ShamExpress showcased his natural talent in three starts as a 2YO, breaking 33 seconds for his final 600m when winning brilliantly on debut at Flemington over 1200m. Notably, ShamExpress confirmed his ability to run outstanding sectionals throughout his racing career. ShamExpress resumed racing as a Spring 3YO, placing in the Gr.1 VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes at the Melbourne racing carnival prior to winning over 1000m at Moonee Valley carrying 60kg’s in a time of 57.95 seconds. ShamExpress then won Australia’s premier sprint race, the Gr.1 Newmarket Handicap over 1200m, against older horses in a time of 1.08.16. In doing so, ShamExpress joined the honour roll of Australia’s best sprinters that more recently includes leading sires General Nediym and Exceed And Excel as well as the invincible Black Caviar. Training on to race again as a 4YO, ShamExpress started twice at the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival where he finished powerfully to fill the runnerup position in the Gr.1 VRC Sprint Classic. He closed out his racing career with five more Autumn Gr.1 race starts which included finishing second in the Gr.1 VRC Lightning Stakes as well and finishing fourth in the Gr.1 VRC Newmarket H. and Gr.1 ATC All Aged Stakes. ShamExpress retired to stud with a Timeform rating of 124 and racetrack career earnings in excess of $A1.15 million.

SIRE LINE - O’Reilly O’Reilly was NZ Horse Of The Year, Champion 3YO and Champion sprinter-miler. Like ShamExpress, O’Reilly was a Gr.1 winner as a 3YO over 1200m against older horses. A multiple award-winning Champion sire, O’Reilly is notable for his versatility siring Gr.1 winning racehorses from 1200m to 2400m. His tally of stakes winners totals 87 and includes topclass colts and fillies that race from 2YO’s through to older horses. O’Reilly’s fastest son, ShamExpress was 2017 Leading First Season Sire at Karaka (Premier Session ave. $192,500, selling to $510,000).

DAM LINE - Volkrose ShamExpress is the third foal of his Gr. 1 producing dam Volkrose, a daughter of Windsor Park’s eight-time Champion sire Volksraad. Volkrose is a half sister to Group winner O’Reilly Rose while her dam Rose World is by Victoria Derby winner and champion broodmare sire Grosvenor. ShamExpress descends directly from Irish Oaks winner Celina and is a member of the renowned sireproducing family of Commands, Kaapstad etc.
