to come.
All: O Lord, bless our membership and stewardship in the Lay Organization and move us from membership to discipleship in or quest for excellence in service so that we will be able to know and tell our AME story with our educated voices. We remain ever Laymen Soldiers who are strong in unity and love.
Opening Hymn: Br. Charles L. Pieter
1 Laymen now have thus assembled, In Thy blessed name, O God. Guide us in our true endeavor, Light the pathway that we trod; Give us strength to ever labor for Thy cause, Give us strength to ever labor for Thy cause.
2 We are banded one in union, to fulfill Thy just command. May we be Thy true disciples, holding to Thy mighty hand; Give us blessings from the fountain of Thy love, Give us blessings from the fountain of Thy love.
3 As we walk this Christian journey, let us keep our armor bright. Let our words be pure and holy, that we stand within Thy sight. Laymen Soldiers, strong in unity and love, Laymen Soldiers, strong in unity and love.
4 May we stand before Thine Altar, pledging, Lord, to work for Thee. In the Vineyard, in the pastures, Let us, Lord, Thy Pilgrims be: Let us lift the Cross forever to the skies, Let us lift the Cross forever to the skies.
Amen.

1 I am Thine, O Lord, I have heard Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith, And be closer drawn to Thee.
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To the cross where Thou hast died; Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2 Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord, By the pow’r of grace divine; Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, And my will be lost in Thine.
3 O the pure delight of a single hour That before Thy throne I spend, When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend!
4 There are depths of love that I yet may know Ere Thee face to face I see; There are heights of joy that I yet may reach Ere I rest in peace with Thee. The Spoken Word – Rev. James Fredericks

The Proclamation of the Ordination Sermon Bishop's Designee (25)
Deaconate Ordination
Bishop: Do you trust that you are inwardly moved by the Holy Ghost to take upon you the Office of Ministry in the Church of Christ, to serve God for the promotion of His glory and the edifying of His people?
Candidate: I trust so.
Bishop: Do you unfeignedly believe all the canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testament?
Candidate: I do believe them.
Bishop: Will you diligently read and expound the same unto the people whom you shall be appointed to serve?
Candidate: I will
Bishop: It appertaineth to the office of a Deacon to assist the Elder in Divine Service. And especially when he/she administers the Holy Communion, to help him/her in the distribution thereof and to read and expound the Holy Scriptures; to instruct the youth, and in the absence of the Elder, to baptize and furthermore, it is his/her office to search for the sick, poor and impotent, that they may be visited and relieved. Will you do this gladly and willingly?
Candidate: I will do so by the help of God.
Bishop: Will you frame and fashion your own life and the lives of your families according to the doctrine of Christ, and to make both yourselves and them, as much as in you lieth, wholesome examples of the flock of Christ?
Candidate: I will endeavour to do so, the Lord being my helper
Bishop: Will you reverently obey them to whom the charge and government over you is committed, following with a glad mind and with godly admonition?
Candidate: I will endeavour to do so, the Lord being my helper
Candidate(s) kneeling
Bishop: Take thou authority to execute the office of an Itinerant Deacon in the Church of God, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen
Bishop: Take thou authority to read the Scriptures and to preach the same in the Church of God, in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost. Amen
Elder: Rev. Albert E. Biwa, P.E.
You have heard, as well in your private examination as in the exhortation which was just made to you, and in the writings of the Apostles, of what dignity and of how great importance this office is, whereunto ye are now called. And now again we exhort you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ that ye have in remembrance how high a dignity and to how weighty an office you are called; that is to say to be messengers, watchers, stewards of the Lord, to teach and to admonish; to feed and provide for the Lord’s family; to seek for Christ’s sheep that are dispersed abroad, and for his children who are in the midst of this evil world, that they may be saved through Christ forever. Have always, therefore, printed in your remembrance how great treasure is committed to you charge. For they are the sheep of Christ, which he bought with His death, and for whom He shed His blood. The church and congregation whom you must serve is His Spouse and His Body. And if it should happen the same Church or any member thereof, do take any hurt or hindrance by reason of your negligence, ye know the greatness of the fault and also the horrible punishment that will ensue. Wherefore consider within yourselves the end of the ministry towards the children of God, towards the Spouse and body of Christ, and see that you never cease your labour, your care and diligence until you have done all that you are able to do, for all that are committed to your charge unto that agreement in faith, and to that ripeness and perfectness of age in Christ, that there may be no place left among you either for error or in religion, or for viciousness in life.
Elder: ………………………………………… Rev. Penias E. Topnaar, P.E.
You cannot accomplish the doing of so weighty a work concerning the salvation of God’s people with doctrine and exhortation taken out of the Holy Scripture, and with a life agreeable to the same, without the spiritual foundation which comes through the reading and studying of the Scriptures, and the framing of your life and the lives of those who especially pertain to you, according to the rules of the same Scripture. For this reason you must forsake all and set aside as much as you can all worldly care and studies. We have good hope that you have weighed and pondered these things with yourselves long before this time, and that you have clearly determined by God’s grace to give yourselves to this office whereby it has pleased God to call you, so that as much as lieth in you, you will apply yourselves wholly to this one thing and draw all your cares and studies this way, and that you will continually pray to God the Father by the meditation of our only Saviour Jesus Christ, for the heavenly assistance of the Holy Ghost, that by daily reading and weighing of the Scriptures, you may wax riper and stronger in your ministry, and that you may so endeavour yourselves, from time to time to satisfy the lives of you and yours, and to fashion them after the rule and doctrine of Christ that you may be wholesome and godly examples and patters of the people to follow.
Bishop: And now that this present congregation of Christ here assembled may also understand your mind and will in these things, and that this your promise may be more move you to do your sacred duties, you shall answer plainly to these things which we, in the name of God and His Church, shall demand of you, touching the same.
Bishop: Do you think in your heart that you are truly called, according to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ, to the Order of Elder?
Candidate: I do so believe.
Bishop: Are you persuaded that the Holy Scriptures contain sufficiently all doctrines required of necessity for eternal salvation through faith in Jesus Christ? Are you determined out of the said Scriptures to instruct the people committed to your charge, and teach nothing, as required of necessity of salvation, but that which you shall be persuaded may be conducted and proved by Scripture?
Candidate: I am so persuaded and have so determined by God’s grace.
Bishop: Will you then give your faithful diligence always so to minister the doctrines and sacraments and discipline of Christ as the Lord hath commanded?
Candidate: I will do so, by the help of the Lord.
Bishop: Will you be ready with all faithful diligence always to banish and drive away all erroneous and strange doctrines contrary to God’s word, and to use both public and private monitions and exhortations as well to the sick as to the whole within your charge as need shall require and occasion shall be given?
Candidate: I will do so, the Lord being my helper.
Bishop: Will you be diligent in prayer and reading the Holy Scriptures, and in such studies as help to the knowledge of the same, laying aside the study of the world and the flesh?
Candidate: I will endeavour so to do, the Lord being my helper.
Bishop: Will you be diligent to frame and fashion yourselves and your families according to the doctrine of Christ, and to make both yourselves and them, as much as in you lieth, wholesome examples and patters to the flock of Christ?
Candidate: I shall apply myself thereto, the Lord being my helper.
Bishop: Will you maintain and set forth, as much as lieth in you, sweetness, peace and love among all Christian people, and especially among them that are of and shall be committed to your charge?
Candidate: I will do so, the Lord being my helper.
Bishop: Will you reverently obey your chief ministers unto whom is committed the charge and government over you, following with a glad mind and will their godly admonitions, submitting yourselves to their godly judgments?
Candidate: I will do so, the Lord being my helper.
Bishop: May the Almighty God, who hath given you this will to do all things, grant also unto you strength and power to perform the same, that He may accomplish His work, which He hath begun, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. A-men

We praise and worship
Thee, and we humbly beseech Thee by the same blessed Son to grant unto all, who either here or elsewhere call upon Thy name, that we may continue to show ourselves thankful unto Thee for these and all Thy other benefits, and that we may daily increase and go forward in the knowledge and faith of Thee and Thy Son, by the Holy Spirit. So that as well as by these Thy ministers as by them over whom they shall be appointed Thy ministers that Thy holy name may be forever glorified and Thy blessed kingdom enlarged through the same, Thy Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with Thee in unity of the same Holy Spirit, world without end. Bishop: Dear pastor, the record of your active ministry is written. It is written in the record of God. Your Church is deeply grateful for your ministry and for the care which you have exercised in faithfully fulfilling your vows of ordination. May the precious memories of your rears of sacrificial service and fruitful labour be blessed and hallowed. And now, as you yield your official responsibilities in the active ministry of the African Methodist Episcopal Church, be assured that the years that are yet to be, may be filled with good works and become the crown of all your ministry, bringing glory and honour to you and to the Church. The congregation of which you will be a member will look to you for spiritual guidance and godly example. Your colleagues in the ministry will continue to seek and respect your counsel. They will annually listen for your answer to the “Roll Call” of the Conference.

The Abbreviated Celebration of the Holy Communion
Chief Celebrant, Bishop Silvester S. Beaman
The Communion Hymn: AMEH 321
1.Father, I stretch my hands to Thee
2. What did Thy only Son endure
No other help I know Before I drew my breath!
If Thou withdraw Thyself from me What pain, what labour, to secure
Ah, whither shall I go? My soul from endless death!
3. O Jesus, could I this believe
4. Author of faith! To Thee I lift
I now should fee Thy power; My weary, longing eyes
And all my wants Thou wouldst relieve O let me now receive that gift
In this accepted hour. My soul without it dies. Amen
The Solicitation: Bishop Silvester S.
The General Confession: Bishop Silvester S.
We do earnestly repent and are heartily sorry
for these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is grievous unto us. A-men.”
And here we offer and present unto you, O Lord, ourselves our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable, holy and living sacrifice unto you; humbly beseeching thee that all we who are partakers of his holy communion may be filled with your grace and heavenly benediction. Amen.”

2. I’ll make My great commission known Bid the whole earth My grace receive; And ye shall prove My gospel true; Explain to them My sacred word; By all the works that I have done, Bid them believe, obey and live! And all the wonders ye shall do.
1.Go, preach my gospel, saith the Lord!
3. Go, heal the sick, go raise the dead;
4. While thus ye follow My commands Go cast out devils in My name; I’m with you till the world shall end; Nor let the prophets be afraid, All power is trusted in My hands; Though Greeks reproach and Jews blaspheme I can destroy and can defend.
5. He spake, and light shone around His head, On a bright cloud to heaven He rode; They to the Farthest Nation spread; The grace of their ascended God. Amen

2. God be with you till we meet again! By His counsels guide, uphold you, ‘Neath His wings protecting hide you, With His sheep securely fold you, Daily manna still provide you, God be with you till we meet again! God be with you till we meet again!
1.God be with you till we meet again!
Till we meet! . . . Till we meet!
Till we meet at Jesus’ feet;
Till we meet! . . . Till we meet!
God be with you till we meet again. A-men
3. God be with you till we meet again!
4. God be with you till we meet again! When life’s perils thick confound you, Keep love’s banner floating o’er you, Put Hs arms unfailing round you, Smite death’s threat’ning ways before you, God be with you till we meet again! God be with you till we meet again!
