The Beginning
Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior also known as Neymar Jr, was born in Mogi das Cruzes, So Paulo Brazil on February 5th, 1992. His parents were Neymar Santos Sr. and Nadine da Silva. Neymar inherited his name from his father who bears Neymar Senior, which is why the name Junior is used to distinguish the son from the father. When Neymar Jr was 4 months old, he and his family suffered a fatal car accident which caused Neymar Jr to suffer a large cut on the top of his head due to a piece of glass from the window flying towards him. Thankfully, the family did not suffer any fatal injuries.

In São Paulo, Brazil, Neymar Jr. grew up playing football and enjoying it. Neymar’s father played professional football and would later mentor his son as his career developed. Neymar, a passionate fan of futsal and street football, was significantly inspired by the way the game is played in Brazil’s streets as he prepared to enter the professional ranks. When he was younger, Neymar participated on the Sao Vicente youth football team from his area.

Chapter 2 Rise
Rise
In 2009, Neymar made his professional debut for Santos Futebol Clube which is a Brazilian based football club. He quickly established himself as one of the best players in the Brazilian league. Neymar Jr helped Santos win the Copa do Brasil in 2010 and the Campeonato Paulista in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Neymar’s skills on the pitch were unmatched, and he quickly became a fanfavorite in Brazil. In August of 2010, Neymar made his debut for the Brazilian National Team at the age of 18. Neymar contributed an assist and scored in the championship match of the 2013 Confederations Cup, which Brazil won 3-0 over Spain. He received the Golden Ball and the title of Player of the Competition.

Following the same year Neymar Jr joined the Brazilian National Team, Neymar Jr left Santos FC and made a move to Spain and joined one of the most prestigious football clubs in the world FC Barcelona. He began playing with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez where they then formed one of the deadliest-attacking trios in all of football history. Today as of 2023, Neymar Jr is now tied with Pele as Brazil’s all time goal scorer.
