Wildlife Conservation International

Wildlife Conservation International (WCI) is a non-profit organisation trading as: The Orangutan Project, International Elephant Project, International Tiger Project and Forests for People. Founded in 1998 by internationally renowned orangutan expert Leif Cocks, the organisation has expanded internationally to incorporate many regionally registered charities, providing tax deductibility for citizens in Australia, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand, United Kingdom and the United States. The projects funded by WCI not only include direct species conservation such as rescue, rehabilitation and release programs, but also habitat protection and regeneration, education, research and local community partnerships. Tying funding into direct outcomes for individual species has enabled WCI to partner with the majority of orangutan, elephant and tiger conservation projects operating on the ground today in Borneo and Sumatra.
