Rope Access Boilermaker Construction on our world-class Yarwun alumina refinery in Gladstone, in Queensland, Australia, began in 2002 and the first alumina shipped in late 2004. Yarwun now produces more than three million tonnes of alumina per year, which is exported to customers in Asia, the Middle East and the Pacific region with 692 employees and 3.2MT production. Responsibilities: Contributed as a Rope Access Boilermaker at the Rio Tinto Yarwun Alumina Refinery, conducting maintenance of caustic plant, repairing caustic stress corrosion cracking using arc gouging, FCAW and MMAW, blending weld according to repair requirements. Provided quality fixed plant maintenance and installation services in accordance with specifications and requirements. Replaced and reinforced caustic corroded section on the plant and applied pre-heating prior to welding. Conducted visual inspections to ensure all tasks met compliance required to API and Australian Standards. Undertook storage tank and pressure vessel repairs to address all types of cracks and corrosion. Installed and modified agitator blade, shafts and provided shaft support as required. Performed magnetic particle testing, ultrasonic thickness testing and grit blasting. Achievements: Successfully changed the location of a fan connected to the tank to achieve better ventilation inside the confined space. Isis Sugar Central Mill was founded in 1896 as an alternative to other sugar mills in the region operated by CSR Limited.
