FOREWORD

Kia Ora, I'm thrilled to have you join us next month as part of the New Zealand Pavilion at IIGCE 2018. This exhibition is part of our Renewable Energy and Geothermal programme. Indonesia is among the world's fastest growing countries in terms of energy consumption. This is fuelled by robust economic development, increasing urbanisation and steady population growth. The country is the largest energy user in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), accounting for nearly 40% of total energy used among ASEAN members. Between 2000 and 2014, energy consumption in Indonesia increased by nearly 65%. From a business-as-usual perspective, it is set to grow another 80% by 2030. Indonesia is aiming for an affordable, secure and sustainable energy system and already has ambitious targets to increase its use of renewable energy. The country has set an overall target to have modern and renewable energy, provide 23% of total primary energy supply (TPES) by 2025, and 31% by 2050. Geothermal and Renewable Energy industry is essentially taking a major part in achieving this target of energy mix as well as contributing to Indonesia's sustainability effort in achieving the world's Sustainable Development Goal. The development and progress of Indonesia's renewable energy sector is indeed has been supported by the New Zealand's business player – from consultant, EPC, to software, with reliable expertise over the years. I would like to personally thank you for taking part in our renewable energy and geothermal events this year. This programme is a great opportunity to share our renewable energy & geothermal stories with Indonesia and it would not be possible without your support. This event consists of strings of program, crafted uniquely for Geothermal and Non-Geothermal (Solar Energy) related business. For Geothermal industry, the event will start with panel discussion on Renewable Energy, Master Class, and followed by NZ Geothermal Alumni dinner on September 5th 2018. From 6th to 8th, NZ pavilion in IIGCE 2018 will host 9 different NZ business in geothermal space. For solar energy related business, after panel discussion on Renewable Energy on September 5th 2018, it would be followed by market visit and meeting with related stakeholders, both from government, association and business. I look forward to meeting you all in Jakarta soon – safe travels. Ng mihi,

Diana Permana New Zealand Trade Commissioner to Indonesia
