I am eager to contribute to the AFP’s mission and further my professional growth within this esteemed organisation. Furthermore, I am an Australian citizen and I am willing and obtain a NV1 or NV2 security clearance. I consistently uphold high ethical standards and demonstrate a strong commitment to the values espoused by the AFP. In my previous roles, I have rigorously adhered to organisational policies and ethical guidelines, ensuring transparency and integrity in all my actions. My dedication to ethical behaviour is reflected in my proactive approach to maintaining confidentiality, making principled decisions, and fostering an environment of trust and respect. This unwavering commitment aligns with the AFP's core values and enhances my suitability for the Criminal Intelligence Analyst role. I possess a proven ability to communicate effectively and with influence, both written and orally. My experience across diverse roles has honed my skills in conveying complex information clearly and persuasively, ensuring that key messages are understood and acted upon. Whether drafting detailed reports, delivering presentations, or engaging in stakeholder discussions, I consistently adapt my communication style to suit the audience, fostering collaboration and driving successful outcomes. At Schindler Lifts Australia, I was tasked with addressing a significant increase in system errors reported by both external customers and internal teams. My objective was to communicate complex technical issues and solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders while ensuring internal teams were aligned on corrective actions. I developed and delivered detailed reports and presentations to management, highlighting the root causes of system errors and proposed solutions. I also facilitated training sessions for staff and customers to enhance their understanding of the digital products and improve system usage. My effective communication led to a 30% reduction in system error reports and improved customer satisfaction scores. Internal teams gained a clearer understanding of the issues, which enhanced their troubleshooting capabilities and operational efficiency. I possess advanced research and analytical skills coupled with an understanding of and ability to apply structured analytic techniques. While working as a Digital Products & Connectivity Support Administrator at Schindler Lifts Australia, I noticed a recurring pattern of faults in specific product lines. My goal was to analyse the data to identify the underlying causes of these faults and recommend solutions to prevent future occurrences. I conducted a thorough analysis of faulty unit reports, applying structured analytic techniques such as pattern recognition and statistical analysis. I cross-referenced the data with system logs and operational procedures to pinpoint common failure points. I then developed a comprehensive report detailing the findings and proposed corrective actions. My analysis led to the implementation of targeted improvements in product design and maintenance procedures, which reduced fault occurrences by 25% and enhanced overall product reliability. My recommendations were adopted company-wide, contributing to improved operational performance and customer satisfaction. I hold a Master of Ancient History and a Bachelor of Arts in Ancient History, both from Macquarie University, Sydney. My academic background, while focused on historical studies, has developed my analytical and research skills, crucial for understanding complex information and contextualising it effectively. These qualifications have honed my ability to critically assess evidence, interpret data, and present findings clearly, which aligns well with the analytical demands of intelligence roles. Additionally, my professional development courses in people management and self-confidence have further enhanced my ability to lead teams and manage complex tasks, ensuring that I am well-prepared to meet the challenges of a Criminal Intelligence Analyst position. In my career, I have accumulated extensive experience in analytical and support roles that align closely with intelligence and national security functions. Over the past five years, I have worked with Schindler Lifts Australia in roles that required advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, including managing digital products and system support, which involved interpreting and acting on complex data. Additionally, my tenure at ZEISS (Australia) and EDS Australia involved managing critical information systems and delivering technical support, which honed my ability to handle sensitive and high-stakes information. While my experience is not directly within a traditional law enforcement or national security context, the skills I developed in these roles such as data analysis, strategic problem-solving, and stakeholder communication are highly transferable and relevant to intelligence environments. I possess a demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others, effectively guiding and supporting team members to enhance their skills and performance. My approach involves identifying individual strengths and areas for improvement, providing constructive feedback, and fostering a collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning and development. At Schindler Lifts Australia, I led a team as a Digital Products & Connectivity Support Administrator. Recognising the diverse skill levels within my team, I implemented a structured coaching program. For instance, when a new team member struggled with advanced troubleshooting techniques, I provided one-on-one mentoring sessions. I tailored the training to address their specific challenges and paired them with a more experienced colleague for additional support.

This approach not only improved their technical proficiency but also boosted their confidence, leading to enhanced overall team performance. My mentorship resulted in the team member's successful integration into the team and contributed to our department’s achievement of global certification standards. I have a proven ability to apply an in-depth understanding of intelligence analysis to produce high-level intelligence products and services. My expertise lies in synthesising complex data, employing analytical techniques, and delivering actionable insights to support strategic decision-making and operational effectiveness. While working as a Digital Products & Connectivity Support Administrator at Schindler Lifts Australia, I was tasked with analysing system performance data to identify recurring faults and operational inefficiencies. By applying advanced data analysis techniques and leveraging my understanding of technical systems, I created detailed intelligence reports highlighting key issues and trends. One notable project involved developing a comprehensive report on equipment malfunctions across various locations. I utilised statistical analysis to pinpoint patterns and predict potential failures. This intelligence product was instrumental in guiding the implementation of preventive maintenance strategies, ultimately enhancing system reliability and customer satisfaction. Some areas require technical proficiency in data/science/analytics working with disparate data sets. In response to the targeted questions, I have provided detailed answers below to illustrate my approach and experience related to the specific requirements of the Criminal Intelligence Analyst role: How do you process contradictory or incomplete information to form a conclusion? When faced with contradictory or incomplete information, my approach involves several key steps: 

Assessment of Information Quality: I start by evaluating the credibility and relevance of the information sources. This includes verifying the authenticity of the data and understanding the context in which it was collected. I seek to identify any biases or limitations in the information that might affect its reliability. Identification of Key Discrepancies: I then identify and document the specific areas where contradictions or gaps exist. This involves breaking down the information into manageable components and comparing it against known facts or established benchmarks to pinpoint inconsistencies. Consultation and Collaboration: Engaging with colleagues or subject matter experts is crucial in these situations. I consult with stakeholders who might have additional insights or context that could help clarify the discrepancies. Collaborative discussions often reveal new perspectives or overlooked details. Use of Structured Analytical Techniques: I apply structured analytical techniques such as hypothesis testing, pattern recognition, or scenario analysis to reconcile the conflicting information. This methodical approach helps in forming a balanced view by systematically evaluating each piece of information against alternative explanations. Synthesis and Documentation: I synthesise the reconciled information into a coherent analysis, clearly documenting the rationale behind my conclusions. I ensure that the analysis reflects the uncertainties and assumptions involved, and I present it in a way that highlights the most probable conclusions while acknowledging any remaining ambiguities. Continuous Monitoring and Review: Finally, I monitor the situation for any new information that might emerge and reassess my conclusions as needed. This iterative process helps in refining the analysis and ensuring that it remains relevant and accurate over time.

By employing this thorough and systematic approach, I ensure that my conclusions are well-founded and that they effectively address the complexities inherent in contradictory or incomplete information. Describe a time when you had to add value to information to support decision making. What did you do? At Schindler Lifts Australia, our team faced a significant challenge with recurrent issues in the ActionBoard Online portal and mobile application. The system errors were affecting customer satisfaction and operational efficiency, and the available data was incomplete and contradictory, making it difficult to pinpoint the root cause and decide on appropriate fixes. My task was to enhance the quality of the information available by adding value through detailed analysis and reporting. This would support the decision-making process to implement effective solutions and improve system performance and reliability. I initiated a comprehensive review of the system errors by consolidating and analysing the fragmented data from various sources, including user reports and internal monitoring systems. I employed advanced analytical techniques to identify patterns and correlations among the reported issues. Recognising the need for accurate and actionable insights, I developed a series of detailed statistical reports highlighting key trends and problem areas. To further support decision-making, I organised and led a series of meetings with key stakeholders, including internal teams and external customers, to gather additional insights and validate the findings. I then translated this complex information into clear, actionable recommendations and implemented corrective actions to address the identified issues. The enhanced analysis and actionable recommendations led to a significant improvement in the system's performance. Customer satisfaction increased as the recurring issues were resolved more effectively, and operational efficiency improved due to reduced system downtime. My contributions not only addressed the immediate concerns but also provided a more reliable foundation for future system enhancements and decision-making processes. I am genuinely excited about the opportunity to apply for this role and contribute to your esteemed organisation. I am committed to upholding the AFP's mission and values, leveraging my skills and experience to support your strategic objectives. I am eager to bring my expertise in intelligence analysis, strategic communication, and coaching to your team, and I am dedicated to making a positive impact on your operations. Thank you for considering my application; I look forward to the opportunity to further discuss how I can contribute to the AFP's continued success.

STATEMENT Graduate Paramedic | Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS)

Dedicated to a challenging and rewarding career as a paramedic, I am eager to commence my professional journey as a Graduate Paramedic with the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS). Holding a Bachelor of Paramedic Science from Queensland University of Technology (QUT), distinguished by excellent academic achievements and a compassionate approach, I am committed to making a difference through the provision of high-quality patient care. Eager to expand my skills and knowledge, I embrace the opportunity to work under the guidance and mentorship of experienced QAS personnel as pivotal in developing the competency required of an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). With a solid foundation in medical procedures, emergency response techniques, and patient care couped with a high level of emotional intelligence and maturity, I am well-prepared to apply my academic learning effectively and accurately in high-pressure situations. CLINICAL PRACTICE: I possess a robust foundation in clinical practice, honed through rigorous academic training and handson experiences during my studies at Queensland University of Technology. This comprehensive background ensures that I can deliver effective pre-hospital patient care, applying advanced medical protocols and techniques adeptly in emergency situations. During my intensive second clinical placement at Maroochydore station with the Queensland Ambulance Service, I was presented with a critical case involving an elderly patient from a nursing home displaying severe sepsis symptoms. Under the watchful eye of my experienced mentor, I adhered to the established clinical practice guidelines, which demanded precision and swift action. I expertly inserted a cubital fossa IV, a procedure critical for immediate fluid resuscitation. I also initiated the administration of isotonic saline, which played a dual role in maintaining essential blood volume and acting as a systemic cooling agent to counteract the patient's elevated temperature. I administered oxygen and ibuprofen to manage discomfort and reduce fever. Through these interventions, I not only stabilised but significantly improved the patient's vital signs during our urgent transport to the hospital. This scenario showcased my ability to blend academic knowledge with practical skills, ensuring high-quality, lifesaving pre-hospital care in a high-stakes environment. Possessing sharp analytical abilities and a strong foundation in clinical reasoning, I am adept at accurately assessing patient needs and reviewing healthcare records to determine the most effective care alternatives. During my second clinical placement with the Queensland Ambulance Service at Maroochydore station, I encountered a patient with sudden onset symptoms and a pre-existing condition of Type 1 Diabetes, which presented a complex diagnostic challenge. My initial task was to assess the patient's condition and formulate an appropriate treatment plan. Given the patient's medical history and symptoms, I hypothesised that he was experiencing Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), although my mentor initially suspected Hyperosmolar Hyperglycaemic State (HSS). Following my mentor’s initial advice, I began treatment for HSS by inserting an antecubital (AC) IV and starting controlled rehydration. However, when a Critical Care Paramedic reassessed and suggested DKA as the more likely diagnosis, I swiftly adapted the treatment plan. I moderated the IV saline infusion rates and continued with the administration of potassium and insulin. This adjustment was critical for restoring intravascular volume, normalising serum glucose and osmolality, correcting electrolyte imbalances, and reducing serum ketones. These timely and accurate modifications to the care plan ensured that the patient's condition stabilised significantly by the time we arrived at the hospital. This experience underscored my ability to leverage deep clinical knowledge and flexible problem-solving skills to deliver superior patient care under pressure. COMMUNICATION & TEAMWORK: My ability to deliver information, advice, instructions, and professional opinions effectively extends across interactions with colleagues, patients, and their families, demonstrating both compassion and clarity in highstress situations. During my initial clinical placement at the Deception Bay station with Queensland Ambulance Service, I faced a profoundly sensitive scenario involving a deceased on arrival (DOA) patient and his distressed mother. My immediate responsibility was to assist in confirming the absence of vital signs, after which my role shifted crucially to communication. I was tasked with the delicate duty of informing the patient’s family of his passing and explaining that resuscitation efforts would not be initiated. Working closely with my mentor, I communicated the tragic news using empathetic yet clear and confident language. I ensured open lines of communication, offering to answer any questions and to assist with contacting additional family members. I carefully explained the procedural steps that would follow, maintaining a supportive presence as more family members arrived. Throughout these interactions, I listened attentively, providing comfort and ensuring that the family’s immediate needs and concerns were addressed. The outcome was that the family members felt informed and supported during this difficult time. They understood the next steps, had the opportunity to ask further questions, and were aware of additional resources available for emotional and practical support. This experience underscored my capacity to handle sensitive information with professionalism, ensuring clear and compassionate communication in critical situations. Throughout my final clinical placement at the North Lakes station with Queensland Ambulance Service, I consistently delivered detailed clinical handovers that aligned perfectly with existing documentation, ensuring seamless transitions to hospital care teams. On one notable occasion, I was responsible for handing over a critically injured patient who had suffered a chest stab wound, a scenario demanding immediate and precise medical attention. My task was to communicate all relevant clinical information effectively to a multidisciplinary team consisting of nurses, doctors, and critical care paramedics, ensuring they had all the necessary details to proceed without delay. Adhering to the IMIST AMBO clinical handover protocol, I provided loud, clear, and concise information during a tense moment in a crowded room. It was crucial not only to relay information swiftly due to the patient's severe condition but also to be thoroughly prepared for any immediate questions to paint the clearest possible clinical picture. The clarity and completeness of my handover meant that no further clarifications were requested by the receiving team. My effective communication facilitated a quick transition to surgical preparation, demonstrating my ability to manage high-pressure situations with clear and direct communication.

In my current role as a Support Worker at CPL, I assist clients with complex disabilities and high care needs, frequently serving as the primary communicator between the medical community, clients, and their families. A particularly memorable instance involved accompanying a client to a doctor’s appointment for routine follow-up testing, during which we received a challenging diagnosis. The doctor informed me of the client’s cancer diagnosis. As the carer present, my responsibilities extended beyond absorbing this critical information. I needed to ask detailed questions relevant to the client’s ongoing care and treatment options, ensuring I gathered all necessary details for a comprehensive handover to managers, other healthcare professionals, and crucially, the client's family. Upon returning from the appointment, I organised a sensitive meeting with the client’s family to discuss the diagnosis. I presented the information calmly and clearly, encouraging an open dialogue by inviting questions and discussing the potential future pathways that I had reviewed with the doctor. I also provided them with additional resources and the doctor’s contact information. It was imperative to maintain a calm yet sympathetic demeanour throughout this discussion to help ease the emotional burden on the family during this overwhelming time. My approach allowed me to convey all pertinent information effectively, giving the family the necessary space to process the news and consider their next steps. By encouraging them to contact the doctor directly for any further queries, I ensured they felt supported and informed. This careful handling of the situation not only facilitated clear understanding but also underscored the importance of compassionate communication in managing client care during critical moments. I thrive in high-pressure environments where teamwork is crucial to achieving organisational goals. This was exemplified during my second clinical placement with the Queensland Ambulance Service at Maroochydore station. At this time, I was part of a critical response team called to a scene where a cardiac arrest patient was already receiving CPR from another paramedic student under the guidance of her mentors. I was tasked to assist by taking turns in performing high-intensity, lifesustaining chest compressions to maintain the patient’s perfusion, a vital part of the resuscitation process. Recognising the need for coordination and endurance in such situations, I communicated with my fellow student. We synchronised our efforts by counting compressions aloud, ensuring when one of us reached 30 compressions, the other could seamlessly take over without interrupting the rhythm. This teamwork extended beyond just swapping roles; we also strategically paused to assess the patient's heart rhythms and continued to vocalise our counts, maintaining a rigorous pace for 20+ minutes. This coordination was crucial as it allowed other team members to prepare and administer defibrillation. Our ability to work cohesively under extreme pressure was instrumental in achieving Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC) for the patient. The seamless CPR provided by the team enabled other paramedics to perform additional critical interventions, ultimately contributing to the patient's survival of a major cardiac event. PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT & PERFORMANCE: My role as a Support Worker caring for individuals with disabilities and high-care needs routinely demands leadership, integrity, accountability, transparency and efficiency, qualities that are crucial for maintaining the standards expected by organisations such as the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS). A particularly poignant example of these principles in action occurred when a client experienced a seizure in their home. This critical situation required immediate and effective management to ensure the safety and well-being of the client. My responsibility extended beyond immediate care; it included leadership among my peers, effective communication with emergency services, and liaison with the client's family, all of which were crucial in managing the incident. Demonstrating decisive leadership, I immediately called for emergency services and coordinated with my colleagues to ensure that the family was promptly informed about the situation. While waiting for paramedics, I utilised my clinical training to safely position the client in a recovery pose to maintain airway patency and prevent further injury. Upon the arrival of the paramedics, I provided a comprehensive overview of the incident and the initial care provided, ensuring seamless continuation of treatment. My actions facilitated a calm and controlled response among my team, whilst ensuring that the client received timely pre-hospital care. My ability to maintain a high level of conduct and performance under pressure not only stabilised the situation but also reassured the client's family and healthcare professionals of our professional capabilities. This incident exemplifies my commitment to upholding the rigorous standards required in emergency care and patient management, contributing significantly to the positive outcomes in critical care situations. At university, I not only fulfilled the requirements of my placements and attended classes, but I also managed to sustain employment in two part-time jobs simultaneously. To navigate this complex schedule, I relied heavily upon meticulous planning and organisation. I utilised a combination of timetables, planners, and calendars to strategically map out my weeks in advance. This rigorous organisation allowed me to balance my academic responsibilities with my professional duties. Moreover, this structured approach to time management was crucial in preserving my personal well-being. It enabled me to allocate dedicated time to unwind with family, friends, and loved ones, essential for maintaining mental and emotional health. As a result of this balanced approach, I navigated the demands of my studies, work, and personal life. I have demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, allowing me to manage data, create compelling presentations, and produce detailed documents efficiently. Additionally, my skills encompass statistical software such as Jamovi, which is crucial for data analysis and interpretation. My proficiency also includes graphic design with Adobe Photoshop, enabling me to handle visual content creation that requires a sophisticated level of detail. Furthermore, I am adept at utilising Google Docs for collaborative projects, ensuring seamless teamwork and communication. I am comfortable and skilled in using a variety of devices including mobile phones, tablets, iPads, laptops, and desktop computers. My familiarity with QAS-specific paperwork and protocols underscores my ability to adapt to sector-specific technologies, ensuring that I meet organisational requirements with precision and competence. OPERATIONAL READINESS/FITNESS FOR DUTY: I am dedicated to maintaining optimal medical, physical, and psychological health to ensure I can perform the duties of a Paramedic safely and effectively. I am free of any medical, physical, or psychological conditions that could impair my ability to perform my responsibilities. To keep physically fit, I regularly attend my local gym, EMF, engaging in workouts at least three to four times a week for an hour each session. I enjoy walking my dogs daily for about 40 minutes, an activity that not only contributes to my physical health but also provides psychological relaxation. I am also exploring the social aspects of physical activity by considering joining a local rowing club. My commitment to well-being extends to my mental health. I actively engage in leisure activities such as reading and art, which I enjoy in my downtime while listening to podcasts. A robust support system composed of family and friends plays a crucial role in my overall well-being, allowing me to excel and maintain high performance throughout all my clinical placements.

Re: Crime Manager Dear Sir/Madam, Demonstrating exceptional results as an accomplished NSW Police leader and investigator with the capacity to lead teams, operations and investigations, develop and implement crime strategies, I wish to express my keen interest to be considered for the above career opportunity with the desire to undertake new challenges whilst implementing crime prevention strategies and initiatives. Having acquired a proven track record of achievement throughout my career with NSW Police Force spanning 25 years, I am positive that I would make a valuable contribution as Crime Manager with the ability to develop and manage crime investigations and crime reduction strategies in accordance with the policy strategy of the Police Area Commander/Police District Commander. My key contributions since 1996 with the New South Wales Police Force include my current role as Detective Sergeant, Robbery and Serious Crime Squad and previously as Senior Drug Investigator & Detective Senior Constable - Drug & Anti-Theft Unit, Undercover Operative & Detective Senior Constable - Undercover Branch and various other roles. Moreover, I am currently performing Higher Duties as Relieving Investigations Coordinator in the Robbery & Serious Crime Squad and previously as Higher Duties, Relieving Investigations Coordinator in the Drug & Firearms Squad and Higher Duties, Forward Commander at the COVID-19 Sydney Airport Arrivals Response. I have gained a broad range of experience in managing service delivery, collaborating and communicating with other law enforcement agencies and community organisations, managing work performance and welfare issues, promoting issues and strategies through local community-based policing initiatives. Moreover, I have led and mentored teams and built positive morale, managed and controlled complex investigations, serious incidents, emergency management situations, whilst contributing to the effective application of scarce community resources. Additionally, I am passionate about learning and imparting my knowledge to my team members and junior staff to achieve a high performing and capable workforce. I possess comprehensive experience in leading and managing proactive investigations, as well as complex, ongoing major investigations, which includes drug investigations. Moreover, I have provided expert evidence at Court in relation to drug pricing, quantities and telephone codes. My high-level investigative skills can be evidenced during my involvement in Strike Force BASSY in May 2020. The investigation was initiated to investigate 3 suspects allegedly involved in the supply of firearms in the Newcastle area. This source driven investigation identified that the 3 suspects were not capable of supplying any firearms at that time, however they were involved in the street level supply of methylamphetamine. Rather than close down the job, I liaised with local Newcastle City investigators and Senior Management, provided consultancy to the Command and committed to supplying them with investigative teams to conduct numerous, simultaneous warrants to arrest drug suppliers in their area. As a result, this greatly affected the availability of methylamphetamine in their command and resulted in positive local media coverage regarding police response and the community. I have worked diligently to continuously to improve the quality of service delivered by the State Crime Command as demonstrated with Project Viper in October 2019 where I liaised with police from Queensland to arrange officers to present to NSW Police on Operation Viper. This information day was attended by numerous police from various Commands at State Crime and State Intelligence, up to and including the rank of Assistant Commissioner. Whilst in its infancy, the project utilised police holdings, including mobile automated number plate recognition and Body Warn Videos to identify vehicles by other means. Once a database is built around the program, the ability to identify vehicles involved in offences greatly improves. As a result, this project has now been taken on by State Intelligence to build our own version of Project Viper, which will improve the quality of service provided by the State Crime Command. Due to my relevant experience as an undercover operative means, I have infiltrated criminal networks to gather evidence and intelligence. I am aware of such networks methodologies and I have a great ability to recruit sources involved in this level of crime. Once such source led to the formation of Strike Force COZIE in 2018, where a number of semi and fully automatic firearms were seized from the streets. My background in covert policing and in major crime has made me well aware of the sensitivities around major crime and the operating environment with State Crime Command. I have been directly involved in investigations which have identified corrupt police officers. I am aware of my obligations under the Police Act 1990 to report such behaviour and I am conversant with relevant legislation, policies and procedures relevant to major crime, telephone intercepts, surveillance devices and human source management. Find attached my résumé which details my experience and accomplishments. I welcome the opportunity to attend an interview where I would be pleased to elaborate regarding my suitability to contribute as a Crime Manager with a commitment to leading and managing successful investigations with a proactive approach to tackling crime. Feel welcome to contact me should you have any questions. Yours sincerely, Client Name

TARGETED QUESTIONS Investigations Coordinator | Motor Unit, Financial Crimes Squad, State Crime Command QUESTION 1: The effective management and coordination of multiple investigations, with often varying levels of risk and complexity, is a key function of an Investigations Coordinator. How would you ensure this at the Motor Unit? Throughout my career with the NSW Police Force spanning twenty-four years, I have led complex and protracted criminal investigations at the PAC and the State Crime Command. I am dedicated to ensuring the effective management and coordination of multiple investigations, with varying levels of risk and complexity in the Motor Unit. To achieve investigative outcomes, I would strategically balance operational and corporate risk; instigate loss of time sensitive evidence or evidence opportunities; measure against teams objectives and the Motor Unit’s business plan. I would work diligently to maximise disruption to Organised Crime Networks and in general to accommodate the public’s best interests whilst undertaking considerations for the safety of the public, encompassing actual/physical and perceived public perceptions. My experience providing effective management and coordination of multiple investigations in the Motor Unit can be demonstrated in my previous contributions whilst managing the Ryde PAC, Proactive Crime Team. As the Team Leader, I directed, mentored and managed a team of twenty-four junior investigators, responsible for running many criminal investigations. In this role, I guided and directed the team to carry out ongoing investigations into a large crew of offenders responsible for over thirty car thefts, mainly via break and enters to steal car keys. Under my leadership and direction, the junior investigators targeted offenders through normal investigative strategies such as fingerprint analysis, canvassing the local area and through proactive measures including bail checks, person searches and police interaction. As a result, the criminal group were dismantled. They were eventually all charged and bail was refused. In NSW, the penalty for stealing a motor vehicle carries up to 10-years prison under section 154F Crimes Act 1900 (NSW). As the Investigation Coordinator, Detective Inspector at the Fraud Unit in the Financial Crimes Squad State Crime Command, I managed numerous investigations including a serious organised fraud operation which involved obtaining over twenty cars. Using a strategic approach, I worked diligently to balance the risk to these cars continuing to be stolen by fraud, and their potential use in violent offences to gather evidence for a prosecution, i.e. disruption vs prosecution. Positive outcomes were achieved as the offenders were successfully arrested and charged, ceasing the criminal syndicate. While the Strike Force was known as SF ONSITE was a top priority for the investigative team, I simultaneously managed other Strike Forces being investigated and I successfully ensured they were all appropriately staffed. As I determined that SF ONSITE presented the greater risk, this was prioritised. In my substantive position as OIC of SF TRONTO (Perinal Bushfire SF), I led several investigations on serial bushfire lighting offenders, resulting in several people charged over the past year. I utilise high-level risk management skills to make strategic decisions which allows offences to potentially continue until we obtain sufficient evidence to charge the offenders. I carefully weighed up risks to public safety and ensure al required contingencies are put in place with firefighting authorities such as Fire & Rescue NSW and NSW Rural Fire Service to optimise safety whilst achieving prosecutions. QUESTION 2: Demonstrate how you have leveraged on your professional relationships with internal or external stakeholders to deliver an efficient and effective operational outcome. Since the commencement of my career with NSW Police Force in December 2000, I have established, maintained and leveraged professional relationships with internal teams including other districts, State Intelligence Commands, Deputy Commissioners as well as external stakeholders including the Australian Federal Police, Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service and other agencies. I collect, analyse and disseminate intelligence related to high-volume crime, serious crime, organised crime, major events and public order, working closely with other law enforcement agencies and partners to ensure the effective sharing of information and intelligence. In my current role as Detective Sergeant Arson Unit, I have been actively involved in negotiations between the NSW Police and Rural Fire Service (RFS) on two Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) in relation to (i) investigation of fires and (ii) information sharing. Additionally, I manage the RFS Liaison Officer who is embedded within my office during the bushfire season. Working collaboratively, we ensure information flow and keep updated with current trends in fire/arson and newly identified hot spots to identify potential new serial arson offenders. Whilst working with the RFS Liaison Officer, focused on delivering effective operational outcomes, I have identified several serial arson hotspots which has led to the successful arrest of offenders.

Sensitive: Personal Additionally, I played an instrumental role as a key member of the working party between the Arson Unit and NSW State Coroner to develop the new Coronial reporting criteria for fires in NSW. This was successfully developed and subsequently I prepared a report to the NSW Police Executive to endorse the new reporting criteria into the NSW Police Handbook i.e. Master Policy Document. I re-wrote the Fire Section of the handbook to be more contemporary and assisted Police Commands in fire investigation. These initiatives were all endorsed and successfully adopted by the Executive into the NSW Police Handbook. While relieving as the Investigations Coordinator, Detective Inspector at the Fraud Unit, Financial Crimes Squad for five months, I participated in MoU negotiations with ASIC which was already partially underway. Furthermore, I participated in monthly meetings and information sharing with ASIC, contributing as the NSW Police single point of contact with ASIC and managed the formal information sharing between the two organisations. Moreover, I utilised an influential approach to negotiate access to the Australian Financial Crimes Exchange (AFCX) for the Financial Crimes Squad, which is a database of fraud information on offenders and accounts. Positive outcomes were achieved as we obtained access to AFCX, which aided in crucial information gathering for the Financial Crimes Squad. In the majority of my investigative and leadership roles over the past two decades, I have coached and mentored colleagues, providing guidance, advice, support and feedback. In many cases staff members were recently transferred from another PAC and were unfamiliar with the process adopted at State Crime level, and complexities involved in investigations. I ensured that staff were aware of the mandate of the unit and responsibilities when responding to investigations by providing support and directing them to information.

APPLICANT RESPONSE APS 5 Senior Border Force Officer | Position No: 49009758 49004487 | Department of Home Affairs Throughout my employment with the Department of Home Affairs spanning 13 years including various APS5 and APS5 positions within the various precincts; seaport, aviation, remote and CEF. I have effortlessly transitioned and performed numerous responsibilities as a Border Force Officer including key contributions in the Mobile Response Group, Torres Strait District Command, Townsville District Office, Targeted and Border Operations Darwin Thursday Island District Office and Airport Operations Cairns. I have recently moved from Torres Strait District Command (TSDC) to Mobile Response Group (MRG) in Brisbane. Currently as an APS 4, I am well-respected by colleagues in providing quality leadership, support and direction regarding all day-to-day activities and often provide guidance to my team in applications including ICS, EXAMS, NIS, CRE, TRIM, CSP, DGMS and Analyst Notebook. I believe my broad experience, ability to achieve objectives and think out the box to achieve resolutions would render suitable for either the Operations & Planning Branch within the Risk Evaluation and Disruption (RED) team or the Chief of Staff Branch within the Training and Capability team as I have demonstrated sound experience in all aspects of team leadership, working at the strategic, operational and tactical levels with a high level of resilience and ability to engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels. I am very interested in the APS5 Senior Border Force Officer role as I enjoy undertaking new challenges, thrive in a fast-paced environment and I am keen to move out of my comfort zone and undertake higher responsibilities with the desire to lead others to deliver business area goals and operational targets in a complex, sensitive and at times high-risk operational environment. I am adept in dealing positively with uncertainty and cope effectively in an environment characterised by change, with competencies in determining the appropriate course of action despite lack of clarity. Furthermore I have readily identified and addressed risks that may impede work completion as an APS5 and APS6, proactively escalating issues that have not been controlled to ensure work remains on track. On one occasion the introduction of daily scheduled international flights to Townsville brought significant changes to the operating model within the ABF District Office (DO). I was responsible for identifying and supplementing roster deficiencies with nine FIFO positions. FIFO deployments were three week rotations, which continued over eight months until permanent positions were filled. In addition to my regular BAU duties, I successfully coordinated and integrated FIFO positions into the DO and achieved this outcome by firstly identifying the skills and qualifications required to ensure balanced team compositions. Secondly I sent joining instructions to scheduled FIFO Officers outlining behavioural expectations as well as logistical aspects such as accommodation and transport arrangements. This ensured a smooth transition into the work area. Furthermore I provided succession planning via the creation and implementation of overtime availabilities registers for Townsville and FIFO Officers. In order to optimise results, I frequently coordinated consultative meetings with Team Leaders, District Commander and Chief of Staff to ensure stakeholders were briefed of team compositions and rostering across multiple shifts, raising concerns regarding FIFO performance issues as required. I initiated and implemented feedback forms for FIFO Officers, enabling continuous evaluations and improvements to be achieved for future deployments. As a result of my diligence in establishing and maintaining FIFO deployment framework, workflow demands were successfully achieved across maritime, cargo aviation and remote domains. Our integrated teamwork was recognised with a Secretary and Commissioner Award and I was selected to represent the DO at the awards ceremony to commemorate one year of DIBP integration. Maintaining a solution focused approached approach, I persist and focus on achieving objectives even in difficult circumstances, remaining positive and responding to pressure in a controlled manner. Contributing a high level of energy and drive, I am committed to meeting objectives and always seek to resolve issues promptly which impact on the achievement of desired outcomes for the Department. Upon commencing in the Thursday Island District Office ABF, I identified numerous communication and IT deficiencies on the outer islands. I noted these issues severely diminished the operational capability of the ten APS1 and APS2 indigenous Border Monitoring Officers (BMO) based in these remote localities within the Torres Strait. Moreover this situation also had WH&S implications, thus hindering work area outcomes. In order to identify specific issues, I liaised with BMOs individually as well as my supervisor in order to form a comprehensive overview and understanding of the unique situation for each operational area (island). I then created a register to encapsulate key categories; phone lines, signal strength, internet connectivity, UHF radio and equipment defects, then formed a strategy to address the identified deficiencies. I promptly engaged the assistance of the DIBP IT section, external telecommunication providers and DIBP property executives and provided recommendations to my supervisor based on local knowledge gained through my communication with BMOs and local Government agencies. In order to address the WH&S implications for these communication deficiencies, I enlisted assistance from QLD WHS. I organised a meeting with WHS and TI DO management to outline my concerns and findings. My efforts resulted significant improvements, as several islands now have reliable phone communication. My register is now the foundation of an action plan for rectifying ABF communications network deficiencies in the Torres Strait. My commitment to organisational goals has been recognised and commended with my appointment to ongoing Acting APS5 duties, supervising ten officers.

STATEMENT Chief Officer | Queensland Police Service | Job Ad Ref: QLD/520389/23 Demonstrating accountability for the execution of results through professionalism, persistence and transparency as a high performing leader within community-focused law enforcement and emergency services organisations, I am confident that my skills and experience would be well utilised as a Chief Officer at the Queensland Police Service. Successfully optimising and developing capability to deliver volunteer led services, I have successfully planned, coordinated and led emergency and disaster related capability to ensure community safety with the NSW State Emergency Service and NSW Police Service. In addition to my extensive experience in the public service, I have completed various qualifications including Graduate Diploma of Crisis Leadership, Graduate Diploma of Strategic Leadership, Advanced Diploma of Government (Emergency Services), Advanced Diploma of Public Safety (Management) and various other training. Communicating with influence, I have provided high-quality, expert advice and strategic direction to drive organisational vision and operations through the delivery of high level strategy, policy, reform and program advice to deliver departmental objectives. During my tenure at The NSW State Emergency Service, I was advised of the upcoming development of a North Eastern Zone Capability Plan in line with principles of North Eastern Zone Business Plan and NSW SES Strategic Plan, in order to inform current and future capability required to meet operational needs within the zone. In my capacity as the Zone Commander of the newly formed Zone Lead and task Operations Team and Matrix Teams, I was tasked to contribute to overall information gathering and analysis to create strategic direction of zone through capability plan within set timeframes. Determined to achieve objectives, I utilised my leadership skills to coach and mentor new team members on requirements and thought processes whilst clearly explaining the importance of the plan. I provided clear direction and a framework including parameters of requirements and created strong working relationships within the newly formed team to achieve clearly defined goals. Maintaining a solution-focused approach, I resolved conflict that arose between teams on work priorities and maintained a high level of focus to achieve objectives within designated timeframes. Under my leadership and direction, excellent outcomes were achieved as I successfully introduced a robust Zone Capability Plan, outlining current and future needs to meet operational requirements within the North Eastern Zone. The plan effectively met the needs of North Eastern Zone and delivered on objectives. Furthermore, I established a high performing and engaged team, whilst developing and leading a positive culture of working as one group, despite matrix reporting lines. Demonstrating strong leadership skills, I am experienced in managing, coaching, mentoring and training high performing teams, building organisational capability through the development of high-performance teams, whilst planning and delivering effective outcomes and service wide programs. Whilst leading and developing teams, I provide direction and feedback whilst motivating and engaging team members in the achievement of team objectives. It was determined that Local Flood Plans for the North Eastern Zone were non-compliant upon the outset of a newly formed zone with minimum staff and leadership to complete this work. NSW State Emergency Service are the lead and responsible for the creation and maintenance of Local Flood Plans within each Local Government Area for the State of New South Wales working closely with Local Emergency Management Committees and other key external stakeholders. Local Flood Plans included three Volumes and guides on planning, preparedness and response for flooding events. During this time, I was tasked to build high performing Planning Team with strong leadership and clear direction to ensure compliance in all three Volumes of Local Flood Plans within North Eastern Zone in set timeframes. I led and coordinated the recruitment of vacant positions and formed a new team of suitable persons to complete this significant work. Moreover, I met with the Planning Coordinator and set objectives to meet desired outcomes. I then engaged with stakeholders including Local and Region Committees, providing clear direction and timeframes. Throughout the process, I monitored progress and ensured each plan was completed and tabled at relevant LEMC and endorsed. I worked in close collaboration with Planning Coordinator and team member to develop high performing culture, ensuring key objectives were met with regular check-ins. As a result, we are on target to achieve compliance in all three Volumes of Local Flood Plans by 31 December 2023. This has been a rewarding yet large volume of work, completed by a newly formed team that I guided and supported. The completion of this work will see North Eastern Zone better prepared through this planning work for response and recovery in operational events. As an emergency services leader, I have exercised broad external influence to drive strategy and optimise the development of capability and capacity to deliver volunteer led services, including significant preparation and responses during Disaster and Emergency Management events. On March 18, 2021, the NSW East Coast experienced extreme rainfall along with significant rainfall in many other parts of the State. This led to widespread flooding in NSW affecting regions from the Queensland border through to Sydney metropolitan area, parts of the South Coast and multiple locations in inland NSW. Flood warnings covered an area affecting six million people and 25,500 residents were subject to evacuation orders, with twenty-three communities left isolated. The final flood warnings were not lifted until early June 2021. NSW SES received over 14,500 requests for assistance and there were two flood related fatalities. Other agencies involved included NSW Police Force, Fire and Rescue NSW, Ambulance NSW, Volunteer Rescue Association, Marine Rescue NSW, Surf Lifesaving NSW and The Australian Defence Force (ADF). Reporting directly to the NSW SES State Duty Commander, I performed the role as Operations Commander and Incident Controller with 100% accountability for the event in the Metro Zone. My ability to lead and coordinate large teams to drive the strategic direction of operational response was well utilised and achieved positive outcomes for the community. My capabilities in emergency response management to drive innovative and contemporary solutions that supports the service quality to our communities were used. I represented NSW SES in media appearances such as TV, social media and radio to ensure communities were kept updated on the situation and prewarned of the oncoming severe weather. I effectively led a multi-agency Incident Management Team (IMT), liaising and engaging with various agencies such as RFS, NSW Fire and Rescue, NSW Police, Interstate SES Agencies and Australian Defence Force (ADF).

I worked for NSW Police for eighteen years and draw upon my established relationships and networks during events to obtain required the support and trust of other agencies to ensure the response to community is effective and efficient. I utilised data provided from the Bureau of Meteorology and analysis of daily briefing reports from State Operation Centre to guide decision making. Furthermore, I undertook extensive stakeholder management, consulting with Local MP’s, local councillors, members of community groups to ensure they understood the SES response and collaborated closely with them to meet their needs. Demonstrating expertise in planning and developing, I have effectively developed and prioritised organisational plans, policy and risk management activities to ensure that the organisation designs, implements and delivers outcomes consistent with Government policies and directives. In my work as Zone Commander with the NSW SES, I have undertaken extensive work and ensured all Volume 1 flood plans are up-to-date for the Metro Zone whilst in command and now for North Eastern Zone which covers the North Coast of New South Wales. During operational periods, I have facilitated daily Incident Management Team and State Headquarter briefings, overseeing situational awareness updates. I have represented NSW SES at key stakeholder meetings with senior management of other emergency service organisations and Local and State government officials. On many occasions, I have represented the senior leadership team of the NSW SES including the Commissioner at live press conferences and other media events during times of intense operational periods. I have recently appeared on behalf of the NSW SES Commissioner at the Senate Select Committee for Australian Disaster Resilience and have been responsible for Interagency Coordination and liaison with numerous stakeholders including Interstate SES agencies, NSW Ambulance, NSW RFS, Fire & Rescue and NSW Police, Government officials and Local Community leaders. In my work at NSW SES, I was tasked to assist communities along Georges River to understand flood risks working on the ‘before it will happen again campaign.’ This entailed working with locals to stress the need for people who live and work in the area to be aware of their flood risks. Running since June 2021, the campaign advocates for communities along the Georges River to understand their risks and make the necessary steps to be prepared. To help drive the message further, NSW SES, with support from its Principal Partner NRMA Insurance, produced a series of videos with local volunteers and community members sharing their experiences of floods and stressing the need for others to be flood aware. Commissioner Carlene York said the videos are aimed at connecting communities with real experiences and their local NSW SES volunteers. We also developed FloodSafe tips in 25 different languages to ensure we are reaching everyone. As the Zone Commander for Metropolitan Sydney, I advised stakeholders that while communities living along the river may have experienced minor flooding previously, floods can potentially get much worse as floods can vary and that’s why it is important community members know their risks no matter the size of flood. To help us better understand what communities know about floods, I called upon people living in the area to complete our online survey. Engendering a culture of accountability and transparency, I am adept in leading, managing and maintaining the delivery of systems to ensure a robust governance management framework, including corporate, risk management, contractual, budgeting and reporting frameworks. In my work as a Zone Planning Coordinator, I have undertaken extensive work and ensured all plans are up-to-date for the Metro Zone, facilitating daily Incident Management Team and State Headquarter briefings, overseeing situational awareness updates. Moreover, I represented Commissioner Carlene York at a live press conference for the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC). Communicating with influence, I was assigned to undertake Interagency Coordination and liaise with stakeholders including Interstate SES agencies, NSW Ambulance, NSW RFS, Fire & Rescue and NSW Police. The Hawkesbury-Nepean River is complex with bottlenecks, therefore evacuations need to be staged and timed for safe evacuation. I was accountable for overseeing paperwork for these orders to ensure they had the correct information and sign off prior to the issuing of orders. The Federal Member for the Hornsby area tried to board one of our boats while we were still responding to requests for help, hence I calmly spent 45 minutes explaining to him why this was not able to occur at this time as community safety was the priority. As a compassionate leader, I recognise when team members are fatigued and put steps in place to ensure they gain a sufficient break. I executive sound fatigue management by ensuring we have sufficient team members rostered so everyone can take time off. I recently implemented rotating out with the Deputy Zone Commander to ensure that we both get rest days. Driving a culture of collaboration, I identify critical relationships, developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with key government and agency stakeholders. In current work at NSW State Emergency Service, I have developed strong working relationships with key stakeholders in the Northern Rivers upon creation of the North Eastern Zone. As Commander of North Eastern Zone, I have been required to establish relationships with local government and communities’ key stakeholders. Northern Rivers has been subject to significant flooding in recent years and the need to build strong relationships is critical. To achieve desired outcomes and collaborate with others, I have facilitated a series of one-on-one meetings with key stakeholders including State and Federal Members and have arranged and led a Community Forum for an introduction and to listen to the needs and concerns of the local community. Additionally, I represented NSW State Emergency Service at Local and Regional Committees with other Emergency Service Agencies, building working relationships and establishing trust in our agency in these areas. As a result of my diligence and initiative, I was able to identify and develop strong relationships with key stakeholders as the Local Representative for NSW State Emergency Service. Demonstrating Public Service professionalism and accountability as an experienced public service professional, I have represented the NSW State Emergency Service and NSW Police Service at numerous high level internal and external meetings and forums. I represented the NSW State Emergency Service Commissioner at a Senate Select Committee for Australian Disaster Resilience, appearing before the Senate Select Committee and representing our agency professionally. I prepared for this appearance, I ensured my knowledge of all policies, strategies and work were broad and up-to-date in order to answer questions as presented in a high pressure environment. As a result, I attended and represented the NSW State Emergency Service professionally and answered all questions without referring any to questions on notice. Due to time constraints some additional questions on notice provided upon conclusion. I received praise from the Commissioner and other members of the senior leadership team for my performance at this level in representing the agency professionally. The opportunity to contribute as a Chief Officer at the Queensland Police Service would be the realisation of a long standing goal which I embrace with enthusiasm. I am committed to providing strategic leadership, direction, advice and management of the SES to achieve organisational outcomes, sustained volunteerism and capability service delivery through the delivery of programs and plans to deliver an effective Disaster and Emergency Services Agency.

Having gained a wealth of training, skills and experience, I believe I would make a valuable addition to your team as a Visa Decision Maker with advanced problem solving, decision making, strategic thinking and stakeholder management skills. I am keen to undertake meaningful work with the desire to grow my career, participate in ongoing training and I am adaptable to work in various departments/sections as required. In my work as a Front Office Manager, I have demonstrated high level organisation, communication, positive strategic planning and decision making skills. As a confident communicator, I believe my ability to work closely and collaboratively with other federal agencies to achieve mutually beneficial national objectives would be well utilised as I have demonstrated exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills to date. I understand that DHA is a great place to work and has an important mission as a central policy agency, providing coordinated strategy and policy leadership for Australia's federal law enforcement, border, cyber security, immigration and security related functions. I demonstrate a passion for consistently meeting and exceeding the desired level of results with a commitment to continuous improvement, maintaining a high level of focus, intensity and drive. I have successfully managed a wide range of situations where I experienced significant challenges and was able to devise workable solutions to effectively and efficiently rectify the situation. Maintaining a high level of motivation, I consistently set personal and career goals, persistently striving to achieve them. During my tenure with Hotel Oakwood, one of the business nights for our Hotel is River Fire Night where most hotel rooms are booked out well in advance at a higher rate, given the fact that we have one of the best views of fireworks in the city. The rooms that are not sold on last day would also go on sale for 400% higher rate than normal room rate. Around midday one of reservation team members advised that due to the booking engine error we have over sold the hotel room by 2 rooms which means we have the bookings but physically we don’t have any rooms for our guests. At the same time we received a complaint that one of the room’s ceiling dropped on the floor due to the water flooding in the room while the guest was in the room. As we had 100% occupancy, it was busiest day of the year with 500+ guests traffic in the hotel. Therefore I had to quickly to think on my feet and make decisions and ensure (i) guest safety was a priority and that it was safe where the ceiling had fallen in the room; (ii) I needed to find the reason why we were over booked in 2 rooms; and (iii) I needed to find other accommodation for over-booked guests. I quickly asked my reservation team to close all websites to ensure that we are not selling anymore rooms and everything needed to be communication via phone calls now. I then needed to determine which guests were paying the cheapest rates and who had not yet arrived. I then quickly called the Maintenance Manager and asked him to come with me to the room where the ceiling had fallen to check if we could fix the room or whether I needed to organise a new room for the same guest. This would not be not good news as we would be three rooms over booked. I rushed to the room with first aid kit and spoke to guest to ensure that she was fine and not hurt in anyway. The guest advised me that she was here to study for her medical exam and she was not happy with this situation as she should be focusing on her study. After making sure she was fine and time was precious for her to study, I decided to move her to a different room on the same floor and organise a free upgrade and breakfast in her room for her as a service recovery so she could focus on her study. I helped her to move her bags and gave her my details so if she needed anything she could call me directly rather than the front desk. The maintenance team advised that we were not able to fix the room they would need to get plumbers in to fix the water and a plasterer for ceiling. I then called my ex-colleagues who worked in a different five star hotel and where I was lucky h to secure three rooms for my guests. I then called each guest and apologised to them due to the technical/maintenance issues we were not able to accommodate them tonight and we apologise for the inconvenience but I have booked them in 5 star property close to our property and all the transport from our property, accommodation and breakfast charges will be taken care of by us. Once the guests were in our hotel, I personally drove them in our company car there and introduced them to my friend who worked there so they could be looked after during their stay. Upon my return, I called the IT team to check on the issue where our booking engine was not working and fixed it to avoid the same issue again. Excellent outcomes were achieved as at end, the hotel finished the day with 100% occupancy. The guest who had an exam saw me after her exam and was really happy with our prompt assistance. All three guests in the other property left the property with very positive reviews about their hotel and our hotel for assisting them during the process and going above and beyond our call of duty. Having worked in the private sector for many years, I am keen to make a transition into the public service with a desire to build a long-term career with the Department of Home Affairs. I am confident that my administration and customer service background would be well utilised as a Visa Decision Maker and my ability to make sound decisions and resolve problems.

Moreover, I have utilised the Queensland Police “email to SMS” system to provide advice to police informants as well as provide urgent advice. Whilst undertaking the role of Crew Leader while with the Rural Fire Service on a routine fire call during a local fire ban we arrived at an incident and as I was assessing the incident the occupant become aggressive towards me and appeared disgruntled with our attendance. Using the knowledge on relevant legislation I practice daily with the Queensland Police Service I was able to provide the landowner with the relevant advice and instructions on the current fire ban and relevant laws and offences associated with lighting unpermitted fires in such time. The fire appeared to be debris from a recently demolished house in a pit dug by an onsite excavator, at this time it was posing no threat to life or property. Due to this non-threating fire I had the time to effectively negotiate and reason with the landowner who in turn permitted access to his property to extinguish the fire. I briefed my crew and outlined my plan and the situation to them. Whilst my crew was in action, I was monitoring them and then provided relevant community education material about how to access fire ban information and the process and contact details to apply for a permit to the land holder. From working within the Queensland Police Service Communications Centre, I have highly developed skills in managing multiple acute time-critical incidents with acumen while maintaining a professional, empathetic and calm approach. Investigator | Requisition ID: 5129 | Australian Federal Police Having gained extensive experience with Queensland Police Service and the Australian Army in various operational, investigative and leadership roles, I am actively pursuing a new opportunity as an Investigator with the Australian Federal Police (AFP). Dedicated to undertaking new challenges, I am eager to make a positive impact with the capacity to greatly contribute to the ability of the AFP and partners to concentrate their powers and capabilities most accurately and for maximum impact on crime. I understand the National Central Bureau (NCB) seeks information needed from other NCBs to help investigate crime or criminals in our country and share criminal data and intelligence to assist other countries. Driving a continuous improvement agenda as a results-driven policing professional, I strive to achieve team objectives and deliver on intended results, building capability and responsiveness within the team. Well organised and efficient, I make sound decisions and maintain a highly flexible approach with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously, handle interruptions, competing deadlines and changing work priorities. Dedicated to continuous improvement, I believe it is important to challenge procedures and ways of working regularly to determine if there is a more efficient way of performing tasks, maximising organisation and productivity. Whilst working in the Police Communications Centre, I undertake either the dispatcher or 000 call taker role. The demands, types and complexity of calls for service are everchanging. I have aided key incident managers with critical information during acute calls for service. A key incident occurred which was a homicide in which the male offender fatally shot his wife and was still on foot armed with the firearm. I immediately dispatched this to crews, briefed the onroad Senior Sergeants via the radio who were responding also. I liaised directly with Polair on their operations channel with a vison of utilising their capability to provide situational awareness prior to police arriving on scene in relation to the dwelling and offenders position. I then utilised satellite mapping overlays to establish a cordon. Polair was overhead and identified a possibly deceased female located slumped over in a chair on the rear veranda of the target address. We were able to monitor the Polair downlink and observe the armed offenders’ movements around the acreage property. The mission objective and ideal outcome in this case was the male surrender to police and taken into custody without any further incident and this result was achieved. Communicating with influence and credibility, I am adept in engaging varied audiences with the ability to articulate concepts and put forward arguments to people all levels to achieve outstanding outcomes. I seek out and facilitate opportunities to engage and collaborate with stakeholders to develop organisational, whole-of-government and cross-jurisdictional solutions, developing and maintaining credible relationships, representing the work area professionally whilst promoting and articulating the AFP vision. Whilst working in the Police Communications Centre, I received a triple zero call from a hysterical member of the public who had just witnessed a male climb a tree and hang himself with a noose. It was critical that I was able to provide clear precise advice and offer support to the distressed informant to calm him down and get him to direct other members of the public to assist in either cutting the male down or lifting him up to release pressure on his neck. I was in constant liaison with the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) via the Inter-agency Computer Aided Dispatch Electronic Messaging System (ICEMS). The park the male attempted suicide in was a large park on the Gold Coast with many entrances and play areas, in this instance it was vital my messages to both Queensland Police Service (QPS) and other agencies attending was both concise and effective to aid in a faster response to a Code One Incident. I possess highly developed written communication skills which can be demonstrated during my employment as a Protective Service Officer which has involved preparing numerous reports in a clear and accurate manner, which have been utilised in criminal investigations. Throughout my career, I have fostered productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders including partner agencies and government departments. I seek opportunities to develop relationships within the department, key stakeholders and Australian Government partners including the Department of Home Affairs, the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and the Australian Secret Intelligence Service to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

Providing sound leadership and working with staff to translate strategic direction into operational goals, I build a shared understanding of the AFP’s strategic priorities, processes and outcomes whilst anticipating changes and remaining flexible. Instilling a clear vision and meaningful direction to staff, I clarify priorities and inspire staff to achieve them. Showing judgement, intelligence and commonsense, I request clear expectations when work is assigned, identifying and using resources effectively, applying and building professional expertise whilst delivering positive outcomes. Whilst completing training in the Australian Army, I was often allocated the section second in command role with the Section Commander being an instructor of the course and provides mentoring throughout and also identifies my leadership skills and provides feedback or further challenges. Throughout the field phase of a basic course my section would often be confronted by unfriendly fire whilst patrolling both day and night. It was my responsibility to rapidly identify fire teams, provide a verbal target indication and firing orders. During contacts it is a very loud, stressful and demanding environment therefore it is imperative that I am clear, concise and articulate with my firing order. This aids in mission completion or rapid target neutralisation with at least causalities as possible. I always take the time to get to know my team as well as make it a priority to become aware of their battle habits and key indicators that they will or are going to struggle with the task ahead. My conscious knowledge of this allows me to make better decisions and have a greater understanding on how that soldier will react during adversaries. I have developed sound technical knowledge, expertise and skills which has enabled me to provide high quality strategic and operational services. Whilst working in the Police Communications Centre on a Saturday night a male was located inside the Brisbane Airport armed with a knife threating other patrons and in possession of a suspicious device. After the Australian Federal Police (AFP) apprehended the male, during a later interview with investigators the male made several threats that he had set an explosive device that were either on a timer or remotely detonated by himself or another associate in one of three locations on the Gold Coast. Upon receiving this information, I coordinated the initial response of General Duty Units to secure the areas the male specified. A Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) was invoked by the Regional Duty Officer which then in turn I was required to aid in managing and coordination a swift and prompt evacuation of multiple high-rise buildings, restaurants, shops and clubs on a Friday night in the Surfers Paradise Entertainment precinct. Due to the emergent nature of the evacuation required it was decided that Police would activate building fire alarms in an attempt to evacuate members of the public more efficiently rather than door knocking on every unit door or relying on other non-streamlined evacuation procedures. For each activation, I was in constant contact with Queensland Fire and Emergency Firecom to advise the exact building and alarm being activated to avoid Fire and Rescue resources being allocated in error. Constant liaison with external agencies such as Firecom, QAS, AFP, CASA, Airport Security and Local Councils was required and my ability to multitask and provide multiple constant tailored sitreps was critical in the operational execution of evacuations in line with the invoked PSPA. In addition to this my proven ability to manage both internal and external relationships as well as working collaboratively across multiple agencies further aided in the devices being located and specialist policing resources being on site with the ability to declare the devices safe. Championing as an advocate for the highest standards of ethical behaviour, I support a culture of integrity and professionalism. I provide leadership in ethical behaviour and I am committed to ensuring the AFP’s goals, priorities and standards are met regardless of my personal views or agenda. Displaying a high level of resilience and courage, I remain calm under pressure and create a climate that supports open, constructive discussion around critical issues, whilst responding to difficult and complex situations and challenges effectively with a calm demeanour. I have been deployed both with the Rural Fire Service and State Emergency Service to multiple disaster events across Queensland including Cyclone Debbie and most recently the 2019/20 Queensland Bushfire Emergency. I have effectively led small groups such as a crew in a fire appliance up to managing over 120 emergency service personnel during a multi-agency exercise and deploying as a strike team in response to a disaster. I have proven myself to be a committed, strategic thinking and resourceful individual which is evident through my current employment, volunteer work and university study. As a dedicated member of the QPS since Jan 2018, I have worked as a Communications Operator in the Community Contact, Road Policing & Regional Support Command in addition to my contributions as a Field Operations Manager and Deputy Group Leader (Honorary) with the Australian Army over the past 5 years. The wide variety of workplace experiences has effectively assisted me in introducing new solutions to security and managing personnel problems in the workplace. Furthermore, I have completed Certificate III in Public Safety and I am currently undertaking a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Bachelor of Public Safety and Security. The opportunity to contribute as an Investigator Professional with the AFP would be the realisation of a long standing goal which I embrace with genuine enthusiasm with a commitment to fulfilling all position requirements. I am eager to undertake new challenges with the capacity to help investigate crime or criminals in our country and share criminal data and intelligence to assist other countries. Page | 2

Makes insightful decisions

During the first night of the catastrophic floods in the Gympie region, my role as Acting Fire Communications Supervisor was critical. With virtually no advance warning of the impending severity from the Bureau of Meteorology, the real scope of the crisis became apparent only as emergency calls surged. In response, I effectively managed the FCC's operations by prioritising rescue efforts, activating Swift Water Rescue services, and identifying strategically placed staging posts. I redistributed resources to bolster depleted stations and initiated the Temporary Operational Response Plan (TORP). Simultaneously, I maintained comprehensive communication with senior management and ensured the well-being of the staff, some of whom were actively coordinating rescues of individuals trapped in precarious conditions. My acute awareness of the operations room dynamics allowed me to manage the workflow efficiently, provide critical support to avoid staff fatigue, and handle over 100 emergency calls successfully. Recognising the emotional toll on our team, I facilitated access to peer support and later led reflective discussions to extract lessons for future emergency responses, demonstrating my strategic leadership in crisis management. As an active member of the Part-Time FCO Forum, I championed the integration of part-time policies that significantly benefited the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services by offering work-life balance, stabilising the roster, and reducing overtime needs. My efforts to articulate the advantages of part-time employment and align them with organisational goals were pivotal in reshaping workforce management. This initiative not only met immediate operational needs but also positioned us to manage increased demands efficiently. My role in promoting this policy involved not just presenting the benefits but also actively engaging with staff to model and encourage acceptance of these changes. By spearheading this innovative approach, I fostered a more flexible and responsive organisational culture, enhancing our capacity to adapt to both routine operations and exceptional circumstances. In my capacity as a Rosters Officer and Acting FCS, I have adeptly managed numerous shift operations to facilitate the effective and efficient deployment of resources. This role requires a high level of adaptability and problem-solving, particularly when managing unexpected staff absences. My approach combines detailed planning with the agility to adjust to evolving circumstances, thereby ensuring uninterrupted service delivery. By continuously driving improvements and embracing new initiatives within the FCC, I lead by example in navigating these complex operational environments. My leadership is characterised by a commitment to organisational vision and a proactive stance on implementing change, ensuring that our team not only adapts to but thrives in challenging settings. My leadership is further exemplified in how I handle interpersonal dynamics and staff development. Recently, when an FCO openly challenged new directives from visiting leaders, I addressed the situation with a balanced approach. By halting the disruptive behaviour in a public setting and later providing a private forum for professional dialogue, I ensured the integrity of the meeting while respecting individual concerns. This not only reaffirmed my commitment to professionalism but also strengthened team cohesion and respect for leadership. Moreover, my strategic decision-making extends to operational challenges, such as guiding a recruit through their first major emergency call regarding an aircraft in distress. I supported the recruit to ensure they followed all procedures accurately and promptly, facilitating a successful outcome while fostering their confidence and skills. This incident underlines my ability to make insightful decisions that enhance individual and team performance under pressure. During a critical incident involving an aircraft in distress, I leveraged the situation to both effectively manage the crisis and foster professional growth. A new recruit was handling the emergency call under my supervision, which provided a real-life training opportunity under intense pressure. I strategically allowed the recruit to lead, closely monitoring and providing guidance as needed. This approach not only enhanced their learning but also introduced a practical innovation in our training methods, allowing recruits to gain firsthand experience with real emergencies. By adapting our emergency protocols in real-time, I demonstrated leadership in a dynamic setting. The decision to empower the recruit balanced the immediate need for effective response with the goal of competency development. The successful outcome, no loss of life and a safe emergency landing, underscored my ability to make insightful decisions that support both individual growth and organisational effectiveness. This incident has set a new standard within our organisation for training efficacy and operational excellence.

Performance through Results • •

Develops and mobilises talent Builds enduring relationships

• •

Inspires others Drives accountability and outcomes

In anticipation of a planned state-wide CAD system outage, I took a proactive role in preparing our team for manual operations, demonstrating my capability to develop and mobilise talent effectively. I identified an FCO who struggled with translating theoretical knowledge into practical skills during high-stress scenarios. By providing customised mentoring and hands-on training, I enabled this FCO to enhance their operational efficiency significantly, reducing response times from minutes to seconds. Additionally, I tailored the learning process for new recruits, breaking down complex procedures into manageable learning segments. This approach not only facilitated easier comprehension but also allowed recruits to progress at an optimised pace. One notable success was a recruit who transitioned from being behind in her studies to graduating as the Dux of her course, exemplifying the effectiveness of my targeted development strategies. I have fostered enduring relationships within and outside our organisation, crucial for enhancing operational cohesiveness and staff welfare. A key example of this is my role in negotiating between QFES and the UFUQ to establish favourable conditions for part-time employment. This initiative not only improved staffing flexibility but also made part-time roles more attractive, helping to maintain operational capacity during peak times. My commitment to confidentiality and supportive engagement with recruits further strengthens trust and loyalty among team members. I provide a safe space for them to discuss and overcome personal and professional challenges, which has been instrumental in their successful integration and progression within our ranks. I consistently seek to inspire our team through innovative and interactive training methods. An example of this was when I designed a team-building activity that used jigsaw puzzles to highlight the interconnectedness of individual roles within our operational framework. Each puzzle piece represented a different aspect of emergency response, requiring teams to collaborate both within and across groups to complete the picture successfully. This activity not only boosted morale but also reinforced the importance of teamwork and collective effort in achieving successful outcomes. By continually integrating creative approaches into our training and daily operations, I inspire our team to remain engaged and strive for excellence in all aspects of their duties. As the Roster Coordinator, I exemplify driving accountability and outcomes by ensuring our centre operates with optimal staffing levels. I adeptly manage the complexities of crew requirements, liaising effectively with both staff and management to ensure adequate coverage, especially during periods of low availability. In circumstances where staffing levels are insufficient, I swiftly implement TORP notifications and coordinate with other FCCs to mitigate any impact on our service delivery. My strategic and anticipatory planning prevents potential gaps in coverage, maintaining our centre’s high standards of response and operational readiness. This proactive management not only upholds our commitment to safety and efficiency but also reinforces the accountability standards expected within QFES. When tasked with overseeing the training of a new recruit under the newly implemented aXcellerate system, I embraced the opportunity to develop and mobilise talent within our centre. aXcellerate, a comprehensive program for tracking recruits’ progress and managing self-study modules for all Communications Officers, was initially met with resistance due to its novelty and complexity. As one of the first to learn and navigate this system, I quickly became proficient, allowing me to effectively complete tasks and assess the recruits' training components. Understanding the apprehensions of both new recruits and established officers unfamiliar with aXcellerate, I took proactive steps to build enduring relationships and foster a supportive learning environment. By communicating with influence, I reassured my colleagues about the user-friendliness of the program. I addressed and resolved any issues they encountered, which not only helped in smoothing the transition but also played a crucial role in boosting overall morale and acceptance of this new tool. To further inspire confidence and independence among the team, I created a user-friendly cheat sheet that detailed steps for enrolling in and navigating the online learning programs. This resource was instrumental in helping end users become proficient with aXcellerate in a remarkably short timeframe, significantly enhancing their confidence in using the new system. Through these efforts, I demonstrated my ability to drive accountability and outcomes by ensuring that the team was not only trained in the new system but also fully equipped to utilise it effectively. This initiative not only improved our operational efficiency but also reinforced a culture of continuous improvement and adaptability within the centre.

Performance through Accountability • •

Fosters healthy and inclusive workplaces Pursues continuous growth

•

Demonstrates sound governance

During the onset of the 2022 Gympie Floods, as the Supervising Officer on shift, I took proactive measures to ensure a well-prepared and resilient response team. Recognising the potential for escalated workloads due to the heavy rainfall, I prioritised the completion of daily tasks early and ensured all staff were well-rested. Leveraging my experience and knowledge of previous flood events in the area, I facilitated thorough briefings for the team on flood maps and weather reports to anticipate areas at risk. I coordinated closely with senior officers to strategize our response and communicated these plans effectively, ensuring staff were fully informed of the operational demands and evacuation points. My proactive approach not only prepared the team for the increased workload but also fostered a supportive and inclusive work environment that prioritised staff well-being and preparedness. In managing the response to the Gympie Floods, my focus was not only on immediate logistical needs but also on maintaining continuous and effective communication across multiple agencies. This included councils, main roads, electrical companies, and emergency services such as SES, QPS, and QAS. My ability to facilitate timely and effective interoperability between these entities ensured a coordinated response, minimising potential damage and enhancing community safety. The comprehensive CNIR's I maintained provided vital real-time information to all stakeholders, further demonstrating my leadership in fostering robust governance and accountability during critical events. I am committed to continuous professional development and staying updated with the latest operational procedures and safety protocols. I regularly subscribe to updates on QLD public Service code of conduct, WH&S, and human resources to ensure my leadership and service delivery remain current, impartial, accountable, and transparent. This dedication to growth ensures that I am well-equipped to lead by example and maintain high standards within our team. Additionally, by actively participating in the review and update of our Business Continuity Plan (BCP), I ensure that all policy documents reflect the most current practices, and that our team is always prepared to respond effectively under any circumstances, thus safeguarding public safety. My role in implementing and facilitating the adoption of the aXcellerate system exemplifies my capability in sound governance and effective management of change within our unit. Faced with initial resistance due to unfamiliarity with the new system, I took a hands-on approach to learn and subsequently teach the system, enhancing our training processes. By developing and distributing a cheat sheet for the program, I addressed user concerns and streamlined the learning process, significantly boosting program acceptance and confidence among new and existing staff. My efforts ensured that the transition did not just meet but exceeded compliance with training standards and operational readiness, reflecting my commitment to maintaining rigorous governance and continuous improvement. Throughout my tenure at QFES, I have been pivotal in enhancing the efficacy of Fire Communications training programs. I was assigned to oversee the final stages of a recruit's live training after it was identified that they were significantly behind schedule and experiencing personal challenges impacting their performance. Upon taking over, I prioritised establishing a supportive and empathetic training environment. During our initial session, I engaged directly with the recruit to understand their concerns and gauge their emotional state. They expressed feelings of being overwhelmed and uncertain about their ability to graduate. I attentively noted their specific worries and crafted a tailored action plan designed to address each concern individually, thereby fostering a healthy and inclusive workplace that accommodates personal and professional needs. To ensure the recruit could manage the workload more effectively, I broke down the curriculum into smaller, manageable segments. This approach not only alleviated their stress but also facilitated a clearer understanding of the material, which was crucial for their confidence and progress. After each segment, I conducted a brief assessment to ensure comprehension and readiness before moving on to subsequent topics. This methodical approach not only supported the recruit's continuous growth but also reinforced the principles of sound governance by ensuring that training standards were met with precision and care. Additionally, I provided guidance on available resources to assist with their personal issues, further demonstrating our commitment to the well-being of our personnel. This comprehensive support system not only helped the recruit to successfully complete their training but also prepared them to handle future pressures, both personally and professionally. Through such initiatives, I demonstrate my commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and high-performing work environment at QFES.
