Dato’ Sri Mohammed Shaheen Shah, a hotelier, has been an enthusiastic entrepreneur for more than a decade. Shaheen is now the Group Managing Director of RIYAZ Hotels & Resorts Sdn Bhd which manages hotels in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam and has business ventures in education, food & beverage, digital marketing, travel, tours, and development.

After finishing his O levels to complete his education in the hospitality sector, Shaheen went to Switzerland, graduating from Cesar Ritz College in 1994. He worked in the United States and finished studying at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He began his career in various divisions through the Marriott International Management Trainee Program before returning to Malaysia to work for Sheraton and Pan Pacific Hotels. He rose through the ranks to become General Manager of Cyberview Resort & Spa at the age of 28. In 2008, he was young and dynamic, with his own idea of creating his empire to manage hotels under the wing of RIYAZ Hotels & Resorts.

Shaheen’s leadership has led to the rapid growth of RIYAZ Hotels & Resorts, as well as any endeavour in which he takes an interest. RIYAZ Group was created with a desire to learn more about the hotel industry and a commitment to push its boundaries. They are now an awardwinning worldwide organisation with a diverse portfolio of businesses.

Since its inception in 2008, the Group has expanded its expertise to include the food and beverage, education, technology, and development sectors of the hospitality industry. Each entity is thought through from conception to completion, with careful design, innovative and exciting bespoke brands.

Shaheen has since established a range of wellknown tourism and hospitality enterprises, including Dash Hotel Seminyak Bali, Dash Box Hotel Cyberjaya, Dash Resort Langkawi, Altara Suites By Riyaz, and Tan’yaa Hotel Cyberjaya.
