AUGUST 4 - 17 Looks like the arts, entertainment, and cultural community isn’t skipping a beat this summer, as South Florida welcomes a number of fabulous acts and events! The one and only Ke$ha is the biggest star to hit up the concert scene in the next couple of weeks, while other musical acts, including Engelbert Humperdinck, The Go-Go’s, and Christian Castro, will be hitting the local stage as well. We’ll also experience some pretty amazing shows, including Cirque Eloize, SUDS, Masked, and See Jane Run! All in all, we have a delicious assortment of things to do! CONCERTS

DANCE

Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock & Casino in Hollywood offers an impressive roster of entertainment this summer. Engelbert Humperdinck, known for great hits like “Release Me (And Let Me Love Again)” and “After the Lovin,” appears on August 3. The incredible Brian Wilson, best known as the leader and chief songwriter of The Beach Boys, performs on August 5. The Go-Go’s, the first allfemale band that both wrote their own songs and played their own instruments, will play on August 7. Country singer Kellie Pickler, who rose to fame after her stint on the sixth season of American Idol, performs on August 9.

Hip Hop choreographer and Guggenheim Fellow Rennie Harris brings the 2011 Illadelph Legends Hip Hop Festival to Miami running thru August 7 at South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center. For info visit www. facebook.com/rennieharrispuremovement

Florida Grand Opera, in celebration of its first zarzuela production, hosts Cine Zarzuela, a film series featuring screenings of scenes from the 2007 Teatro Real production of Luisa Fernanda with Plácido Domingo. Ke$ha

Danish metal band Volbeat brings their summer tour to the Fillmore Miami Beach at The Jackie Gleason Theater on August 5. Rock powerhouse Cold performs with Volbeat.

FILM

Ke$ha, whose debut single “Tik Tok” reached number one in 11 countries, has earned that dollar sign in her name. Ke$ha brings her show to Klipsch Amphitheater at Bayfront Park on August 7. Cristian Castro, Grammy Award-nominated Mexican pop singer, brings his show to the Fillmore Miami Beach at The Jackie Gleason Theater on August 13.

THEATRE Cirque Éloize iD, a spectacular, mind-blowing fusion of new theatrical circus and urban dance created by the great contemporary cirque director Jeannot Painchaude, continues its run at the Arsht Center thru September 4. This is a must see show full of energy and excitement. Miami Beach Stage Door Theatre opens at the Bryron Carlyle Theatre with a production of SUDS, a bubbly 60s musical about romance in a Wash-O-Rama. This hilarious musical features vintage hits like “Chapel of Love” and “Don’t Make Me Over.” SUDS runs thru September 4. GableStage, known for its critically acclaimed productions, presents Masked thru August 7. This is an explosive Israeli play about three brothers locked in a life-and-death struggle. Actors’ Playhouse brings theatre fans the world premiere of See Jane Run! running at the Miracle Theatre thru August 14. This energetic musical gives us a funny and moving look at the female sex.

EVENTS It’s time for a fabulously pink weekend, as Brown Forman Beverages launches Chambord Vodka Weekend ’11 – a weekend of dining, cocktails, dance parties, and over the top entertainment. Delou Africa Inc. hosts the African Diaspora Dance and Drum Festival of Florida, paying tribute to African and Caribbean dance, drum, and musical styles and traditions, on August 5-7 at the Little Haiti Cultural Center.
