Thy love divine hath led us in the past, Leads forth in beauty all the starry band In this free land by thee our lot is cast; Of shining worlds in splendor thro’ the skies Be thou our ruler, guardian, guide and stay, Our grateful songs before thy throne arise. Thy word our law, thy paths our chosen way.

3. From war’s alarms, from deadly pestilence, 4. Refresh thy people on their toilsome way, Be thy strong arm our ever sure defense; Lead us from night to never-ending day; Thy true religion in our hearts increase, Fill all our lives with love and grace divine, Thy bounteous goodness nourish us in peace. 2. I have seen him in the watch-fires of the coming of the Lord; of a hundred circling camps; He is trampling out the vintage They have builded him an altar where the grapes of wrath are stored; in the evening dews and damps; He hath loosed the faithful lighting I can read his righteous sentence of his terrible swift sword; by the dim and flaring lamps, His truth is marching on. His day is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies that shall never call retreat; Christ was born across the sea, He is sifting out the hearts of men With the glory in his bosom before his judgement seat; that transfigures you and me; O be swift, my soul, to answer him; As he died to make men holy, be jubilant, my feet! let us die to make men free!
