ver 170 years ago, Ernestine Fremaux and her husband founded a linen weaving mill in France, 60 years after the invention of the mechanical loom. It was the dawn of the industrialisation of textile manufacturing and they were in the heart of the industry, Lille. It wasn’t an easy journey. Ernestine’s nephew Paul Fremaux, who had joined the company after a fire destroyed all of the buildings in 1867 marched the company forward hurdle after hurdle. Even when the Second World War almost ruined the industry in northern France, Paul saw opportunity for progression and founded a new company for cotton weaving, modernising what was left of the factories. Generations later in the 1980s, Dominic Fremaux - then president of the company - met Mr Yves Delorme and they joined forces.
