Happiness

Hannah Jones

I wear a yellow sweater With yellow earrings On this rainy November day, And I vow to myself to take happiness with me Wherever I go, Like chocolate-chip banana bread Still warm, a live coal, Like a Mozart opera stuck in my head, Displacing dour and useless thoughts, Always nearing the chorus, Like love, Intangible, but so real Because I believe in it, Myfinenewclothes That only the heart can see. And so I take my yellow Out into the rain, And I am a passing sun With matching earrings.
